Brakes – Heard About Your Band Lyrics

i;ve heard this song is a direct response to art brut's "formed a band". it"s pretty funny if you listen to that song and then this one. but for the record, i think art brut is better. |

Belle & Sebastian – Piazza, New York Catcher Lyrics

I like the sexual orientation theory. before i took a gander at the lyrics, i thought the speaker was involved in a forbidden gay love affair with mike piazza, which is kind of funny and very sweet. now, i see that it's more than this, but i always favor my gut feelings when it comes to songs. |

all the lyrics except for the chorus are from "Penny's Guide to Teen-Age Charm and Popularity", a real book from the fifties which gave serious advice. the fifties were comical. |

a lot of the lyrics are just fluff that sound really good in the actual song. nevertheless, i like the line:
"If you believe your dreams will come true
Then sleep is you'll ever do" |

Pavement – Range Life Lyrics

Corgan and Malkmus are just two very different musical artists. Pavement's sound is looser and less put together and their lyrics are more drug endused and still very heartfelt. The Pumpkins sound is more calculated and Billy's lyrics are more transcendant. It just depends on what you're into, both are very good. However, it is pretty weak if Corgan did get Pavement excluded from Lollapalooza '94.
.....oh yeah, and this songs great |

Some people have looked way to far into the lyrics of this song and over-interpreted them. It's just about his psycho girlfriend! |

It may just be that I've gone to Catholic school for 13 years and they pound this stuff into our skulls, but I immediately noticed the Creation, loss of innocence, original sin theme. Like dross said. Only, I think he was showing disbelief that Christians can actually accept that they are forever barred from paradise and are marked from birth.....and then Billy just goes into a few terrific verses about self-loathing......isn't it crazy that the same man who wrote Zero also started Zwan? Two totally different ends of the spiritual spectrum. |

Belle & Sebastian – It Could Have Been a Brilliant Career Lyrics

I've never thought of the "stroke" as a stroke of genius. Thank you for opening me up to that idea. That makes a lot of sense for the first two people described, but an actual stroke makes more sense for the final one. Either way, great song. I love the rising and falling mood. |

The Smiths – Girlfriend in a Coma Lyrics

I always laugh when I listen to this. I personally believe that he's found himself in a tight spot because he was planning on breaking up with this girl and then she got into an accident which put her in a coma. He's forced to stay with her, so as to not look like a cold-hearted ass. That's why he's a little less than enthusiastic about seeing her. My interpretation. |

Here I was preparing to verbally abuse Arm and everyone else did it for me.
This song really frightened me when I first heard it. Sent a chill down my spine. Mainly the line- "Looked beyond the day in hand, there's nothing there at all" -It's the most telling moment of the song. The tempo changes, his voice wavers: he's cracking. |
