Cato: I completely agree. MoneyMoney: I think it's more along the lines of him dating a girl who was already getting married. As in the woman was cheating on her future husband. That's the line literally. So a band gets influence, they all had to start somewhere and maybe it's a tribute type of thing? (Imitation is flattery...?) I adore Jesse Lacey's voice and all the melodies he sings. I somewhat think this song is in the perspective of the girl and having an out-of-body experience. When you become an angel some think you forget all worldly touches because you hit the top, and so she can look back on it without sadness or regret, and this girl then can successfully see into the world and notices Jesse, maybe? When touched by a supernatural being you can get a slight sixth sense and he thinks of heaven. |

I learned about the Hebrew "Sheol" last year in religion and it does sound like they are singing that word (the emphasis of pronunciation is there). It is extremely symbolic and I expect no less from a band with this much caliber. Guernica was painted by Picasso. I know Brand New's references aren't always literal, so I guess it is another love song and he feels like a relationship is somewhat like an after life and love is the war that killed him (I know this is chronologically mixed up, but he does use the word "posthumously") and when he feels that limb that is gone - it's the missing person in his life. On a different topic, maybe they're dreaming of their past love(s) who have died and looking down from heaven (if they made it) to help steer them to safety if they should die as well. |

Well, when I heard it my friend took it literally since it was "Big Casino" but I must've been way off. I thought of drafts because they would pull names like Bingo balls, way back when. He'll accept it on the outside but on the inside want to run away, since life is such a gambol. But then the rest of the song doesn't match my idea, so - boo me. |

Its true that your mind can be influenced, and I'm sticking to that. So why not try typing up what you hear (if you hear anything at all)? And if you say it was intentional, I want to see proof. An interview that the band said this was intentional. When I listen hard enough my mind makes up the words, "I can't see tomorrow" "Come with me" "Try harder", but of course I'm forcing myself to come up with phrases. And the icier eyeliner, like a cold stare? But eyes are closed, because she is dead but still has a loathing for her killer? Does this work? |
