Tool – H. Lyrics 12 years ago
Ya, I think Maynard's referencing abuse in that part because if you've gone through counselling or therapy then maybe the drug wouldn't have taken its place in the users life?

I kind of thought it could be about addiction. You start off with a little, and slowly you get deeper and deeper into what you're addicted to. It could be in relationships too. But that drug could be the metaphorical hand...

The Cure – Lovesong Lyrics 12 years ago
It's the ultimate existential relationship. That one person is always a part of your being, yet the impossibility of forever never breaks that bond. The fact she's on another continent, "no matter how far away," I will always love her. There's no possible way we'd be together, and still, it has been over a year and I have those feelings for her. It's not an everyday thing, but when I think of love, it always equates back to her.

I think it's a memory of love, a true love. You don't need anything else. With her, you're whole. But the tragedy is the fact you can't be together. It's a theme that transitions right into Pictures of You.

There's in impossibility of forever...
It's a memory, the fact she makes him whole creates a void through the tone of the song.

Stone Temple Pilots – Army Ants Lyrics 13 years ago
I like to think it's about how we all fall into the same routines and are judgemental assholes about shit. If you dont pray the same, you're different. We all have a short life so why do we all have to think the same?

From a small town (Prince Rupert) I moved to Vancouver, BC and, even though Vancouver is small in terms of big cities, it was a huge change... Watching people drive on the "Freeway" (our lil highway) to get to work everyday, it just hit me, we're all doing the same thing everyday. Car after car, for hundreds of Km's trying to get to and from work. Army Ants just resonated with me when I seen it.

There are two bible references one to question about the way people pray and the other is how it tells us why a woman ain't a man. We can also deduce that it's a reference to science or the evolution of ourselves. The lifestyles we lead are always judged, by "god." God could be the holier than thou...

Basically, stop judging assholes! We are all the same but we're all different at the sametime. Believe what you want...

Deftones – Minus Blindfold Lyrics 15 years ago
i am usually pretty literal at this stuff, but I think there is something else going on here. It sounds more like neglect and violence turned into abuse where the 26 refers to the alcohol that drowns you.

I want to pick you up
but they dont want you to.

Almost hitting two kids.
The swing of the car is in her Fucking rape... It is more about how the driver handled the car.
And so, maybe it is about a driving under the influence charge or drug charge?
He is stuck in it and wants to pick it up
he is creative under the influence?
In it he then learns how to cry and deal with the shit he went through.
He keeps going back to the alcohol or what ever else he is into... It keeps calling him back to drown the Pain/

Modest Mouse – Never Ending Math Equation Lyrics 16 years ago
I think at the age of 6 we are all very selfish and alone in the sense that we want what we want and want to get our way. So that mentality doesnt really change, the only way we know how others feel are what they show us.

When he is up on the plane he is looking at the world and seeing all those lights and it kind of goes to show you how many people there are out there. How do we all connect>? We are really alone in this world. This doesnt change no matter how old we are. With all of this we have created in life, machines and lights and stuff, we have even farther disconnected ourselves to reality, to that equation that connects us to the nature and each other. The plants and the animals have a purpose, and he is questioning our purpose and pondering it through loneliness.

Maybe his dad just died? and there is a certain aloneness when someone close to you dies and a kind of questioning period of what is the meaning of life is if we are going to just die anyways.
