Rush – Marathon Lyrics

personally i think alex is genious on this entire album...yea their 80s stuff went more poppy and geddy loved his synths but alex really shows the emotion he puts into his playing, you can really tell in the solo of this song. |

Stone Sour – I'm NOT Jesus Lyrics

this song is supposed to be in the Apocalyptica section
but its simply a song about preists putting digits in little boys...more specifically its from the viewpoint of one of the boys whos grown up and its seeking some sort of revenge or wants to see the preist punished in some way |

this could be as simple as describing rock music. describing its abilities and what they've seen it as over their years of "endlessly rocking" |

Rush – Freeze (Part IV of Fear) Lyrics

sticking with the tragedy Neil went through, i see this as describing the time when he was trying to decide what he was going to do after the tragedy. Is he going to find some reason for moving on or is he going to let it get the best of him and spiral downward. |

Rush – Nocturne Lyrics

i think its more than just neil describing a dream...if you read his book Ghost Rider this could be another description of the way he looked at his journey. or to come from another viewpoint going with the dream idea throughout his book he constantly says things like "didnt get much sleep last night because of the dream" meaning he had a dream about his wife or daughter and it knocked him down a couple rungs on his ladder. |

Rush – Secret Touch Lyrics

i agree with lerxstgk, during neil's "exile" he'd constantly question whether or not he'd ever be able to love again after what happened. and i think this song is a reflection on those thoughts |

Rush – The Stars Look Down Lyrics
|
i think it is a question of faith because of what Neil had to go through. in the chorus he is tryin to figure out if what happened was supposed to mean something or if it was just bad luck. and the verses he's questioning whether or not he still wants to live his life and chase after his old dreams. |

Rush – Ghost Rider Lyrics

after reading his book, Ghost Rider, and reading the lyrics and listening to the music of this album and how well they mesh, Neil has quickly climbed his way to my top 3 lyricists/writers. the book was so powerful and the detail and metaphors and every other writing tool he uses, he uses perfectly.
this is easily my favorite song off of vapor trails |

Metallica – Dyers Eve Lyrics

Lars is a great drummer if you really sit down and think about it. When Metallica first started there really werent any bands that used a ton of double bass, yea there were a few but not enough for everyone to be goin all double kick crazy...for his time hes a phenominal drummer, he knows how to portray feeling into his playing, which really gives the edge on this song. Lars may never be a Joey Jordison or a danny carey, or a portnoy, or really anybody in modern metal but like i said for his time he is very very talented and brought a lot to the table |

Metallica – To Live Is to Die Lyrics

Between the Buried and Me – Selkies: The Endless Obsession Lyrics

its pretty obvious what its about. and ItsJorge added to it pretty well. my only comment is i dont think TV/movies "used" to corrupt people, they still get into peoples heads and show what the "perfect society" should be. All these damn top model and makeover shows are telling people women more specifically they're pretty much hideous and need to change when with most cases its not that at all. Thats just one example, there are so many.
This is the best song off alaska in my opinion then backwards marathon and alaska. |

anything13989 you hit my view of BTBAM on the head. Musically they are like very very few bands out there, their arrangements are unique and it flows flawlessly. not many bands can go from brutal death metal to smooth jazzy stuff to fucking bluegrass and back and pull it off without a hook. every single individual in the band can play their insruments and play them very well, very underrated musicians.
as for your comments on them being emo, i couldnt agree with you more. BTBAM is far from the emo we've come to love to hate. Truth be told every single song that stands the test of time is some form of an emotion so if you wanna get techinical every good song/band is emo. but unfortunately the media has formulated emo into people wearing all black, guys in lowrider jeans, hair over one eye, cutters, who cry bitch and complain about everything they think is wrong with their life. that media form of emo is annoying and needs to go away but i've always seen two different types of emo in music, the fake kind that is this media trend and then there's real emotion that musicans use to their advantage to make amazing beautiful music which BTBAM has very clearly accomplished. |

very good is a huge understatement haha...BTBAM somehow manage to keep the essence of the origianal song but still add the perfect amount of heavy and add their touch but still easily recognizable...the blasting drums really drew me in haha. |

Winds Of Plague – Angels of Debauchery Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
i dont think it has anything to do with teens, and i can see the end of the world being a metphor for what they're trying to say. personally i see a politcal meaning behind it. Basically saying being a democracy the people have the voice we're just not using it whether it be because we're either afraid or we are shut up before we can say anything.
"The power of peace concealed in a word
Give it up give it all you got
Stitched face as they fall into there graves"
pretty much describes the power of speech
"Now I see it clear
An origin set in fear
We didn't ask for you
We sure as fuck don't need you"
bush was statistically supposed to lose his first election
"Your getting fucked up
We stood the test of time
We ran our fucking lives
We shut you out
Stood our ground
Yet were still alive
Stand united break the silence
We are taking it from here
Were comin up were breakin out
You look down on me, were coming down on you "
Bush's two terms are nearing and end and change is most likely coming.
thats just what i first thought of when i read these lyrics, i could be completely wrong haha. |

Apocalyptica – I'm NOT Jesus Lyrics
|
"Do you remember me
The kid i used to be
Not the same as i used to be
OH DO YOU REMEMBER ME?
NOOOOOOOOOOOO"
my favorite bit of the song :-D
tragic- Corey is featured on the song and yes apocalyptica wrote the music but i think when they have a guest vocalist they allow them to write lyrics. With Corey's writing abilities they prob let him hear the track and said have fun.
His voice is perfect for the song, gives it the creepy tone of one of the abused children all grown up saying "do you remember me? cuz i sure as hell remember you and you're gonna pay and i wanna watch you fall off your pedestal"
great song |

DevilDriver – Sin & Sacrifice Lyrics

ok this entire cd has some of the best drumming in metal today but the first two minutes of this song are the BEST. The build up and the emotion poured out of the drums alone is incredible then throw the guitars in over top, i need a towel.
i could be wrong but to me its along the lines of what Rhayn said but not so much a decision. i think its about being an athiest/non-christian and finally realizing that hey this isnt working and finding the comfort of religion. |

ok theres a little story behind this for me...me and my roomate were listening to this cd like we always do with new cds and rate them and talk about them etc etc. when it got to this song we expected the cure doing background stuff seeing it is a korn cd. when the flawlessly tied to two songs together it sent us on a Korn fest, we listened to nothing but korn for a week. GENIOUS idea for a song, my fav on the unplugged. |

I think this song is about somebody who sees all the hate that is going on in the world and all the shit his country is catching for it and he stands up to fight for the country that has given him his rights to do just that. hence the title "worth dying for", if you love your country and all the rights its given you, you would think the same thing. |
