Dee Dee said in his autobiography Lobotomy: "'You want a song. I'll give you a song,' I thought to myself. The next day I gave him the lyrics to 'Wart Hog.'" |

The band saw the film ten times in June 1976 while stuck in Cleveland, Ohio after a rained-out show was cancelled. The "freaks" in the film chant "Gooble gobble, we accept her, one of us, one of us." The Ramones mutated this into "Gabba Gabba Hey." The "D-U-M-B" line was a joke on what critics were calling the band. |

According to Arturo Vega, after their last fight, Connie stormed out cursing at Dee Dee, and Dee Dee yelled out the window: "I'm glad to see you go!" |

Dee Dee had grown up in Germany before moving to Queens, but told "New York" magazine: "We wrote the (song) because we watch a lot of war movies." The song's original first line, "Well i'm a Nazi baby/I'm a Nazi, yes I am" was changed in the studio at the request of Sire Records president Seymour Stein (although Joey always sang the original line live). |
