i'm going to just steal what xcrazycorex and tyboisfun said. it too might be all wrong so its already been stated that Tommy (the singer) was most likely pressured by the record label into a new hit, which would be as popular and commercial as Mordecai. He is having these conflicting thoughts about writing something to fufill his personal happiness, or something to meet the expectations of the record label. the song is very bopolar, or schizophrenic in the sense that he is more or less taking different sides, different emotions towards the writing approach. He is worrying about what they will think. I think the bedroom performer would just be when he is playing the songs to himself in his room, rather than something sexual. it could be either or, but i think that this means he is tempted to give up the whole musical career, then calling himself a coward for thinking of such a thing, just because he can't deal with the stress. as for the title, (meaning one who is self taught) i think he is trying to communicate that the success was a fluke, and he may need some help to follow through with a song as successful |

shit my words are all jumbled in the last. here, its proofread now in thinking that this, as a plateful of our dead, sums up the previous songs (this song ends conquest and capture {bloodmeat-limb from limb}), this would be an overview of humanity in general. when "god" brought us upon the earth, he made us different from everything else. he gave us a brain bigger and more different than all other animals', obviously to make up for our lack in strength or ability to survive without intelligence. proud of this ability, humans obviously thought we reign superior to all other animals. since our intelligence is so great, we must need a way to communicate ourselves, so we created language. by using "betray" i think arif is saying that this was our mistake. we create these words, but with these words we diminish our communication. no matter how we say these words, they will not come close to the emotional expression and communication that flows through music. like all the future ghosts who scratch their names in wet cement--- if you ever see names scratched in wet cement, you would never take notice of it, it would never be a big deal right? therefore language should be the ghost that carves its name in wet cement. language should be the lesser communication whereas music should be greater. obviously demeaning meaning will mean we created language in failure, while we had music first as better means of communication. defleshing the word would mean to take less importance of what people say, and more in what they do, in the music they produce. since music is the ultimate expression, we will see people as they really are. life will be clear, no one can lie through music, only through words. |

This also relates to spoils. "language is the heart's lament, a weak attempt to circumvent the loneliness inherent in the search for permanence." Words are just words, utterly failing to communicate our emotions, whereas music does. The first few lines refer to themselves, or music in general "What they must have heard". They didn't hear words or poetry, the heard music "a wilderness of sound and movement repeating itself across the narrows of mountainsides, the cries of creatures crashing against cold rock, human voices heralding the hillside, their bellows bounding ripe with resonance" i might think that means percussion (creatures crashing), the echoing of the sole music (repeating itself) singing (the human voices heralding the hillside). Unfortunately, i haven't gotten into the goddess part, i know that it may be what they were saying? maybe they were the creators of music, and their lyric was about their goddess giving birth to a daughter, but because of society's sexism, or simply society's conclusion that "god" is male, not female. Maybe this goes even further than biblical times, but that wouldn't make any sense seeing as the album is divided into past, present and future. Maybe this means that we are restarting the whole process, that we will communicate by music instead of words, that we will start a new religion upon a goddess instead of a god? I know there is mention of flidias earlier in the album, but does flidias also control the wind and the rain and the thunder? the wind and rain and thunder make music, which is possibly where man got it from, and stole it. It was a blessing and curse since it does so much, but is taking away our language? thanks for listening to me rant |

yeah i see where you're going with the no free will of marraige thing, from what i just looked up in the dictionary( check on my no stars over bethlehem comment) this is all in russia, i think, where the women dont have as much rights as they do here. this worlds got the substance of a frozen summer silhouette. i dunno if thats a craazy metaphore arif created, but it sounds like an oxymoron, something that dosent make sense. so this world and it's substance(people) dont make any sense. Kezias mother was very loving, and worked very hard for what she beleived in, but in the end, its useless, and decides death is her best option. She tries to make the best of everything, do the best for kezia, trying to bring pride to the family, but in the end brings them shame( you're spraying perfume called pride, trying to give yourself pride, but only bring shame). lol, the first time i heard the situation, gender, position, i thought she molested her, but now i kinda see its that they're in the wrong place at the wrong status and gender(women in russia{not to offend any russians} and its that positions fault, not theirs that their life is so bad) the last part(my favourite musical and lyrical part) is while she is in prison, thinking of her mother, possibly writing a letter. but she knows she cannot recieve that letter because she is in prison, so maybe its from the prison priest or something, possibly a male because they have the rights to send letters to prisoners and females dont?. the next part states that shes sick of this life, shes hungry, tired, cold, and she just wants it to end(the shotgun will instead) yeah i pretty much copied what u said |

| i read this on some other site, half of it is my interperitation, the other half is what i read. and it might be totally wrong cuz iv never read the bible or anything of those sorts. k, so first off, the prison priest is the priest in prisons that will talk to people before they are executed and pray with them. from his point of view, he is doubting his religion(ex. in heretics and killers he used got to seal his temples pillars, then the temple collapsed) his religion is gone, because god is dead(someone plunged a dagger) and now hes watching all the fools that still beleive. im pretty sure this song is really influenced by dostoevsky (russian writer) because the definition of cossack is a member of a Slavic people living in southern European Russia and Ukraine and adjacent parts of Asia and noted for their horsemanship and military skill; they formed an elite cavalry corps in czarist Russia. so im guessing this is all set in russia, namely military men, probably christians. a pulpit is The ministry of preaching. so hes watching all the other priests still preaching. "amen to the people who think theres still a way to help us" so pretty much we killed god, we're screwed. aeroblitz got all the stuff before me | |

the title reffers to the red sea which moses parted. as said in nautical" i could have parted ribs and flesh, like a different kind of red sea" this basically means kezia is telling us to part the ribs and flesh, to give the rib back*making mand and woman equal) Kezia was sent to prison for prostitution and rebellion(im pretty sure, this part im guessing) and for speaking the truth about civilisation( the gaping holes). back to the equality, vesta (the roman godess) has been sleeping, hasn't noticed all the evils happening to women, and women have to accept that their anatomy will define them( ugly or whatever). surbodinate means lower class, or controlled. an angel without wings is useless, so the queens(women) are useless. when we make it easy to belong(prostitututes taken in or drug abusers together) you trust them, so its easy to be wrong. this is in the persona of kezia, but im not sure if the next part is someone telling this to her, or her telling this to someone. " i remember when you were hopeful" a prostitute full of hope, only finding their hopes and dreams shattered by what they have to do "never thought you life would be lived in a coffin" confined to the same thing again, abandoning your morals and social obligations, free of labels. in the pursuit of a cosmopolitian dream, a dream much more sophisticated then what you're forced to do. the rest has been explained or is obvoius amazing song |
