Well, basically I think this is about a rich, famous guy who lets his fame make him feel untouchable. So he sees the girl, who isn't his girlfriend, and he starts doing the dirty on his girlfriend. Then, the paparazzi caught him and then his girlfriend found out. Then he's all, 'you can't Rome without Caesar' and wants her back but then I think she has a revenge on him, 'you know I love to show off But you never thought that I would take it this far' maybe she made him look really bad in the papers or something. In the video, the girlfriend dresses like a hoe, takes him to a desert and kills him I think... though I think that's rather dramatised, of course. |

I really identify with this song, 'cause I am an East Londoner, mixed race too, but I was brought up here and I have an English accent, yet no one will let me say 'I am English' and you have people that don't treat other races right and are prejudice of religion. And how the beginning starts- at a funeral of a bereaved mother 'After the funeral...', all the time there are stuff in the news and in the papers about youths getting shot, sometimes even like, 5 mins away from my area; you see mothers crying on the TV. Bloc Party (Kele especailly) addresses issues that are close to home, and are real life, real emotions and memories. I apologize that this isn't as deep and thoughtful as the previous comments, but I'm just giving my added opinions. |

This is my opinion (and is probably wrong): I think this song is about someone who has a great deal of pressure but on them to be the light (strobe light- get it?) for everyone and save them. And they have to appear all like glitter (like there's nothing wrong and they're perfect etc.) but inside they aren't like that and feel traumatic and stuff. And the person that makes them feel invinsable and makes them happy isn't there anymore so they're dreaming of that person singing that song to them or something. |
