Black Kids – Look at Me (When I Rock Wichoo) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This is my favorite song off the new album. It has all the dance-feel that Black Kids are so good at, but also pretty good lyrics. Basically just about a girl who he knows has a wandering eye, so he wants to make sure that while HE'S with her, she doesn't do that. She kind of leads him on, and it seems to me like he likes her a lot more than she likes him. A common theme in Black Kids songs, but also with a kind of jealous under-tone, if you ask me. |
Does It Offend You, Yeah? – Battle Royale Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I can see the 6f Days of Static reference. Not the song in particular, but the vibe of it. This song is pretty interesting. I never think I'll like it as much as I actually do. I find myself skipping it a lot, but when I actually do listen to it, I really enjoy it. I think the title is pretty interesting. It fits the aggressive feel of the song. |
Britney Spears – Radar Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This is definately the best song off of the album. |
Owl City – The Airway Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This one is kind of hard to decipher. It seems like she's on a boat, and he's on land, but then "into the airway" throws me off. Possibly she's jumping from an airplane into the sea, but that doesn't seem to make much sense. I'm thinking that they're seperated the sea, like maybe she's on vacation/lives in Europe while he's in America or something. And then I thought that "the ariway" could symbolize telephone communication. Because a lot of people envision talking on the phone as having their words float in the air into the ear of the person they're talking to. So "being in love on the airway" could be them falling in love with each other over the telephone. Just my interpretation. This song is really cute...I'm surprised it doesn't have any more comments, actually. It's the first I ever heard by him. |
A Cursive Memory – A Different Kind Of Love Lyrics | 15 years ago |
He meets a girl who completely changes his view on love. She's not a traditionally easy girl to love, but he loves her all the more because of this. He uses the slightly cliche lines of "caught inside your arms" and "lost inside your eyes", but admits that things can get rough, though it's all worth it because she makes him love her in an untraditional, "different kind of love". The "running backwards and running forwards" is such a nice image. Not only is it a catchy line, but I think it exemplifies the kind of love he feels towards her. One day it's one way, the next day it's another, but she's always "got" him running. |
A Cursive Memory – The Piano Song Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Hahah, yeah, I don't know any one who would classify A Cursive Memory as emo. And yes, I saw them in concert too, and I must agree that they are very energetic. What they may slightly lack in originality they make up for in enthusiasm. I, however, must disagree as to the meaning of this song. I think he's saying he could "turn back the clock" and never say "I love you", because since she didn't return his ardor, his heart broke in two. So although he may actually love her, he wishes he had never actually said it. She doesn't like him back, and this embarasses him because he put his heart on the line and she rejected him. |
Pendulum – Blood Sugar Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Ok, that is the weidest theory I've ever heard...why the hell would you think Pendulum were Nazi sympathizers? Are there some secret messages in their songs that the rest of us are all missing? |
The Postal Service – Against All Odds (Phil Collins cover) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I'm actually not a big fan of this cover. I think it sounds kind of hollow, like they don't believe what they're singing, or like they just rushed through the song to be done with it. I'm a Postal Service fan, but this is definately not one of their best. |
The Killers – Human Lyrics | 15 years ago |
It is definately "dancers". Not only does it not sound like "denser" and the fact that "denser" doesn't make sense in the context of the song, but "denser" just sounds awkward, as most people believe it needs to be "more dense". I'm actually interested with the above post. If it is "dancer" isntead of "dancers". It seems to me to make more sense that he would be saying "dancer" instead of the plural, because "human" is in the singular. So asking "are we human, or are we dancer?" makes more sense. This is a very interesting question, because to me "human" represents an individualistic thing, whereas "dancer" represents something part of a group, or a bigger whole. For example, what is a dancer without music, or a beat, or a dance TO dance, or even other dancers? However, a human can be a human without anything else. So essentially, to me, he's asking "Are we individuals, or do we sink into the crowd?" The "cut the cord" line is interesting too. It makes me think of an umbilical cord, really. When that cord is cut, you are forever on your own. You're no longer attached to your mother. Symbolically, you become an individual for the first time. However, whether or not people continue to be individualistic or not, or fade into the rest of the "dancers", is yet to be determined. |
A Cursive Memory – Perfect Company Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I saw them in concert once, and they played this song and I videotaped it. I stumbled across the video cleaning stuff off my computer and watched it, and I was amazed with the passion in which they played it. It was really adorable. |
A Rocket to the Moon – I Think About You Everyday Lyrics | 15 years ago |
My friend put this on a mixtape for me and we listened to it in the car. It was a very special moment, hahah. |
A Rocket to the Moon – Baby, We're Invincible Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This is kind of that quitesential teenage-type of song about love and relationships. That idea that "omg were goin 2 last 4ever!" type of thing, but a little more sweet than that. It's the kind of feeling you have before things get too serious, but after you've been together for a while. The "wearing my heart on my sleeve", which he admits himself is cliche, is a very teenage-love type sentiment. You trust someone not to hurt you when you put yourself out with, which is a fear I think everyone deals with. The idea that the person won't like you, or that you put yourself out there for nothing. And then the chorus is along the same lines. The kind of simple young love, where you just want to hold each other and "never let go". Adorable song. |
A Rocket to the Moon – Are You Catching My Drift Yet? Lyrics | 15 years ago |
The band breaking up idea makes a lot of sense now. But it seems more personal than that, to me. Like it could be about a relationship, but then again, perhaps he was very close with the members of his band. Cute song, the first I ever heard by them. |
Little Jackie – The World Should Revolve Around Me Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I like how she throws out props to her 'fro, hahah. This is a really cute music video too. I think the vibe of the video really matches the vibe of the song. |
Pale Young Gentlemen – Clap Your Hands Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I absolutely adore this song. I wished more people knew about it and this band. But anyway, that's not alluding to the meaning of the song. I think this is about people who try to forget their worries and problems ("And don't remind me why I'm here") in small but absorbing tasks like dancing, feeding pigeons and "grabbing a girl". The lines that have always gotten me are: "You're out of breath, I see You need a rest, maybe? A little afternoon nap? Let's tear the lid off this thing One more step to go One last dip and that's it I've got more people to see My friends, it breaks my heart" I think it's about how we get wrapped up in menial tasks we forget the real world is out there, i.e., we have to face our problems. We can escape them for a little while ("A little afternoon nap?") but in the end you have to face whatever's worrying you ("my friends it breaks my heart.") Just my opinion. Fabulous song, I love it. |
Cute Is What We Aim For – The Lock Down Denial Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think it's a big song about if you "get away" with something - say, stealing something from a store, do you really get away with it? Not only a crime, but something you simply shouldn't do for moral's sake, like breaking someone's heart or having a one-night stand. Even though you "get away" with it, like, no one finds out you stole the item or the one-night stand it forgotten, you didn't really, because YOU will always remember. You try to deny it to yourself, but really, you're "locked down" by your own guilty conscience. As for the addiction part, addiction is a very broad word. "Addiction" could be to a substance, sure, but it could also being an addiction to an emotion or feeling, like sexual satisfaction. Some people even get addicted to the high they get from stealing something. He could feel trapped by his own addictions, and thus though he may "pay the price for my affliction", he can't escape it in his own mind. And again, the prison doesn't have to be an ACTUAL prison. People say "I'm a prisoner in my own house" and stuff like that, and I think that's the kind of prison he's talking about. |
3OH!3 – Colorado Sunrise Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This is a really cute song. It's probably my favorite by them, actually. I like the ability to be a little more soft. I downloaded it with the name "Colorado Sunshine", though, I'm not sure why it was like that? |
Hollywood Undead – Bitches Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Also, "Get yo' drunk ass over here let's bone" is a very effective pick-up line. I mean, not really, but wouldn't it be funny if someone tried to use it? Hahah. |
Forever the Sickest Kids – Coffee Break (New Version) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
^ Yes, I agree? Hahah. It's a lovely little snippet of a song that I think a lot of people in our fast-paced society can relate to. |
The Decemberists – The Crane Wife 1 and 2 Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song is so gorgeous. It's one of my favorite songs of all time. |
Minus the Bear – Ice Monster Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I thought it was more like he was getting over a girl who had changed in the course of their relationship. Like, "you were once a lion", but she's not any more. But he still stayed in the relationship, hoping she would change back. But then "You've come to this, sigh alone now" he does break up with her, but it still trying to forget that great person she once was. My favorite off the new album, I love it. It was my profile song for quite some time. |
Joe Dassin – Et Si Tu N'existais Pas Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Ah, bonjour, voici un translation complet. :D Et si tu n'existais pas And if you didn't exist (were not alive) Dis-moi pourquoi j'existerais Tell me, why should I [exist] Pour traîner dans un monde sans toi To roam in world without you Sans espoir et sans regret Without hope [and] without regret Et si tu n'existais pas And if you didn't exist J'essaierais d'inventer l'amour I would try to invent love Comme un peintre qui voit sous ses doigts Like a painter, who sees, from beneath his fingers, Naître les couleurs du jour the day's colours being born Et qui n'en revient pas and wonders about them Et si tu n'existais pas And if you didn't exist Dis-moi pour qui j'existerais Tell me, why should I [exist] Des passantes endormies dans mes bras Passing girls, asleep in my arms Que je n'aimerais jamais That I would never love Et si tu n'existais pas And if you didn't exist Je ne serais qu'un point de plus I would only be one other dot Dans ce monde qui vient et qui va in this world, that comes and goes Je me sentirais perdu I would feel lost J'aurais besoin de toi I would need you Et si tu n'existais pas And if you didn't exist Dis-moi comment j'existerais Tell me, how could I Je pourrais faire semblant d'être moi I could pretend to be me Mais je ne serais pas vrai But it wouldn't be true Et si tu n'existais pas And if you didn't exist Je crois que je l'aurais trouvé I think that I would have found Le secret de la vie, le pourquoi The secret of life, the WHY Simplement pour te créer Only to create you Et pour te regarder And to look at you Et si tu n'existais pas And if you didn't exist Dis-moi pourquoi j'existerais Tell me why should I [exist] Pour traîner dans un monde sans toi To roam in a world without you Sans espoir et sans regret Without hope, [and] without regret Et si tu n'existais pas And if you didn't exixt J'essaierais d'inventer l'amour I would try to invent love Comme un peintre qui voit sous ses doigts Like a painter who sees, beneath his fingers Naître les couleurs du jour The day's colours being born Et qui n'en revient pas and wonders about them |
The Pierces – Secret Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I don't necessarily think it's a song about a girl telling another girl that she killed someone and to keep it a secret. More than if the girl tells the secret, then the other girl will kill her. If that makes any sense. |
The Wombats – Backfire At The Disco Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Yes, it is rather catchy. I personally just like the mental image of him being slapped in the middle of the disco, with the flashing lights and gyrating bodies...hahah. |
3OH!3 – Don't Trust Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Definately, this song has some great one-liners that are very clever. I like the "Tell your boyfriend, if he says he's got beef That I'm a vegetarian and I ain't fuckin scared of him" not only because of the pun but also because I'm a vegetarian, hahah. |
3OH!3 – Holler 'til You Pass Out Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song reminds me of Hadouken!'s "No More Eatin'", probably because they're both rather violent. I think it's purposely overly violent to kind of poke fun at all the rap songs that do the same, but I'm not sure. |
Bob Dylan – Honey, Just Allow Me One More Chance Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Mmm, I love his voice in this song. |
Bob Dylan – I Want You Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think this song, as mentioned above, can take on many meanings, depending on what you bring to it. That's the wonderful thing about Bob Dylan's songs; everyone can relate to them, whether on a big or small level. I read once in an interview when someone asked what a particular song was about, and he replied, "Whatever you think it is", or something to that effect. For me, this song puts into simple words what love can do to people. The simple line "I want you" means so much more if you apply it into a loving context. |
Rediscover – Shake It Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Metro Station wishes their "Shake It" was as cool as this one. :] |
Bright Eyes – Soul Singer in a Session Band Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Aww, this song came on yesterday at a restaurant I was at for a school club meeting, and I completely missed about four minutes of the meeting because I was singing along in my head. :] Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous, as is every song on the CD. |
Kate Nash – Mariella Lyrics | 16 years ago |
elfrijol - funny you should say that, I thought the same thing, it's very "Expectations" in the subject matter. A quirky song about a quirky girl. More than just being about a girl who was different, I think it's about how sometimes girls wish they could be like other girls for the most off-beat reasons. Kate Nash is saying she wants to be like Mariella because Mariella is quiet, but what makes Kate special herself is that she is outspoken. So if she were to be more like Mariella, she would lose who she was. Besides the fact that I don't think this song puts Mariella in the brightest of lights. It makes her sound stubborn and anti-social, which aren't very favorable personality traits. Just a different twist on the lyrics. I really love this song, it's probably my favorite off the album. |
Kate Nash – I Hate Seagulls Lyrics | 16 years ago |
God, who doesn't hate seagulls? Thank you, Kate, for vocalizing what we all feel. |
Malcolm Middleton – Fuck It, I Love You Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Agreed, his accent is very nice, and very thickly Scottish, hahah. This song is interesting for the fact that it seems like he's saying "I love you" (or rather, "Fuck it, I love you" hahah) over a "mobile phone". This reminds me strongly of how today's generation communicates so heavily through cell phones, text messages, and Internet outlets. It's like he can't even tell her to her face that he loves her, he sends it through a text. "Pretending I’m pretending that everything’s ok So many masks I’m wearing my own face" is a common lament out of many people of our generation, especially regarding love. They feel as if they can't just be themselves, and plus, it's easier to be someone you're not nowadays, with Internet outlets and the easy, informal nature of text messages and IMs. "I record my mistakes but I never learn" also seems to me to be reminiscent of blogging, or IMing, or texting. They fact that something you say in a text, IM, or blog can be saved and thus looked upon later can be a good thing, but he obviously is finding it detrimental, because he can't learn from his own mistakes anyway. All in all, a very good, and sweet, song. |
The Ting Tings – Shut Up and Let Me Go Lyrics | 16 years ago |
The video is pretty ace as well, but it seems kinda off for the song? Maybe it's just me. |
I Was a Cub Scout – Save Your Wishes Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It's weird, because the music is way happier than the actual words of the song, at least to me. It reminds me of The Boy Least Likely To's "I'm Glad I Hitched My Apple Wagon To Your Star" in that regard. It seems as if the singer is so wrapped up in this person that they're almost the same person ("When you're who we are"). But he realizes that it isn't good for him, as with the chorus. |
Pendulum – Blood Sugar Lyrics | 16 years ago |
The aggressiveness of the music matches the tone of the guy's voice. He's basically like, um, well, I don't really care what you guys think, I'm just gonna dance and you can do whatever. |
Flight of the Conchords – Business Time Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Or maybe they're just happy it's finally Wednesday, goddammit! I have my business socks on, let's GO! |
Flight of the Conchords – Ladies of the World Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Hahah. This song just cracks me up, every time I hear it. I didn't know there was such a thing as amphibian ladies, but apparently I was wrong. I think this guy (these guys) just want some and don't care who it's from. |
All Time Low – Umbrella Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This is my personal favorite off the album, mainly because they made it so different from the original and it still retains the same mood. |
Zebda – Tomber La Chemise Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"Tomber la chemise" is kind of French slang for "to have fun", much like the English "have a ball" or something. |
Ben Kweller – Run Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I noticed the "I have ran", but I kinda like it. It makes the song sound less formal and more personal. |
Emperor X – Raytracer Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Yeah, I couldn't help but smile when I heard that reference. Besides that, I could use some help as to the meaning of this song. |
Ben Kweller – Penny on the Train Track Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song is so beautiful. To me, it's happy and sad all at the same time. Putting pennies on the train tracks is such a carefree, innocent thing to do...and then he comes across this man who has made so much out of his life, while he has dropped out of high school. But the "even lucky man has a bad day and pretty girl has a scar after that train comes and takes me away pick up that guitar and play, just play play that rock and roll for me" seems to me that even when faced with the harsh reality, that you're growing up and out of the putting pennies on train tracks, and that very train is taking you away instead, that you can still find happiness and new carefree-ness in your new reality. |
Set Your Goals – Put Yo Hood Up Lyrics | 16 years ago |
The only actual "crunk" cover off of "Punk Goes Crunk"...aka, pretty amazing. Hahah. (: |
My American Heart – California Love Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Pretty fair, but not one of my favorites off the CD. |
Say Anything – Got Your Money (ODB cover) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Hahahah...yeah, this is really a funny song. A pretty good choice for Max, too, I think his voice fits it well and he really gets into it. Boy wants his money! |
Baumer – Make Way for the King Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song is amazing in concert. (: |
Baumer – In Your Stead Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think this song is about being confused in what you believe in. I can relate - sometimes you feel one way, and sometimes you feel completely the opposite. This deviation in beliefs can sometimes be dangerous ("Live and breath and die for what is not") and it seems to be focused mainly on lust and desires in this song in particular. I love the line "You're running out of close calls". I have a shirt of theirs with that line on it. (: |
The Medic Droid – The Killer Anna Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Oddly sentimental, compared to their other songs. |
Black Kids – I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance with You Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It's funny that you guys say he sounds like Robert Smith, I think he sounds a bit like early David Bowie. |
