Sigur Rós – Rembihnútur Lyrics | 12 years ago |
many thanks for the corrections. ^_^ |
Sufjan Stevens – Now That I'm Older Lyrics | 13 years ago |
hey excellent work. may i suggest a minor change i think theses lines are different from what's above: "I'm not such older than I was, I'm feeling so much righter now" should be: "I'm not such of the man I was, Feeling it so much right and wrong." |
Sufjan Stevens – Vesuvius Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I think that line is = "I rather be burn than be living in debt" |
Sufjan Stevens – I Walked Lyrics | 13 years ago |
hey good job with them lyrics. I just wanted to suggest that it's "With the lust of your loveless smile." |
Jónsi – Grow Till Tall Lyrics | 14 years ago |
from a literal POV i think this song could be about the little seeds buried within a forest floor. which never get a chance to grow until old trees die and fall; creating spaces for the elements to reach them and stimulate their growth. then it becomes a race to the top, whichever plant reaches it claims the spot and guarantees it's survival. metaphorically speaking, this song could be about not letting oneself give into despair when times are hard. we all grow internally from our own experiences in life, whether or not we are capable to completely overcome whatever obstacles we face. it's thru understanding, meditation, looking deep into the self that a way can be found to become free. in the end, these giant walls, will crumble and fall like old trees in a forest. only then you'll truly know the time has come to move on... |
DJ Tiesto – Kaleidoscope (feat. Jonsi) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
thanks... the engulfing hypnotic intro. the cool effects on j's voice. the little 'frakkur-like' samples. neat stuff. i particularly like the dishwasher reminiscent type of drum sounds in between. really soothing and joyful at once. as for the second half. well, that's just good working out music. it's fun. :) |
Yeasayer – The Children Lyrics | 14 years ago |
excellent! I was looking for these. thanks. btw I think there are a few minor mistakes on the transcript above. may want to look into them. We are children and we'll give you trouble If we don't like what you're doing And we thought forgetting is wrong Now we're satisfied, but when we're not We are taking lives and making drones That awful void we plant in front of us reclaims a child Dadadada dada dadada dadada dada Dadadada dada dadada dadada dada dadada We are the children, not the youth, not kids But is not time to pretend, my friend This might just be the end Shadow life that sits outside your doors Will live inside your walls, beneath your floors That awful void we plant in front of us reclaims a child Dadadada dada dadada dadada dada Dadadada dada dadada dadada dada dadada |
Jónsi – Animal Arithmetic Lyrics | 14 years ago |
English Translation: Listening, silent, speak to, creeping Dreaming, wipe off, mustn't touch Paint the body, played on lankingly Running! Playing! Get it on, get it on, fucking on, erupting Get it on, bring it on, fucking on, chocking |
Jónsi – Sticks & Stones Lyrics | 14 years ago |
In through the sleeves, up the spine Over forests, flows down the hill Everything upside down! I’ll never forget! 'Cause I'll never! Runs about, scratches, loosens up tangles (Torn up by the roots) With a look in the eyes! A miracle, a wonder, we break bones asunder! |
Jónsi – Stars In Still Water Lyrics | 14 years ago |
we did meet. nope. |
Jónsi – Boy Lilikoi Lyrics | 14 years ago |
nicely done. thanks. but just so you know j, like many other musicians when performing live, has a tendency to improvise a bit and change or mess around with the lyrics. the above transcript comes from the album version. but I do admit there might be a few minor mistakes on it. anyway, many many tahnks for the input. I'll compare, contrast and correct later on. :) |
Jónsi – Animal Arithmetic Lyrics | 14 years ago |
geez, right. many thanks for being such a wonderful help and contributor to the cause... |
Jónsi – Sticks & Stones Lyrics | 14 years ago |
yes yes this song is a sweet b-side. :) but j wasn't commissioned by DW, the director of 'HTTYD' dean deblois, who directed SR's film 'heima' is a pal of jonsi's. there, lies the connection. |
Jónsi – Stars In Still Water Lyrics | 14 years ago |
this track will be included along with the 'go' limited edition bundle. |
Jónsi – Animal Arithmetic Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I beg to differ, I believe those lines are in english. although I'd like to be proven wrong. :) the usage of the "F" word shouldn't come as a surprise. there's a couple of SR songs where he uses the word "anskotann" which is the icelandic equivalent of that. |
Jónsi – Go Do Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Listen carefully right after he sings "Make you voice break - Sing it out." the little voice samples in the background sound like "Go Go Go! Kitty Kitty Kitty!" |
Jónsi – Boy Lilikoi Lyrics | 14 years ago |
there are also all these references to the sun. consider that a lilikoi is a very round, bright and yellow fruit. the sun also causes trees to loose their leaves in the fall ("you climb and dress trees") and in the spring to gain them back ("you reignite"). also, he admires and idealizes the boy lilikoi but he himself cannot find a way to be as free as him. so the boy lilikoi sings back to him "use you eyes, use your life." that's all the advise he can offer. until time, having taken a toll on him, brings death and so he passes on leaving a legacy behind. radiating like a shiny star in night sky ("you are light"). |
Seabear – Cat Piano Lyrics | 14 years ago |
indeed, animals are present throughout the songs and artwork. Sindri himself sports some of these as tattoos on his skin. mds1286 - that was an earlier draft however the last two lines are different and seem to be a better match. thanks for the corrections. |
Spoon – Well-Alright Lyrics | 14 years ago |
thank you both for your corrections. |
Sin Fang Bous – Lies Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I think you're right about those verses. many thanks. :) |
Bon Iver – Big Red Machine Lyrics | 15 years ago |
note: it should read "fucked up and puked up big dismay." oops. |
Bon Iver – Big Red Machine Lyrics | 15 years ago |
many thanks for the input slowbendingaxe. I see your transcript above is currently unfinished. I've worked on deciphering the lyrics to this song and this is what I ended-up with: Big Red Machine We were safe when love would come in We read our minds, so relieved The earth is but a sad fucked up and puked big dismay We resolved to swim around in circles, so slowly Those cents, you said you sent me Are rolling alone Burning truth along in one light For I'm feeling sad ((((So many killed!)))) We're running their engine Just like we ought to be for them, real hard Could I quitted on or bought in? The sorry might do it But I've move on with more life in me In the big, red, machine 'Cause all I've learned is to suffer 'Cause all I've learned is to suffer 'Cause all I've learned is to suffer 'Cause all I've learned is to suffer 'Cause all I've learned is to suffer 'Cause all I've learned is to suffer ------------------------------------ ------------------------------------ hope you consider and take in the suggested transcript. :) |
Sigur Rós – All Alright Lyrics | 15 years ago |
tilt.shift that was an earlier draft by myself, before I corrected and updated it. |
Yeasayer – Tightrope Lyrics | 15 years ago |
ern... sorry I also forgot to add to the latter that he then switches the actions around to "I'm gonna get it, get it, get it get it until you just can't give no more." also, line five ends in "...wishing you could stay the night" (like what unegamine has up there). |
Yeasayer – Tightrope Lyrics | 15 years ago |
this is a wonderful song among many others found on the "Dark Was the Night" compilation. the above transcript is descent enough, even though is missing a few lines. the corrections by Henneby however are good and a closer match, even though some lines are not in the right order. anyway, the last lines have a mistake in them too. I believe he sings "I'm gonna give it, give it, give it , give it until you just can't get no more." |
Seabear – Hospital Bed Lyrics | 15 years ago |
corrections noted. thanks. :) |
Amiina – Rugla Lyrics | 15 years ago |
indeed there is one, and they use it in many other songs as well. as a matter of fact, the short song "Saga" in performed solely with them. |
Amiina – Ugla Lyrics | 15 years ago |
English Translation: I'm an owl Su-summer owl I'm an owl Su-summer owl |
Sin Fang Bous – Clangour And Flutes Lyrics | 15 years ago |
many thanks for the corrections. :) |
Seabear – Arms Lyrics | 15 years ago |
It's clearly an "m" sound. If it was "rose" he would at least roll the "r" slightly. But that doesn't seem to be the case. |
Sigur Rós – Untitled 9 Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Actually "Untitled 9 (a.k.a.SmáskÃfa)" is a three part b-side that was released as part of the "Untitled 1 (a.k.a Vaka)" single in EU and for a limited time here in the states. Oh and before you folks ask SmáskÃfa means "small disc" in Icelandic. |
Sigur Rós – Ára Bátur Lyrics | 15 years ago |
to anybody interested here is a way of writing the hopelandic parts down: after the second "Ég fór, þú fórst" (æ sól bjú) then teh second half of the song: ýu sól djú-ú se rá djú-uru ýu ra von sól bjú rá ýu ra von tá gvö ýu sól djú-ú se rá djú-uru ýu ra bó ron tvú rá ýu ra von nó gvö ýu sól djú-ú se ran djú-uru ýu ra von ló fjú rá ýu uld ne ber on gvö ýu uru... ýu sól djú-ú se rá djú-uru ýu ra von ló tjú rá ýu ra von fá gvö ýu uld nó fjú-ú se ræ djú-uru |
Seabear – Cat Piano Lyrics | 15 years ago |
^well I strongly disagree it doesn't sound like "out". perhaps he means, that when he gets drunk because his had a bad argument with his girl and he then gets into fights with random guys at the bar. because he wouldn't dare hit his girl. in other words he's projecting his anger against her somewhere else. but I must admit it could possibly be something else. the lines at the end are hard to hear. as for the suggestions by everybody else good job. thanks for your inputs. :) oh and Joshcuba he uses that "Owl girl" expression in "I sing I swim" as well. |
Seabear – Owl Waltz Lyrics | 15 years ago |
^hey thanks for the corrections. |
Seabear – Seashell Lyrics | 15 years ago |
^indeed Sindri seems to greatly admire owls to point of obsession. almost every song in this album has an owl reference in the lyrics and he's even got an owl tattoo. go figure, the man loves them big eyed predators. hey nena4Christ I don't mind the triple post. I see your point there, but you see, if you listen carefully you can distinctively hear how he slightly rolls the "r" in "roaming." remember he's icelandic and they tend to do this when speaking in english. besides "roaming" fits in pretty well as it also means "to wander about without a purpose." |

Sigur Rós – Gobbledigook Lyrics | 15 years ago |
finally, the official lyrics to this song have been made available along with an English translation. it's all gobbledygook of course: You hats make fly into the air You turn umbrellas inside out too often oh no, don't - oh You roofs blow out into the stormy sea You hair stroke and hem blowing Prankster boy You (Lalalala lalalala : Lalalala lalalala) Wind in hair - ooh ooh Wind in hair - ooh ooh Wind in hair - ooh ooh Wind in... (Lalalala lalalala : Lalalala) Your eyes blow sand, tears You gum throw in hair stuck Prankster boy You (Lalalala lalalala : Lalalala lalalala) Wind in hair - ooh ooh Wind in hair - ooh ooh Wind in hair - ooh ooh Wind in.... (Lalalala lalalala : Lalalala) Lalala lai lalala : Lalala lai lalala Lalala lai lalala : Lalala lai lalala Lalala lai lalala : Lalala lai (Lalalala lalalala : Lalalala) (Lalalala lalalala : Lalalala) Lalalala lalalala : Lalalala lalalala Lalalala lalalala : Lalalala lalalala Lalalala lalalala : Lala lalalala |
Sigur Rós – Við Spilum Endalaust Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Here is a translation of the aboce transcript: Við Spilum Endalaust (We play Endlessly) We drove all around Through sun and pebbly dust We all saw so much Even the cradle and asphalt of the world We played (hopelandic) We played (hopelandic) We played The day flows, ever-young Endless, and the brightness Smoke stings the eyes It pops up in my head and now I remember it We played (hopelandic) We played (hopelandic) We played everywhere We all saw so much Saw all and everything in a new light The day flows, ever-young It pops up in my head and now I remember it We played (hopelandic) We played (hopelandic) We played everywhere (hopelandic) We play endlessly We play endlessly together We play everywhere together We sing all together (hopelandic) ------------------------ ------------------------ ------------------- ------------------- btw, credit for the transcript and translation goes to the folks from the SR official MB. you know who you are. :) |
Sigur Rós – Ára Bátur Lyrics | 16 years ago |
no, no "All Alright" is in english. and I don't understand why you posted the translation, it's already on this page. ?_? |
Sigur Rós – Festival Lyrics | 16 years ago |
well if you're looking for something to say, read-along-to or sing-along-to for that matter. I've put together a phonetical transcript using the icelandic alphabetas a source. now, I rather not post these up there, because people might assume those are real lyrics or something like that, and I don't want to open Pandora's box. anyhow, here you go: æ ron un tól de ron ýu ran fó ýu so gvö sól de ron ýu sal te ron ýu sál nó te ró ýu sól nó æ ron gvö sól de ron æ ron fó ýu so gvö sól te ron ýu sal te ron ýu sál nó te ró ýu sól nó ís se ran fa tjú ýu se ron ne tjú ýu se ró vel de tjú uru ýu sá ron ýu drá dlón nó ýu sal te ron ýu san nó te ró ýu sól nó æ ron sól de ron ýu sal nó ýu þrá dló old de ron ýu sal te ron ýu sál nó te ró ýu sól nó ís se non fa tjú ýu se non ne njú ýu se ró vel tjú uru (ljó ljó ljó ljó ljóljó ljó ljó) (ljó ljó ljó ljó ljóljó ljó ljó) ís sel nó man nó tvu ís sel nó man nó tvu ís sel nó man nó tvu (uru uru uru uru uru uru uru) (uru uru uru uru uru uru uru) |
Sigur Rós – Svó Hljótt Lyrics | 16 years ago |
here is a roguh translation: Svo Hljótt (So Quietly) I lean against you, in calm Everything stood still, and you You sang to me so quietly You sang to me so quietly In the moonlight I see you, hunched over In the moonlight you turn into blue dusk I thank you for the hope you have gave me I thank you for the hope... (hopelandic) ------------------- ------------------- btw, credit for the transcript and translation goes to the folks from the SR official MB. you know who you are. :) |
Sigur Rós – Ára Bátur Lyrics | 16 years ago |
here is a rough translation: Ára Bátur (Row Boat) You tried everything Yes, a thousand times Experienced enough Been through enough But you it was who let everything Into my heart and you it was who once again Awoke my spirit I parted, you parted You stir up Emotions In a blender Everything in disarray But it was you who was always There for me It was you who never judged My true friend I parted, you parted (hopelandic) You sail on rivers With an old oar Leaking badly You swim to shore Pushed the waves away But to no avail You float on the sea Sleep on the surface Light through the fog (hopelandic) ------------------- ------------------- btw, credit for the transcript and translation goes to the folks from the SR official MB. you know who you are. :) |
Seabear – Lost Watch Lyrics | 16 years ago |
yes indeed1 good observation. |
Seabear – Sailors Blue Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I see what you mean now thanks. |
Seabear – Midori Green Lyrics | 16 years ago |
yes, on this song, it‘s hard to figure out exactly what he’s singing about. especially, when he mumbles and utters some of the words. I’ve revised the lyrics above, but they still don‘t make much sense in some parts. but, then again. sometimes he tends to write in a very abstract way. I’d really like to see somebody do a better job at figuring this one out. until then this is the best we have. I guess. |
Sigur Rós – Hljómalind Lyrics | 16 years ago |
ern.. that would be "lyric obsessed." hehe typo. |
Múm – Marmalade Fires Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I must admit the chorus sounds a bit creepy. but they might be referring to destroying "baby dolls." considering that the song seems to be about coming of age. so, the burning of all these items is sort of a ritual to mark the occasion. I guess. |
Sigur Rós – Heima Lyrics | 16 years ago |
yes most songs in "hopelandic" sound a lot like garbled english. |
Sigur Rós – Hljómalind Lyrics | 16 years ago |
correct CApe151, this song is in hopelandic. hence the "N/A". now if anyone wants something to look at. I guess you could follow these then: ýu ræ sul non fól ýu ræ sul non fól ýu ræ so uld nó (hmm hmm) ýu ræ son mæ fon ýu ræ son mæ fon ýu ræ son mæ fon old sjí rus old sjí rus ó læ old sjí rus old sjí rus ó læ ýu ræ son mæ fon ýu ræ son mæ fon ýu ræ son mæ fon old sjí rus old sjí rus ó læ old sjí rus old sjí rus ó læ ýu sæ gvæ old sjí rus old sjí rus ó læ old sjí rus old sjí rus ó læ this is, of course all gibberish. I used the icelandic alphabet as a phonetical source to create this transcript. however, these are just approximate to the sounds he makes considering how garbled they are. hope this helps those lyric obsolete like myself. |
Seabear – Cat Piano Lyrics | 16 years ago |
ok I see what you mean. I've corrected the last two lines. |
