Bratmobile – Love Thing Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Admit it Innocent little girls turn you on, don't they? You like to make them cry You like to tell them why You like to grow them up Swallow hard and throw them up I would die to hate you See my heart in my hand Do you really understand? Get my heart out of you're hand Get your hand off my heart I would die to hate you But it's a "love thing" You say you got this "love thing" You think it's just a "love thing" Fuck you're fuckin' "love thing" By the way, your bright eyes are not so encouraging You want my youth so bad You love to see me sad All the sunlight that you say Can never make it go away I would die to not care anymore |

Just saw her on Conan. WHAT a voice! |
Kurt Vile – Freeway Lyrics | 14 years ago |
The only thing I really don't get is the trumpet line. I can't tell if he's talking about a physical trumpet or making a trumpet-like cry. |
Sarah Harmer – Trouble In The Fields Lyrics | 15 years ago |
One reason why I LOVE this album. |
The Dead Weather – 60 Feet Tall Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Knowingly addicted to a troublesome guy whom she knows is a bad influence but in denial by claiming she "can take the trouble 'cause [she's] 60 feet tall." |
The Dead Weather – I Cut Like a Buffalo Lyrics | 15 years ago |
My absolute favorite song on the album. I remember reading the same things LizardKing said. Good interpretation, I say. It was the impression I got. |
Metric – Stadium Love Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Not so hot on the new album, except for "Help, I'm Alive," "Gimme Sympathy," and "Stadium Love" which might be my favorite Metric song ever. I love the way Emily's vocals blend with the music, particularly when she sings "stadium." I also love how she sings "sta-di-UM" at the end and the bombast of the song. It sounds really big. |

BigIdiot87 "And every single time they leave me feeling two feet tall" I like this. |

Oh yeah. It's "give." |
The Raconteurs – Five on the Five Lyrics | 16 years ago |
The only thing I have nooooo idea about is the title itself. "Five on the Five" - what kind of phrase is that? |
The Raconteurs – Hold Up Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Pretty simple, I think: The character hates the modern age. Hence, he holes himself up in his own little world. His friends take him out and show him around, but he just feels jaded by everything he sees. However, a girl catches his eye and eventually opens him up/restores his faith that despite all of the problems in the world, there's still beauty in it. |
The Raconteurs – Consoler of the Lonely Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Also, I love this song, because it articulates so well the feeling of getting caught in bad conversations. God, how I hate getting caught in bad conversations ... It happens too often too ... |

I think bwalshy nailed it. |

Also, "touching" sounds like a VERY de-emphasized "fucking" to me. That doesn't seem like language they'd use though, and "touching" fits better with my interpretation of the song: Jack needs some advice. He's always been an open ear, helping people out with their problems, but he never gets anything in return. He always plays by the rules, does the right thing, and helps people out whenever he can. Despite their problems, people can always be mindlessly "on vacation," because they have good old reliable Jack to help them out. Jack, on the other hand, never gets into trouble but is always burdened with other people's problems. He sorts out people's problems but gets treated like shit (hence, a "trash can with all the information"). Others turn to him, when they run into rough patches in life, but after he solves their problems, they're able to be worry-free (hence, they "seem to find a road that's tough to satisfaction"). Jack, on the other hand, is nothing but the go-to guy, which "isn't cool for [him] at all." Up until now, he's helped others without asking for anything in return (hence why I think the lyric is "prize"), but when he says "Salute your solution, now!" he's demanding - not asking - that people show him a little gratitude. Even though he finds himself wearing the other shoe, he's only asking for the simplest answer. "Someone somewhere" seems to show his desperation, because he can't get over the "little situation" that is "on [his] mind." There are some lines I'm unsure about though. I have no idea about the "in the field to be taught" line. As for the others, my best guesses are: "There's only one, I'm only taking getting and receiving" I think this is him saying he's done with being the go-to guy - that the only solution to being used is to look out for his own interests from now on. "And I got what I got all despite you" He got what he has, despite the lack of support from those whom he's helped. "And I get what I get just to spite you" Moreover, he gets what he gets as a big "Fuck you" to those people now. |
The Raconteurs – Carolina Drama Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"Well now you heard another side to the story But you wanna know how it ends? If you must know, the truth about the tale Go and ask the milkman" Brilliant, as is the whole song. It's so literal. Anyway, although I hear "cripple," I wouldn't put it past Jack to write "triple." |
The Raconteurs – Salute Your Solution Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Are these lyrics from the liner notes? This is what I've been hearing: I think I gave a lot of PROBLEMS my consideration ... I find myself just looking WELL BEYOND my best intentions Ignoring any kinda PRIZE I might receive at all After reading the posted lyrics, I'm hearing otherwise though. |

"that makes me worse off then you are" Her delivery of this line gives me chills. |

Chantal Kreviazuk – Leaving On A Jet Plane Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"Dream about the days to come When I won't have to leave alone About the times that I won't have to say" Leave because of the times she's fooled around on him, which she doesn't want to bring up, because she's "now," and those times are behind them. |
