I can still see her face as she sang the word "Please". After the song ended, I told her I loved her and she told me she loved me. She was sitting right next to me and tears were running down her cheeks as she told me that she loved me. It was the most perfect night of my life. We grew older and apart as time went on. Four years later when I was in college I got a phone call that she had been involved in some kind of illegal drug incident and had been murdered. I still can't believe that happened to the sweet girl I loved. This song will forever make me think of her. I can't listen to it without pretty much crying my eyes out. |

This was one of my favorite songs in 1997. I was 17 and I was a senior in high school. I had my dream girl with my in my truck and we were driving around after a date. This song came on and we both started singing it together. This was one of my high school songs. I would listen to this song on Friday afternoons right after school let out. After school I would jump in my (first) car and go to the beer store then meet up with my friends, pick up my girl, and head to the football game. We'd stay out all night creating all those memories I cherish today. It also just reminds me of going back to school in the Fall and the leaves changing color and the feeling of a new semester starting and meeting new friends and the possiblilty of new love. I listened to this song so much from about 9th grade until I graduated college. It was always on my mix-tapes. burned CD's and playlists. Today I can't listen to this song without missing those wonderful days and feeling a little sad. |
