I know Dan Wilson said it was about anticipating becoming a father but to me it's about death with being in a bar as an analogy of life. When dying you have to leave & where you go depends on how you lived your life but you can no longer stay in this world. "The room will be open till your brothers & sisters come" meaning you've gone before them. "I know who I want to take me home" alludes to a loved one who has died before you & will lead into the next life. "The places you will be from" could be reliving your past memories as you go through death. "I hope you have found a friend" could mean that you were able to find love in your life because love is what life is all about. |
