That comment was made five years ago. Do you genuinely think Loesje is going to care?

Arctic Monkeys – Crying Lightning Lyrics 14 years ago
This song reeks of QotSA - because it was produced by Josh Homme, I know - which is, of course, not a bad thing but a good thing, a very good thing indeed. I'm not an enormous Monkeys fan but I might consider buying this album now. ;3

I LOVE this! Fantastic beat, really reminds me of Depeche Mode/Marilyn Manson in the same way USoE reminds me of Queen.

I think the meaning is very self-explanatory; it's another of Matt's anti-establishment dance-pop singles.

Which isn't to say I don't utterly adore it. ;D

The Fratellis – Lupe Brown Lyrics 15 years ago
My boyfriend's surname is Brown, and when I was listening to this song the other day I asked him 'If we have a baby girl, can we call her Lupe?' He said sure.

I don't think he got it until I explained. Then we had to look up the name. XD Lupe, short for Guadelupe, meaning 'river of the wolf'.

Damn, I love this song. It's so cute. Tippy said it might be creepy, but I don't think so; it's more like a girl who has broken up with someone who she still considers a friend, and she's basically saying 'Hey, I know we're not like that anymore, but I still really like you, and I would hate for you to get hurt, so I'll look out for you OK?'

I should know~ I've been through that kind of thing myself. ^w^

Oh, man. It messed up my comment. D:

-tries again with the rest of it-

Um. That said, I have very little idea what this song is about... X3; Though I'm tempted to think it's something very similar to my analysis of Endlessly. In that...

Boy loves girl (or vice versa, whatever), or perhaps is a little confused over whether he loves her or is just fond of her, and she either doesn't know or doesn't acknowledge it. Maybe this girl is very charismatic or eccentric, or perhaps just a lover of life, which makes me think the first two lines - 'Let your inhibitions go, make every touch electrical' - might be slightly ironic, like he's mimicking the kind of advice she's likely to give.

The boy clearly sees that the girl is very special, and will go far in life, whereas he is quite unsure of himself; he probably thinks he's quite average. So he asks, 'When you're feeling beautiful, will you remember me?' When you're out there, living the life, and I'm still here, working a desk job, will you still remember who I am? Who I was?

'I wanna touch you deep inside, and find the secrets that you hide' - you're so special. What is it that makes you so special? Why are you so different? What are you hiding? And 'when your fears are cast aside' - if you ever tell me your secrets, if you offload your troubles on to me - will you remember me?

'Easily forgotten love'. You don't know it, but I love you, whether it be for better or worse, and because you don't know, it's so easily forgotten. Trampled beneath the rest of your whirlwind life. But it's not so easy for me. Not so easily forgotten. I'll remember, and this will be with me for the rest of my life.

Now, I know the line is 'easily the best I ever had', but I originally misheard it as 'best I NEVER had', and, since then, have sort of thought of it that way when interpreting the song. Were it the best love he'd never had, that would, again, be another line with a soft irony to it; 'this would be fantastic - if it was mine.'

Anyway. Nothing more to say really, other than there was a time not so long ago when I thought of this song as very relevant to me. Relevant in a way other than the one I've described here, though. |3

Muse – Endlessly Lyrics 16 years ago
I hear the first line as 'There's part OF me you'll never know'.

Anyhoo. Endlessly. I love it. The lyrics and the idea behind it are so beautiful. I'm not going to talk about the unrequited/unconditional love thing, despite the fact that that is indeed what I draw from this song, but instead I'll give you an anecdote.

There's a boy (I say a boy because it's a man singing, though it could just as easily be a girl), and he's best friends with a girl. They love each other a lot, and spend a lot of time together. They make each other laugh and smile, and one is always there for the other when they're sad. But the boy knows that it's just a friendship, a strong friendship, and that that's all it ever will be, becaaause...

He talks about 'part of me you'll never know, the only thing I'll never show'. This is a deeper love for her which he has developed over time, but he doesn't want to tell her in case it drives her away from him and ruins his current relationship with her.

The chorus then goes on to say that, even though there is no hope for she and he to ever be together, he'll always love her, just the same, and he'll always defend her and protect her from harm. He 'won't leave her falling', literally that he'll be there to catch her if and when she does fall.

'It's plain to see, it's trying to speak' - the part of him that loves her as more than just a friend is trying to speak out and tell her - 'cherished dreams, forever asleep' - a life they could've had together, if only, but never to be realised.

I feel that, by the final chorus, it's almost like the boy has come to terms with the fact that they can never be, but that's fine. He's happy to just be her best friend, and happy to love and protect her always even though he'll never be loved in return.

'I won't leave you falling, but the moment never comes' - I'll never let you fall. I'll catch you before you can jump.

Just my (rambling, I admit) two cents. X3
