Devendra Banhart – Little Boys Lyrics 16 years ago
I can understand how people get caught up with the finishing lyrics in this piece but why forget about the first half entirely.

I think this song is really a complicated reflection of a male mind.

I am not good with explainations but I will try to produce something at least rudimentary.

His imagination, ego, and lack of confidence leads him to believe that woman are coming for him left and right. This is the face his puts on in the outside world and when he is out there long enough he starts believing it himself to the point where he gets rid of his door. By doing so he finds himself secluded from the outside world and in his true realm as a lonely chap with quite the imagination.

Banhart follows it up with another deep stanza where he details some interesting thoughts. Now the lad is drifting in a dream and able to visualize himself in the present and in the future with a much higher social and economic status then he currently has. And again in his moments of deflation from those thoughts he provides his own safety net stating he does not actually want all those things. And in the end it is actually a struggle between visualizing these things on one end and not wanting to put in or knowing where to put in the effort to make those visions a reality. The final line is a nice kick in of the pure ego effect that I know most males have felt and that it is simply 1) not cool to try, and 2) if I have tried and this is all I've accomplished what the hells wrong with me because it sure falls short of my visualizations.
He just can not be satisfied in the material world as his imaginative one sets the bar.

Now, the next stanza I feel a little less certain on. Tie a little shoelace could be touching on a son or daughter he wishes he had and the sleeping bag to share may point to the desire to have a wife as well.

He can look ahead and visualize these things, he can look back into his imagination at all the fun times he had.

But still still still he wants to marry little boys. Now I do not feel that this necessarily fits in with any part of my analysis but my analysis is only of the first half and this is the second so I would leave it at maybe he doesn't want to think about the first half because it is deflating and maybe Banhart wants what he is getting here. People only concerned with the shock value lines. I don't know I enjoyed the song.

Jens Lekman – The Opposite of Hallelujah Lyrics 16 years ago
Laffz, I signed up for this site for you... Fur Soft As Fur is a song by Boy Least Likely To --> Get the CD because it will sound nice to your ear like fresh strawberries and cream (also from that song)

Anyway, since I am on here now... This is a good song. I like it a lot actually... It relates in some ways to Antony's 'You Are My Sister'

What is his pain in this song? Is his brain in a haze and he has stored such a life in the underground as guilt (as he believes he isn't one to be looking up to) lapsing when he sits desiring to explain himself.

His understanding of the relationship between him and his sister is pretty good too. I feel when he talks about not knowing who she is.
