Reading this just made me see the song in a whole new way. Like everyone else, I focused too much with the word play. But this song has such a greater meaning, it's to his daughter. [ But I won't look at that scar ] He's trying not to live life like he's been damaged and wants to leave all his monsters in the past. [ Oh, my nuclear baby / Oh, my idiot trance / All my idiot questions (Like the stars in your eyes)] He thinks she's ferocious and is amazed by her and her innocence and childlike wonderment of the world for what it is. [ Don't ever say I'm ready, I'm ready I'm ready / I never said I'm better, I'm better, I'm better ] He doesn't want to let her go, he wants to always protect her, he just wants her to have a better life and make better choices. [ I'm thinking now (I got a better way)I discovered a star (I got a better way) Ready set go ] He's changing how he has to see the world because he has this ball of sunshine and he doesn't feel the emptiness of it all anymore. It's really quite beautiful if you think of it like that. Having a little one really does change ones perspective. |

| Such beautiful lyrics sung so raw. It's a deprived lover's passionate serenade. Fiona makes this song completely hers. She has white girl soul. Her singing is so sexy and psycho, it's powerful. Anyone else would not have given the lyrics the naked feeling she does. I enjoyed how angry and vulnerable she got with this song. Seven minutes wasn't long enough. | |

This song is so beautiful. Reminds me of music box music. It's completely haunting. My favorite part is how he sings "That there's a way out." It resonates and could mean what each person person hears in his voice. Either hope or hopelessness. Great song to listen to if you're depressed. |

I really love this song. Probably my fav by them. You don't even need to know the lyrics (although I wish I did!) and yet you feel all the pain in his voice and it just translates. The name is a perfect title for this song. The building movement, the power and turmoil and the destruction. I hope I'm not the only person who has had a messy/rage cry to this song. It's so great ! lol. I sleep to it. |

I really love this song. It really could be the anthem for inbetween/off-on again relationships. Which I am currently in ( and currently off ). So I can relate to this song. It shows the insecurity and uncertainty perfectly. The funny thing about this type of relationship is you kind of don't need to say when you're on or off. Because when you're either you can just assume you'll be the other sooner or later. And sometimes you can't even tell which you want to be. The name shows the immaturity of the lyrics perfectly. Mostly because when you hit a certain age stability reassurance is so critical. The issues kind of feel like things you should have gotten over in puberty. It's like an after school special.. which makes it hard if you feel like actually evolving and the other person would just like to stay the same. I collapse.. I collapse. I thought it was a really cute arrangement of this song on the album. Between a pretty suicidal song ( Knife Going In ) and a really poppy cutesy song ( Back Into Your Head ) kind of adds a bipolar feeling to the song. hahaha |

After reading all the comments above it made me decide this song really is a lot more simple. I think it is about a relative passing and then feeling/being suicidal. "If I don't recover // Sell this house.." Simply inheriting. "Not Forever // On the night I die // I swear I'll sleep outside your window" Being away from each other isn't going to last forever. Most would liked to believe their loved ones stay and watch over them. "I feel the knife going in // I'm feeling anxious // Not enough to kill me // I thought it'd happen fast" I don't know why this didn't ring suicide or cutting to anyone. I think the rest of the song explains itself. I think the comments above will only confuse/annoy other readers. That's the funny thing about this site, sometimes it just really isn't anything deeper than what it says. I think it would help you understand better if you could just relate to the song and really feel the meaning. Otherwise you really would need to do all the backstreet boy background check... what's their favorite food, what color are their underwear, who's their daddy. Just hearing her voice in how she sings this song, the pain should translate it perfectly. Especially how haunting it is when she sings "I let it pass". Even just how the music sounds music box almost. Just sets an eerie tone for their angry/calm singing and it shows how contemplative the lyrics are. Quite simple but still lovely. |

I don't think this song is about sex or relationships. I think it's about God. "Soon as you came in, all the beast went away" When someone is sick or dying people want God to take the pain, anger, fear ( beasts ) away. "They noticed that you're warm, wait till you leave then come back for more" People use the "Go with God" theme for peace but he always comes back for more. "The ropes hang to keep us all awake.." Rope hangs = awaited death. To keep us all awake = alive, aware of time/death. "I noticed what you wore to everything we spoke and more.." I just got a wolf in sheep's clothes vibe. "It only takes one break of your pose to get off.." Basically an idle God. "to save our place.. home with you.." God want his children with him. "still the same song" The way Chino sings that line just sounds so heart breaking. So tired of it just repeating. "As soon as you came in is when I believe we both crashed course" Loss of faith or despising God because of loss and suffering. I could be wrong but I don't think I am. ;) And it's Deftones, of course their music sounds like sex. |
