at first, the concept of religion was a beautiful comforting idea. except some people see it as a good way to make money and fuel their greed, which is why those who question the ideas of some beliefs are shunned. especially in olden days when they burned people at stakes n shit because they questioned it.
these actions put fear into peoples minds that if they dont believe theyre gonna get fucked up and go to hell, and so the "flies dirnk the decaying nectar of their tortured effigy" because although they might not truly believe, they will consume because of FEAR.
the beliefs and visions are wasted because the original true beauty of religion has been fucked with and turned into a tool for greed. the people who consume are therefore spiritually sick because they dont truly believe yet they do everything theyre told because of fear of retribution.
