Interpol – Lights Lyrics 13 years ago
My guess it is about being promiscuous and having a fear of commitment, the partner however knows what is going on and the narrator doesn't even feel like he has to be very inconspicuous anymore because he knows he/she puts up with it and will still be there regardless.

Are you being serious or joking?

That has got to be the worst song analysis I have read in my life. Have you ever heard of a metaphor?

I get the feeling Sam is not a natural song writer, more of a passionatly driven intellectual.

Bright Eyes – Amy in the White Coat Lyrics 16 years ago
In my opinion, I can say without a second of consideration, is the best song ever written, its scary, when I first heard it, it was on in the background and i thought it was a passionate love song, which I guess it is in sorts. The best line has the be "It's your naked body on white velour" Its the innocence and beauty in the line, its quite scary how it is almost romantasised in this song, it stirs endless emotions.

I love it.

Bright Eyes – Lover I Don't Have to Love Lyrics 16 years ago
I think, sorry if someone has suggested this already, that this song is about cheating. The first verse I find self explanatory, except the out of prying eyes line, which I came to understand as being a double meaning, obviously the whole not having sex in front of people, but also the fact that if you had a girlfriend there could be someone that knows her in the club. Then its all very self explanatory, until the bad actors bit, which I think is a look at himself pretending he dosn't have someone at home waiting for him, but
"You didn't care to know
Who else may have been you before"
she dosn't seem to care.

"I want a lover I don't have to love
I want a boy who's so drunk he doesn't talk
Where's the kid with the chemicals
I got a hunger and I can't seem to get full
I need some meaning I can memorize
The kind I have always seems to slip my mind"

This bit is the sums up the story to me, the meaning he has that slips his mind is the woman he is with in maybe a serious relationship and what they have together, and the girl who is too sad to give a fuck, and also the love hurting lines are maybe a cynasism that you develop at love, and the realisation that it was always drastically oversold, and it is not all smooth sailing and it dosn't stay exciting forever.

I don't know if that makes sense to anyone, I think its might be just my outlook of alot of things that makes me think this.

But then again it could also be about getting loved up and falling chemically in love with someone for a period of time.
