This song is fabulously eerie, dripping with imagination and melancholy loneliness.

King Missile – It's Saturday Lyrics 16 years ago
I believe this song completely sums up my generation. There are too many people striving to be different, just to feel as though they have some claim to life. But in always having to be different, they often forsake who they really are
i.e. "I want to look in the mirror and wonder, 'who is that person? I've never seen that person before; I've never seen anyone like that before."
Nonconformity merely for the sake of nonconformity is simply another type of conformity in itself, is it not?

Straylight Run – Who Will Save Us Now? Lyrics 16 years ago
I think it's foolish to argue about whether or not this song is anti-establishment. I don't think that's what they were trying to bring across at all. They're warning people against any form of sacrifice of one's own will. Ayn Rand would like this song, I believe. It tells people to stand up and live for themselves, not for anybody else. That, I believe, is the true purpose of the song. Nobody DOES know what's right for you; only you can decide that for yourself.
In fact, I find it kind of ironic that this has spurned so much argument here. It seems to suggest that everybody here is trying to decide for themselves. Which is wonderful. But deciding for yourself is bound to lead to some disagreements. But in the end, that's all worth it.
