i love this song. i took it as meaning, like his friends are only his friends because they can get some benefit through them. i'm thinking they want to get ahead in the music business, and they know he can get them connections. ("all those places we went to see sights just gave them excuses to get into the game") There's a look in the faces tonight that's untrustable As the hope that you'll never return in a while But you're always on time, so . . . his friends look untrustable because they're so fake. he doesn't even trust them enough to know if they'll ever speak to him again. frankly, he doesn't want to continue his friendship with them anyway, so he's bummed that they're always on time and keep showing up. the back of the car feels like home to him because no where else feels like home. he can be alone, because at home, those people always bug him. i don't know, that's just how i took it. beautiful song. i love the bass. |

i adore this song. in my opnion it's more catchy and remix-y than the original. i like it better, but that's just me. it's obviously just about a goldfish. stop overthinking it, kids. dropsy is a disease in goldfish. and the floating upside down thing cannot be really be about much else. haha. i really like the meaning. kutos to pinback for such creativity and a great song. but dan just has a stronger voice that completes the song. |

She tells him how awful her life was before him. The narrator asks how he could ever leave her. They were so in love; it didn't make sense. She wishes he had simply broken up with her. He wouldn't have died. Maybe he killed hmself? Car accident? That's always how these love stories end up. This song is so bizarre, but I love it. |

i bought this song three days ago, and since then, it's had 204 plays on my ipod/itunes. i completely agree with movements on the meaning. dead on. i've disliked dashboard confessional because their shallow, poppy lyrics and vocals on their recent cd, dusk and summer. this cd, however, feels like they're trying to buy back their old fans. i, personally, only like this track. the rest just feel rushed. dashboard will always be amazing, some bands are just better. |
