Placebo – Space Monkey Lyrics 15 years ago
yes in shakespearean poetry to die can mean to orgasm
for example in romeo and juliet (which, I think, there is a placebo song for!) juliet says "and when I die he shall be cut out in little stars..." and this is a double entendre because she both has sex with romeo and later dies with him

Bedwetters – A Dramatic Letter to Conscience Lyrics 16 years ago
firstly: it's awesome I'm the first person to comment on this band!

k, back to the song:
ok its clear he's writing a letter or diary entry about something he's done wrong, or that was done to him. he keeps saying "leave me alone" and you have to wonder if he's talking about his conscience or another person:
"why are you, my conscience, needed for"
also he says
"dont beat me for long, your fists are heavy, filled with hate" and again this could mean his guilt/conscience is beating him or it could mean he was attacked. maybe someone hit him because they were angry that he lied to him: "cause I have seen how lying pays"
k so maybe he lied to his girlfriend about something and she hit him in anger and they broke up and now he's writing about how guilty he is...
except it says "this conversation with myself has taken place before" so maybe this is something he has done before

Vanessa Carlton – This Time Lyrics 16 years ago
I think its "a flickering" not "I flick a ring"

I think its probably that she's in a very difficult relationship and her boyfriends putting a lot of expectation on her but she does't want to give up, she want to make it work "this time"

Wir Sind Helden – Die Nacht Lyrics 16 years ago
Also the beginning of Denkmal:
"Komm mal ans Fenster komm her zu mir"
is a bit like the beginning of this song:
"Stell dich zu mir hier ans Fenster"

Wir Sind Helden – Die Nacht Lyrics 16 years ago
The girl and her boyfriend are together, in the bedroom. at first he's awake:
"place yourself next to me here at the window and look out into the night"
(Stell dich zu mir hier ans Fenster
und schau in die Nacht hinaus)
but later he falls asleep:
"And you fell asleep anyway"
(und du schläfst einfach trotzdem ein)
Perhaps she wanted to sleep with him but he fell asleep first. And she's watching him as he sleeps and he is all she can think of, and she feels like the moon, the night, the whole world is in love with him, like she is:
"just as I am" (genau wie ich)
a beautiful song, perhaps my favourite from this band

Placebo – The Metric System Lyrics 16 years ago
Interesting song :D At first I thought it was about drugs (they wanna buy it in kilos, they wanna buy it in grams) but then I realised theres that bit at the beginning about a rock star jerking off and then selling his frozen sperm to celebrity lesbians o.0
A deeper meaning might be that its about celebrity culture and the ridiculous things it can make people do, but I'm not sure
