The B-52's – Party Out Of Bounds Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Proto-typical, classic B-52s...almost all their songs 'mean' this...a big party, a big joke, not taking anything (especially themselves) too seriously. "OK, who ordered pizza?" Definitely a party out of bounds... |

Talking Heads – Burning Down the House Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Byrne DID say that the song meant nothing at all. He said at the time (paraphrasing) "I really admire songwriters who can actually write a song about something specific." I think he was just being coy, though. Byrne is too intellectual to write a song about nothing at all. The nuclear holocaust theme does seem to fit the lyrics almost to a tee. |
Talking Heads – Psycho Killer Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song is not about specifically about Sam Berkowitz. Byrne said he tried to imagine what a psychotic killer would be like...to make up for his irrational longing to kil people, the killer would imagine himself to be a harmless, perfect gentleman, that spoke French, and was irritated when people were "not polite." |
Talking Heads – Crosseyed and Painless Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Byrne likes to play with abstract ideas, and art images. He commented in a NY Times interview that he liked to do things like collect photos of hands, blow them up and then arrange them on a wall “until they make sense to me”. That said, I think he was playing with the idea of actually becoming formless, being disembodied; the intellect would have no physical clues, and start deconstructing and obsessing about “Facts.” Just my feeling, I´m probably way off the mark… |
Gary Wright – Dreamweaver Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Hey Gary: When I was about 10 years old, my parents had a house in Lake Carmel, NY. I was a friend. We saw this older guy sitting in the front of the lake kind of staring. We asked him what he was doing, he said "thinking of song lyrics". He said his name was Gary, and was in a group called Spooky Tooth. A few months later this song was released. I always liked to think maybe he was composing this particular song when he spoke with him that day, so long ago. |
The Beach Boys – Heroes and Villains Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Paul McCartney said at the time of this song's release that it had the greatest harmonies he had ever heard. That's what makes the song--the harmonies. |
