This may be one of New Found Glory's most catchy songs. It seems with each album they keep getting better and better. While everyone is waiting years for a new Blink-182 album, these guys make waiting much easier lol
The song is about a guy who was in a relationship with a girl. The girl basically was confused and didn't know whether she loved the guy or not. So she strung him along until eventually he realized she doesn't really like him. He is getting over her but it's hard.

This song is almost definately about coming out of depression. Speaking as one who has experienced it, the words of this song truly reflect the feeling. Hopelessness, darkness, and feeling down.

I have to say this song is mainly aimed at guys.
Every guy meets that point in their teenage life when they feel lonely. They've been through a couple of relationships that didn't amount to anything and left them heartbroken.
This song nails it on how it feels to just be lonely and feel incomplete without a girl when you thought it was going to work out with her.

I can see how this can be about drug use. But it can be interpreted differently.
For me, it's about a young girl who never really experienced love. A boy came along and tried to give her that experience, but she just ignored the attempt. Her "black balloon" was living her life the way she was and never doing anything to have love in her life. |
