The Band – The Weight Lyrics

This song sounds like a simple story, but there are lots of underlying religious themes i.e. Carmen and The Devil, Judgement Day etc...
Awesome song, and probably the best live performance by a band ever (in my opinion at least) in the concert film 'The Last Waltz' - they're rediculously tight in that. |

I love this song, easily one of my favourites, and in my opinion, their most touching piece of work.
It fits in with the whole concept of the Hotel California album, about how there's more to life than rock and roll, and we only see the surface of other people's emotion.
I think it's generaly about moving on, whether it be from a past lover, or moving on and dealing with reality. |

Cream – Falstaff Beer Commercial Lyrics

This has a really catchy riff, reminiscent of Sunshine of Your Love in my opinion. I think that riff was wasted on an advert really; could've made a very catchy song. |

Quite a random song apparently, but I think there's themes of innosence and childhood in the first couple of verses, then of aldult life and growing up in the last two. |

I think this song is brilliant, very catchy in some parts. It's hard to find a meaning in the lyrics as it seems to me a very straight forward story.
Still quite an under-rated song though. |

Derek and the Dominos – Bell Bottom Blues Lyrics

Amazing song, especially the solo, there's a tonne of emotion in it. A song about unrequited love in my opinion (as is the whole "Layla..." album) most likely the love of Pattie Boyd, and this woman doesn't want to be with him, and he's basically begging for her.
Then again it may not fit in with the whole Pattie Boyd situation. |

"The Wheelchair song" as Plant called it. About his ankle of course, and their trip to Morocco (and Jersey - "The Devil's in his hole" line referring to the to its namesake on Jersey).
Though I like to think there's something deeper in the lyrics, and there's a good chance there could be. |

Amazing cover. Even though it wasn't intended, I think this serves as a brilliant tribute to Jimi Hendrix. After all, Clapton was one of his good friends. |

Derek and the Dominos – Layla Lyrics

Jim Gordon wrote the paino coda at the end of the song which was featured in the movie Goodfellas.
Allman's slide work is amazing in the solo.
This song's about Patti Harrison (as were most others on the Layla album). |
