Kansas – Icarus - Borne on Wings of Steel Lyrics
| 15 years ago
|
I think it is most definitely about flying, literally, in a plane, but he is using to show that he is free from the people telling him what to do, because he is so high up, no one can talk to him. He is free. If you listen to Icarus II (not a great song...) it talks about a guy who loves to fly planes, but now is in war because of his talent and was chosen to do what he is good at and he dies for it. |

love it. My second favorite under Icarus. I actually wrote a song called treacherous storms before i heard this, and It's along the same theory of using storms as a metaphor for troubles. |

the "demon's" say on the pinnacle. Almost the same exact song, but this time it's about the evil one's say. They have the mark of cain, just as it says in the pinnacle. |

Kansas – The Pinnacle Lyrics
|
Highly reminds me of Beowulf. He beats grendel (demon foes, mark of cain) then tries to beat his mother but desn't actually kill her but thinks he did (hide my face). He then became king and everyone loved him (king without a crown). Afer this grendel's mother comes back as a dragon and tries to kill everyone and he has to kill her (I tore the heart of doom). He actually reached into her and tore out her heart. After this, as they both went down to their watery grave, he saw beyond the tomb. It's obviously not about Beowulf, but it just really reminds me of it. It is this man's story. |

Kansas – Icarus II Lyrics
|
It seems to me that this is "part 2" of Icarus (duh)... because the first part says he wants to fly and he is free. He is doing it for fun. But this part he has been chosen as a great pilot and has been put into the air force. Now his hobby has turned into something he doesn't want to do, and he is going to die for it. |

Kansas – Play the Game Tonight Lyrics
|
Short, sweet, to the point. The music business is more boring than it looks. I'm in a band myself, we've been together for two years, our songs are getting boring, so we're making new ones ("over, and over, till you do it all over again."). Also, we're only at the point of making a demo. Look us up! BANDWAGON INFERNO. |

Kansas – No One Together Lyrics
|
This song is so great! The instrumentals and the vocals and lyrics are absolutely stunning! It's about finding what it is your living for, and just like I think, it seems like whichever one of them wrote this (I think livgren) thinks that the meaning of like is being together as one, but we all fight and cause problems so our mwaning of life falls. Great song! |

R.E.M. – Accelerate Lyrics
|
well this is my second favorite song by REM. I saw them live on friday and it was awesome, but for some reason they didn't play this, end of the world, or everybody hurts. Ya this song is definitely about being trapped in something (like the republicans) and wanting your ideas to shine through but the opponent's ideas are trapping you in and not letting you "accelerate." |

Sweet – Love Is Like Oxygen Lyrics

all-time favorite song. ever. It doesn't seem to be very well known, but sweet really is an amazing band, great harmonics and everything. In fact, I want to know how they did those cool bass voices. Does anyone in that band really sound like that?? |

They Might Be Giants – Ana Ng Lyrics
|
you never know if the person you love is the right person for you since there are people all the way across the world that may be better - ana ng is an asian name, meaning she would be from china, but since they really dont know anyone named that (i think) they cant be in love with her - "we still haven't walked in the glow of each other's majestic presence" |

They Might Be Giants – Museum of Idiots Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
um....i see that stuff in the last three parts, but not the first verse and the chorus. In the first i see the fact that he doesn't like the place that he lives, and in "here in the museum of idiots" he means that this whole world is messed up and doesnt know what life is for, therefore they dont know what to do with love. "If we had any brains, we wouldn't be in this place."
I'm in a ska band, I love this song!! |

The Beatles – When I'm Sixty-Four Lyrics

This song makes me think about the fact that older people never scramble about love, they love one person only, and that's it. But teenagers and people that age can never stick with one person, they don't know what it means. |

citar!! Vishal wall has got this down completely, at least the way i think of it. Even though this song majorly sounds like drugs, its deffinitely way more than that. Harrison is a genius. |

The Beatles – She's Leaving Home Lyrics

not only is this song about johns article-reading, which is true, But it also says that the seclusion of this girls mind inside her house is making her crazy, and her parents spoiled her not knowing that she wanted what money could not buy, which is fun in company. |

The Beatles – Fixing a Hole Lyrics

Ya, the beatles have always had really straight-forward lyrics, and their later stuff often had a lot of stupid (pardon) references, like fixing a hole in the roof. I see no drug references in this song. I never see any metaphors in beatles stuff. |

Streetlight Manifesto – The Blonde Lead the Blind Lyrics
| 16 years ago

When looking at the name and relating it to lyrics, i can say that second amendment is right. the blonde are the power in the magazines that draw in all the people and make them not notice the real world. I think the powers that be are the press, and neither god nor government. |
