Modest Mouse – Styrofoam Boots/It's All Nice on Ice, Alright Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Same here. |
Saul Williams – Sunday Bloody Sunday (U2 cover) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
The sign of a good cover is using the exact same words and meaning a totally different thing. Irish repression to hobos/slums/ghettos. I mean U2 IMO opinion is one of the greatest bands out there, but if I was Bono and heard this, I'd be damn proud. This is like Cash covering NIN's Hurt. Both versions of this (and Hurt) absolutely kick serious ass. |
Arcade Fire – Keep the Car Running Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Sufjan Stevens – Casimir Pulaski Day Lyrics | 14 years ago |
That's what I thought of too, but I think it's supposed to be ambiguous. |

Cake – Long Line Of Cars Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think the "single explanation" is why they would want the person. not the "you" itself. |
Saul Williams – Gunshots by Computer Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I bought the "Niggy Tardust" album for this song and after hearing "WTF!" and "Sunday Bloody Sunday," It was a purchase well made. Rock on Saul, rock on NIN. |
Modest Mouse – Black Cadillacs Lyrics | 15 years ago |
What in the hell are you smoking? |
Blue October – Congratulations Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Oh fuck off. Twilight's overrated. Besides this was written before and has more meaning than pop book made into a fad movie. Screw Twilight. Go real artists. |

This song makes stalking sexy. (And Alliteration Awesome!) |
Death Cab for Cutie – Soul Meets Body Lyrics | 15 years ago |

The Veronicas – Untouched Lyrics | 15 years ago |
The dual "La la la" bit is creepy as hell. Good song though. |
U2 – Breathe Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Has a nice Dylan vibe in some of the verses. |
Tunng – tale from black Lyrics | 15 years ago |
It seems like a collision of old and modern times. "She washes all the young blood from her hands in the sink And she knows that the lights will be there for her Breaks down the bodies to dark subtle ink And she scrawls on the parchments that hang in the air" Washing fresh blood from her hands after a murder, she is quick because the lights (police) will be there soon. Dark subtle ink is blood, which she leaves in some places from her rushing to escape. "She rides a horse over stones in the night And she closes her eyes and lets go of the reigns She knows the radios run through the night And she knows that the lights leave the prettiest stains" She is fleeing on horseback, and just lets go because she knows she is going to be caught, so might as well have fun. Radios are the police (in cars or something of the sort) communicating to catch her. And when they catch her they will beat her and jail her, the stains are the bruises both physically and mentally. "She builds a shrine and a typing machine And she curls up to write down her tales from the black Prays for a soft breeze and cool gentle rain And she prays for the bodies that rise slowly back" Writes a confession in a very "last ritual" sort of way. "Tale from the black" being the murder and how she committed it. The weather prayers are so that she can feel them one last time before she is jailed. The praying for the bodies that rise back is for the soul(s) of the murdered to have forgiveness on her and to not haunt her consciousness. "She knows the dunes where the steel cities grow And she knows when they jail her they'll grind down the key She knows the lights lay the heaviest blows And she knows that the sand must submit to the sea" She is from a village like area, but she is going to be jailed in a city-like area permanently. The lights (cops) are her captors, and that the "heaviest blows" are the taking of her freedom. The sand/sea is a metaphor that she has to let it happen because she did commit a crime. "She builds a bird out of plywood and gold For to carry the old souls on up to the sun Turns on the TV and sits in the cold And she dreams that sometimes she's the prettiest one" Seems like a flashback she has during imprisonment. She is somewhat insane (bird building), and old. The bird to carry the souls is her memory of loved ones and family members who have died previously, and now she is alone. She has very little, a TV and no heat, and remembers an old love who has moved on or died. "Prettiest One" being a pet name or something that her love had called her. She wants him back. "She knows the thrill of the chase in her veins And she knows that the sinking's a trick of the light Prays for the silence and cool gentle rain And she prays that the radios run through the night" She remembers her fleeing and the "sinking" is the darkening of her cell of the sun going down, giving her the illusion of sinking into the dark. She wants silence and cool gentle rain so that the sound of the rain can help her sleep. She prays for "radios to run through" the night so that she is not the last one to commit a crime. Just my thoughts. |
Nine Inch Nails – 1,000,000 Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Hey I'm a 17yo kid who sees himself as a pretty big fan, but I have to agree with you. Haha. |
Limp Bizkit – Hot Dog Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Gee, maybe he only encouraged us to steal from Interscope and release TWO FREE ALBUMS. And leaves tickets in hidden spots for fans to find to go to his shows. He's more of a man and musician than Durst is. |
Nine Inch Nails – Memorabilia Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Yes he is. |
Nine Inch Nails – Memorabilia Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Trent also tends to hide deep meaning under obvious sexual themes. And some tend to get somewhat homosexual if you look from the guy's point of view. Some, like Ruiner, Big Man With A Gun, and many others. Either way, great song and Trent's still and will remain a genius. |
Nine Inch Nails – Every Day Is Exactly the Same Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Like Wanted? Haha. I agree with your favorites though. |
Bruce Springsteen – State Trooper Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Thats probably a lot better than what happened to me, I had "F*** the Police" by N.W.A. playing when I got pulled over. |
The Rural Alberta Advantage – Frank, AB Lyrics | 15 years ago |
It's about the Frank, Alberta rockslide that buried a town when it imploded on itself from over-mining. Google it. |
Nine Inch Nails – The Great Destroyer Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I concur. |
Nine Inch Nails – The Great Destroyer Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Oh shit. I just realized/felt that. |
Nine Inch Nails – The Warning Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I took it more as the a group being warned by The Presence and the cry was the trampled, oppressed masses. And that the tyrant's time is running out before they suffer the sword. |
Nine Inch Nails – Every Day Is Exactly the Same Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I love NIN. And damn me if you want but this is one of their best songs. Trent's angst and apathy are apparent (lol alliteration) and it just kills. I think its about everybody, doing the same thing day in day out and never speaking out more than voting or writing letters to the editor and stuff. It a sarcastic call for action from the masses to promote their views whatever they may be. Or maybe I'm off horribly. |
Moby – Flower Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I like to think that this song is from a slave's point of view during the pre-civil war era. I don't know what "green sally" is referring too (sounds like "bring sally up, bring sally down") but "lift and squat, gonna tear the ground) sounds like working in fields. "Ol' Miss Lucy" might have been their previous "owner" and perhaps was nicer to them and "left me here to weep and moan" means the pain and suffering from heir new owner who perhaps is a little meaner. That's just what i get from it. |
Moby – Honey Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Techno, Electronica, whatever you want to call it, Play definitly was one of his best records. The bluesy feel makes it awesome. As for the song...well, i think perhaps that when his girl comes back home after cheating on him he gonna "get rid of" the other guy (first two lines), and perhaps live with his girl till they're old (hump in my back) and retire somewhere else (im goin over here) I don't know. Get your own meaning from it if you want, thats just the way i see it. |
Moby – Extreme Ways Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Ixes. This song was written before The Bourne Trilogy. It may appear to be important to the movie(s) but i don't think it is. |
Talking Heads – Burning Down the House Lyrics | 16 years ago |
You know I could've listened to this son a million times and I would have never picked up the subtle nuclear references, Damn. The Talking Heads stiil are sweet though. |
