"We were a goldmine and they gutted us " could mean a number of things; but I think one of the meanings could be talking about how the drug dealers, bad influences, bad kids, and other things of that nature "gutted" or took all the good things Conor and the girl had to offer. It could be mainly money (for drugs), but I think it could also refer to the bright futures, good grades, good health, too. anyone else see what i mean? what do you all think? |

i heard this song for the first time a couple weeks ago and fell in love with it in literally two seconds of hearing it. I love how he goes from saying "love is the only answer / everything else is just a train wreck" to "sounds to simple / love is the only answer / when love's a train wreck you're a mistake" It seems like he is taking back his words and deciding that we want the only answer to be love; but, in reality that isn't the case and that love can't be the only asnwer, as much as we all want it to be. Sometimes love actually becomes a trainwreak because we try so hard to make it perfect and exactly how it "should" be. no matter what though, this is a beautiful song, so much emotion and truth to it. |

this song is definetly my favorite of all time. nothing can top it. the lyrics are beautiful especially how it starts, "Amy's got a baby in her stomach, She took my hand, I felt it kick, So she's crying and glowing, She's three months and showing, Seeing her now makes me want to live." i love how he says a baby in her stomach instead of saying that she is pregnant, it just makes it that much better. |
