in fugazi's defence... most of Freud's work IS about dicks and ma's. I hadn't picked up all of the anne frank stuff until reading it here. I'd heard some of it obviously but didn't realise the volume of it. I think Fugazi's interpretation is correct but I don't think this song has one particular meaning. |

it's hard to read too far into Biffy's lyrics because they're normally nonsensical but i think that this song is about being pretentious and how being pretentious seems like a good way of leading life but inevitably leads you to being alone. |

Firstly this is one of the best songs on the album and has a lot of god dang plays. Now I think I read somewhere that Dessa has a Philosophy degree or something along those lines... I'm studying Philosophy and I think that the lines

are about this guy Bertrand Russell. From what I know, Russell basically denied everything and strongly believed that Religion is actually just superstition and despite the fact that it has some good points causes more harm. Iuno what it means in this context really but it looks like it's just some sort of nihilistic outlook on life. |

i think this song is about somebody you admire but dislike in person. but then again biffy always seem to use vocals as an instrument rather than to get a message across. |
