The Fray – How To Save A Life Lyrics 15 years ago
It's a great song, no doubt. Played at one of my friends funerals :(

It is actually about the singer, Isaac, a while ago, when he was involved with the whole Big Brother / Big Sister mentoring program, to try and get kids / people with drug habits back on track.

Isaac's kid he was tutoring committed suicide, and thus the song was written about this. Very emotional song.

Avenged Sevenfold – Unholy Confessions Lyrics 16 years ago
Looking at some of the comments on the first page, I couldn't disagree with you more.

Atreyu and Avenged Sevenfold are both very unique sounding bands, and I don't think I've EVER thought they sound even remotely similar, and to suggest that is absurd.

This song is a ripper, and I would actually go so far as to say its A7x's best.

"Nothing will last in this life,
our time is spent constructing,
now you're perfecting a world... meant to sin." - this gives me the idea that it is religiously based, yet there are some sections that hint otherwise.

Everyones favourite line "I know its hurting you, but its killing me" and its predecessive line represent heartbreak, and possibly a break up.

The title of the song, Unholy Confessions would refer to sinning, and confessing to pledge forgiveness.

It's an interesting concept, and a very hard song to comprehend.

Yes it is about religion and its implications, but I dont believe it has anything to do with Americans putting to much trust in the Iraqi's.

I agree with the above, its a more general overview of Religion and its negative impacts that it has on the worlds society.

And At Least I Know I'm A Sinner further mirrors this point of view.

Atreyu – The Theft Lyrics 16 years ago
Why is it that on every Atreyu song I go into, there are always people posting about the changing styles of Atreyu, how they're "shit" now.

They have changed, for better or worse is completely irrelevent. This is SongMEANINGS.net - so how about we just stick our comments to what we believe the song is about, or don't bother posting at all.

Also, youre a sad cliche, please dont post the lyrics, if you think theyre incorrect, pm them to a moderator, but what you did doesn't help, it just adds to the confusion and spam.

The song itself is fairly hard to interpret, so if in doubt, go to the Title: The Theft. In this mindframe, its possible the song is about the theft of a soul, or even of his life, or something of that effect.

"If he gives they will take away his passion his pain his grace" - I believe this is representative of my previous comment, that if he gives in, then his soul will be stolen, with the words "passion, pain and grace" representative of the soul, or whatever it is that is being stolen, hence the title.

The way the song is sung would suggest that it is supposed to imply a sadness to it, so that the thing that is being taken is his last hope, or his last object of any worth.

Its a tough one, but thats my best interpretation.

Bullet for My Valentine – Hearts Burst Into Fire Lyrics 16 years ago
I actually think its about the pro's and cons of war.

Being so far away from loved ones and the things you are used to, as opposed to the passion of fighting for your country.

This would explain the "hearts burst into fire" hypocrisy.

"It hurts, wounds so sore, now Im torn, now Im torn" - I believe he is torn between the passion of fighting for his country, belying the urge to go home, to loved ones that hes been away from for so long - "Do you remember me at all"

TheLoveBelow - Please don't repost the lyrics to the songs; if they are incorrect, as it seems they were in this case, then please post them to an Admin or something.

And also, I dont think its necessary to put in the *hardcore voice* - its called a scream, and people can tell what type of voice the singer is using without that being there.

But thanks for the post anyways, dont mean to sound bossy, and thanks for verifying the lyrics, even though you should just post it to an admin in future.

And for those who continuously post saying "This is the only good song on the new Atreyu album" - don't. Thats your opinion on the changing styles of Atreyu, and it has nothing to do with the meanings of the song.

And it often causes several posts of flame, so please refrain - thanks.

Atreyu – Honor Lyrics 16 years ago
Self titled "honor" - its obviously about honour, and holding your own - "We'll fight our battles, we'll wage our wars, settle the scores with honour and blood"

Its about fighting it out to the death, or to "the dawn" and maintaining your own honour and respectable self image.

A great song from Atreyu's new album "Lead Sails and a Paper Anchor" - very inspirational.

Atreyu – Blow (feat. Josh Todd) Lyrics 16 years ago
First off guys, remember this is: SongMeanings.net, not "Lets complain about the changing styles of Atreyu.net"

I saw them live, Brandon is the singer, but I'm sure you could tell that anyways ...

The song was made by Dan, who wanted to create a really intense metal song, and I think he's done an alright job.

In my opinion its about critics, not just of Atreyu, but of that type of music. "Shut your mouth we've heard it all," - its referring to the fact that everyone seems to be able to be a critic.

Alex said there was no real deep meaning to this song, but that it simply reflects their deep seeded enthusiasm for metal, as well as hardcore, as well as conveying thoughts on critics trying to bring them down with their words.

Those words are ordered to be 'blown out the back of their heads' - not in a suicidal manner, but much in the same way that words are told to be swallowed, etc.

Parkway Drive – Carrion Lyrics 16 years ago
Lol we grew up on the street adjacent to Parkway Drive, in Ewingsdale, called Thomas Crescent. My mum used to babysit Winston when he was like 5-10, and I grew up with him as the older kid in our neighbourhood.

That doesnt help me figure out what the song is about though. Its a great song, I love in particular the "Tear me apart from the inside out" bit.

My interpretation of the lyrics are as such:
Carrion [The flesh of a dead being; possibly died and left his loved ones behind, regretfully]
In a moment I'm lost [In a moment I'm dead]
Dying from the inside [Rotting away; OR losing a girl, and emotionally dying, the inside referring to his heart]
Her eyes take me away [Simple: her eyes take him away to another place, make him feel as if he is in heaven]
Tear me apart from the inside out [The beauty of this woman tears him apart from the inside out, with the inside being the heart]
Dead eyes speak in volumes but our lips refuse to move [Not entirely sure about this bit, maybe it means that now that he is dead, his love is being conveyed clearer than ever, even though he cannot physically say it, as he is dead]
Could this ever be the last time, the final time that we see this through? [Possibly referring to a funeral, the last time they will be together]

This is a difficult song to interpret, so I could be well off the mark. However, this is what I believe.

Its a great song, I recon the 2nd best on the album "Horizons" to the album title'd song itself.

I liked this song better as "New Noise" by Refused.

Alexisonfire, you suck.

I love how these people contradict themselves blatantly by bothering to go to their SongMeaning, then posting that they dislike the band. If you dont like them, keep your opinion to yourself. Thanks.

I was lucky enough to receive a comment back from them on MySpace with regards to this song.

It is as somebody has already pointed out, about the North American Blizzard of 1977. The CD is titled Crisis, and the picture of the man with FrostBite is equalitive to this point.

Also relevent are the lyrics: "There's nothing that you can do.
This weather's stronger than us all.
The sky is going to crush you."

This adds emphasis to the entire notion of the North American Blizzard. "Your car could be your coffin" - this could be a reference to the numerous amount of people discovered frozen to death inside their cars during the blizzard (Not sure of the exact number).

And as if any more proof is needed "This season's holding us all hostage,
Better do whatever it demands.
Carter knows that we've got a crisis
Weighing on our frost bitten hands."

The "Frost bitten hands" are a reference once again to the blizzard. The song is swarming with references, and along with the comment I received from the band itself, my mind is certain as to what this song is about.

"Its about taking it easy and alot of people taking themselves way too seriously out there. Its about having a good time, having fun. We're talking kicking back, we're talking lemonade, we're talking checkers in the sun, you know how that is."

That was released on the end of one of the eps they released of the song. It is their own definition of the song, kind of hard to argue with. Proof lies in the lyrics, and the song, tentatively titled "Get Fighted"

Bullet for My Valentine – End of Days Lyrics 16 years ago
I tend to agree with the previous statement - it is my favourite song off the new CD also. Great mix of screaming and singing, and I just had to put the lyrics to it up.

I love the NEVER BEFORE, NEVER AGAIN bit especially!

Your interpretation of the song sounds pretty accurate to me Anterior. This belief of ours is justified by the start of the song: "We’re wasting precious time, the clock is ticking can you hear the countdown?" Also, the words "NO SORROW, NO TOMORROW" emphasise that this appears to be the last day of life.

Sounds to me like the reckoning that life is finite, and that it doesn't matter what happens, and to make the most of the time you have left, as it is running out quickly. "No more I care to live when I’m just born to die."

And the chorus "Never before, never again. Behold this travesty. Never before, never again. Behold adversary," Translates to 'Never before, never again, behold this ||MOCKERY/ FARCE/ CHARADE / PARODY / TAKE OFF, etc|| Never before, never again behold ||YOUR CHALLENGER/ YOUR OPPONENT/ YOUR RIVAL, etc.|| These are words used instead of Travesty and Adversary, for those who arent sure.

I also believe that the meaning of these well chosen words is to "Never before, never again" underestimate or make a mockery or a fool of your closest and oldest rival, death.

Thanks Anterior for the general meaning of the song, that of what you would do if you had just ONE DAY left to live. Sounds good to me, and I hope the nonsense I just blabbed on about helps everyone to expand the basic meaning of this great song by BFMV.

Thanks!

Atreyu – Can't Happen Here Lyrics 16 years ago
Johnny, no point posting the lyrics, theyre done and dusted now, so why not consider a meaning?

And Amigos ... That is the most self obsessed load of shit I have ever read. Pull your head out of your racist arse and get some sense. None of what you said is anywhere near correct, other than about the song being about War.

Atreyu arent racists, and what you have written could be an imprisonable offence in some countries.

For starters, the gods ARENT nearly the same, and all you have said is a blatantly bullshitted opinion, poisoning the minds of those who read its limited intellectual capacity and lack of any common sense.

Hate to throw the ball back to you here buddy, but it was YOU who started this war... The Americans are nowhere near as guilt free as arrogant teenage trash like you seem to think.

Get your facts straight before trying to start a race war over a song, you racist, intellectually retarded idiot...

----------

Now that thats off my chest, I DO believe the song is about War, and I don't necessarily believe it is about the war in Iraq. And if it is, consider this:

"Taking away the pain of
Thinking for ourselves
Tearing at break down
They break down our doors
Indeed begs the question
Could this save your realm
Stealing away our children
Taking away our dreams!"

Does this sound like it is written from an American viewpoint? If anything, it sounds like a role reversal, and that this could be about the Iraqi's being invaded unnecessarily.

To the Yanks, no matter what the propaganda bullshit your idiot President is spoon feeding you, comments like that above (I suspect the writer is an unloved Teenage wannabe gangster) do NOTHING for other countries respect, your Nations biggest problem.

And you might wonder if I myself am Iraqi or Middle Eastern ... No, I'm Australian. Your 2nd closest Allies think the same. Its pathetic.

Behind Crimson Eyes – The Black Veil Lyrics 16 years ago

The vampire theme is too obvious. It must have another meaning to the band.

---------

Hey guys, I disagree with the above comment here. He has a point, it is very obvious, but not TOO obvious.

The title, The Black Veil, suggests vampiric activity. Obviously the chorus "Thirsting for blood I, pierce your neck with my teeth as you begin to drive the stake through my chest, and watch as I fade away," links to nothing else other than Vampirism.

Yet my meaning of the song isn't purely about Vampirism. While that is the literal meaning of the song, metaphorically I believe it is expressing disgust at becoming something you never wanted to be.

"I am so helpless to the call" signifies that it is beyong their control, this change that has occured, and is now a matter of survival.

So in all, it is externally about Vampiristic activities, yet I believe that it is more based on the changes, and the negative affects they have, and by symbolising this, they are showing self individuality, as opposed to the conformity of many other bands and meanings.

Escape the Fate – My Apocalypse Lyrics 16 years ago
"Theres a place that ive found as far as i can see
this place lies within the depths of my dreams " - The use of the word "dreams" straight up creates a fantasy element to the lyrics.

The man with the axe must be very close to him, as "I can barely see" through the smoke. This man is probably a reference to an executioner, and then even death itself. If the man with the axe is indeed a reference to death, and he is very close, because otherwise the singer would be unable to see him through the smoke, then this is a possible reference to death.

This 'man' tells him to "never fall asleep" which is an impossibility, but threatens that if he does he "wont wake up" enhancing the death element.

So now we have established that there is certainly an element of death in the song, it comes to analyse the rest of the song.

The "Gallows" keep him "safe and sound" - gallows are where people are hung by the neck to die. If this is viewed as a safety mechanism, then the situation is metaphorically dire.

"I walk with shadows" - anyone who has seen Lord of the Rings should know what this means. The Shadows are known in fantasy stories / songs, etc. as a place for the departed soul to go. It is associated with demons and other fantastical beasts.

To "destroy the guillotine || before he does" is to limit the ways of death, and to end the suffering before someone else ends it for you.

This is a difficult song to fully understand I think. In my own opinion, which is very subject to criticism, I believe it is about, as the title suggests, end of life coming nearer; whether that is through betrayal, murder, suicide, or any other means, both physical and mental, is open to subjectivity.

However, the name "My Apocalypse" is an interesting one. "Apocalypose" means the end of the world; however, the use of the word "My" negates the proper definition of the word, and adds a personal element. It is not the planet that is coming to an end, more so the life of the singer, through the man with an axe, the guillotine, the gallows, the shadows, the earthquake, the pain, or even the burning house, and quite possibly by means of betrayal, although I dont believe this is entirely clear.

Escape the Fate – Not Good Enough for Truth In Cliché Lyrics 16 years ago
"Sitting in this room playing Russian Roulette|| Finger on the trigger to my dear Juliet" - I agree with Brave's earlier comment, on the first page.

I believe it is a reference to Juliet in Shakepeare's famous play, and by having a finger on the trigger, he is attempting to either (a) bore out the image of Juliet through suicide, or (b) Attempting to join her in death.

If it is not a reference to Romeo and Juliet (as this notion is directly contradicted by several other statements throughout the song) then by saying "Theres blood on my hands and its something I cannot forget" would imply that he has perhaps hurt Juliet, or even killed her, and he can not forget what he did in this rage. The "finger on the trigger" is, once again, a possible attempt to either join "Dear Juliet" or a build up of guilt resulting in suicide.

It is also probable that Juliet has cheated on him. This is represented through "The blood in your veins is 20 below" - symbolising her with a cold blooded creature, representing disconcern for others.

"Just in time to kill you || I can't take this anymore || I cannnot feel what you've done to me." This leads back to the killing her notion, and as he "can't take this anymore" he plays "Russian Roulette" (for anyone who doesnt know what Russian Roulette is, it is where a group of people sit around a table, with a revolver loaded with one bullet. Each take turns of pointing the revolver at his own head, until the bullet is surfaced, resulting in death.)

So in all, I believe it is about 'Juliet' cheating on him, he goes into a rage ("take this down a notch") and hurts her "Theres blood on my hands and it's something I cannot forget." This blood on his hands leads to playing "Russian Roulette" in an attempt to either end his life, or live life alot more riskily.

NB: I also believe that the "backdrop silhouette" could be the ghost of Juliet. Unsure though.

Thanks!

Parkway Drive – Romance Is Dead Lyrics 16 years ago
Guys you don't have be emo to cut yourself...

One of the BEST PARKWAY SONGS!!!!

Agreed, I recon its the best PWD song. But I don't agree with your first comment.

Pwd are my fave band, they went to my school while I was there, and hail from my home town of Byron Bay. I know Tom's brother,

Don't take this whole cutting yourself thing too literally. I can tell you know, while this is a basis of their singing, in reality, they don't cut themselves, not inflict any direct physical pain on themselves with intent.

Like Samhinton says, its about trends, they aren't diretly encouraging this, moreso stating the effects and emphasising the trend, trying to quell it.

I think it's a great song, I think they're a great band. And while I love the song, and the lyrics, there is no way that it is ever going to encourage me to sink to the so called "emo" stage. Liking the music is different to acting with intent of physical damage.

"The incisions on your wrist, were all for show, just like you." This opening statement of the song is a direct write off of the whole emo trend. It is implying that even though you cut yourself, you do it "all for show," and that it is not a trendy or fashionable thing to do.

"So serenade her with your last pathetic suicide love song." The use of the word 'pathetic' symbolises the anti-stereotype and the disgust at the "suicide love song" portraying how lame (for lack of a better word) this whole trend is.

So while at first glance, Romance Is Dead might portray an "emo" outlook, as stated by the band themselves, as well as an analysis of the lyrics, it is revealed that this song actually acts as a parody of the stereotypical 'emo' nature.

So while at first glance, "Romance is Dead" may appear to portray the stereotypical emo outlook associated with Parkway Drive music, in actual sense it is parodising and making fun of the emo trend.

Thanks!

Parkway Drive – Flesh, Bone and Weakness Lyrics 16 years ago
PWD are born and bred Byron Boys, 2 years above me at my school which I have just finished.

Only recently have I realised how great they are, not while I was at school with them.

While PWD are associated with suicide, and so called 'emo' lyrics, I don't believe this song's primary focus is this stereotype.

"All I ever wanted was you... WHYYYYYY!?!? WHY DO I PERSIST" - Possibly talking about loving someone that you can't have. The singer knows that they can't have this person, but it is all they ever wanted. A mental struggle pursues, in which the singer isn't sure why he keeps persisting this person, which is 'beyond limits.'

"Love cant catch me, not today
Take your hand and just surrender?
Its just not worth it"

This is talking about this love, surrendering to the emotions. "It's just so hard to resist"

By stating "I'll endure another day" the singer is NOT implying that they are willing to take their own life over this love, but more so that they are willing to keep "persist"ing with it until the day comes that it succeeds.

The conclusion "Self loathing strangles me. But I'll endure another day" implies that they are willing to go through pain and suffering, to endure it all, just to get all they ever wanted.

Repetition of "why do I persist" reinforces and emphasises the difficult decision, in wondering why he is continuing on in such a seemingly hopeless case.

A great PWD song, can't wait to see them when they come back to my home town - their home town.

Parkway Drive – Horizons Lyrics 16 years ago
See Sam's description for a full blow by blow approach - great work Sam.

I will try and give a brief summary of the song, although those that know me know that this generally isn't my style.

I believe that the "Horizons" is metaphorical to the end of the life - just as the horizon is the furthest point you can see, so is the contextual metaphor of a horizon as symbolic to the end of one's life represented.

"Sit back and watch as time eats us alive," - this associates time with the horizon, and metaphorically emphasises the link between the horizon and life, the primary theme throughout the song.

On listening to the song many times, I think there are one or two mistakes in the lyrics. I could be wrong, I've never looked them up, but to me, I think it would make more sense if instead of: "Sarcastic perpetuation," it was "Sadistic perpetuation" - the word sadistic meaning cruel, thus fitting into the context of the song more appropriately.'

Also, it sounds more to me like "With broken arms, and hollow eyes" than "hollow wings". I could be wrong, but once again, this seems to make more sense to me.

Hope my basic summary helps, a great song from Parkway Drive. I went to school with pwd, and when they used to play, I could never stand them. If only I liked them then as I do now, my fave band :D

Atreyu – Lose It Lyrics 16 years ago
I love this song ay!! I just realised I had it labelled as No One Cares on iTunes. Looked up that song and thought "those lyrics dont look familiar.."

Does the beginning of this song start with "Kids it's not big, it's not clever, and we don't approve of it. However, some bands choose to swear. If this offends you, turn off your radio now," for anybody else? I love it lol.

Anyways, this song is probably either my favourite or 2nd favourite from the new album. Its awesome. The lyrics might be slightly wrong in a few places, but its all good.

To "Lose It" means to lose the plot, and "Standing on the edge" confirms my belief that this is about suicide.

There is a "battle in my head," - characteristic of a person suffering depression and considering whether or not to take the fall.

"I'll lose my hold / I will let go" - definitely talking about whether or not to jump.

Good song!

Atreyu – Lead Sails (And a Paper Anchor) Lyrics 16 years ago
Its in no way anything like Good Charlotte...

My initial interpretation is that it is about war, and its effects.

"Marching alone / Like a good soldier does" - (and I believe these to be the correct lyrics) indicates the loneliness associated with being a soldier in the war.

The very (impossible) concept of a boat with Sails made of Lead and an anchor which is made of Paper indicates role reversal (not that Sails are made from Paper...) and a general impossiblity - the knowledge that victory is elusive, and in no way can anybody win.

"Sinking my heart turns to stone" - This is representative of what War can do to you, physically and psychologically.

In no way is this a take off of any specific band, but as Alex Varkatzas says on their MySpace page, it is an experimental era of the band, and that by producing songs such as this, they are attempting to diversify and prove that they can be more than just screamers.

I like it - I wouldnt pick it as Atreyu if I didnt know, but I would like it if it came from another band, which is no reason to not like it because it is orchestrated by Atreyu.

I thought the start was "Chariots clash in the dead of night?"

There are a lot of mistakes, deeming this virtually totally incorrect... But oh well. I love the song. Yet for once I am a little stumped as to the meanings of an Atreyu song.

I tend to agree with Diablo ^ about the meaning of religion destroying the world. "Does your God / Know my God? / This is how the world will end!"

The clashing of chariots in the dead of night is symbolic to neverending war; that which will destroy us eventually. As is Demons beating down the doors, and stealing our children, the base of our existence.

Thats my initial interpretation anyways, feel free to correct me!

Thrice – The Artist in the Ambulance Lyrics 16 years ago
Im wondering if this song has got some strong contextual meaning to it.

It is obviously a referral to the ParaMedics in the Ambulance saving the life of someone. "Now I lay here owing my life to a stranger..."

I believe that the use of the "angel" is a symbolic reference to the Paramedics, of which this song is attributed. I believe it is a tribute to Paramedics, who have saved his, or perhaps someone close to him's life.

By saying "more than flashing lights and sounds," he is indicating that an ambulance is more than just a series of noises and cool lights for little kids to be interested in.

He is firmly reinstating that they are life savers, and if not for them, then he would not be here, and certainly this great song would not have been written.

Silverstein – The Ides of March Lyrics 16 years ago
Man SwatSniper really knows what he is talking about.

And just incase nobody is really sure WHAT that is, I will try and clarify it slightly.

The very title, the Ides of March, was the festival at which Brutus and several followers murdered Julius Caesar, the Roman 'Consul' and arguably the first Roman Emperor.

It was an act of betrayal, as Julius Caesar and Brutus were the closest of friends. Julius Caesar crossed the Rubicon River after an expedition to Gaul (modern day France), thus declaring war on the Roman Republic, creating a separate entity.

As a result of his actions, his murder was plotted, and he was betrayed, stabbed 23 times in the face and torso, at the Festival known as the Ides of March.

That is why I believe this song is obviously about betrayal, but for the reasons of an entirely separate entity.

I would say it is about his (ex?) girlfriend / wife, who he betrayed through stupid actions, resulting in a separation. He now possibly stalks her, trying to feel as if he is still a part of her life, hence the quote "Your windows my door and nothing can stop me" and "Dont close your blinds on me"

All together this is a fabulous song.

Thanks.

I'd say its about conformity. That is, being a conformist (unindividuality)l; just being like everyone else.

"I think we're closer now" - this represents the conformity represented, with the word "closer" symbolic for the closeness of the pack.

This is a personal opinion, I could be shooting a long way from the mark.

Awesome start, awesome pre-chorus, awesome chorus. Great song. Along with Song of the Damned, my favourite Slipknot song.

In my opinion, the point of view being portrayed is that by saying "I am a world before I am a man" is that to not see yourself as the sole purpose of existence. We are all individuals in a group.

"My end, it justifies my means," referring to "THE END OF THE ROAD!" which is either the end of an individuals life, but in my opinion in comparing this with "I am a world before I am a man" I have adopted the point of view that the end of the road is the END OF THE WORLD.

"The end of the road is my end." This is saying that the only way life will retreat its firm grasp on him is through the end of the world.

That he will not forget that he "was a creature before I could stand" - that this world gave him life and that he would stick with it until the end.

Also, in further metaphorical context, I am certain that it portrays a clear message to the critics and media about Slipknot. It was said that Slipknot dont care about anyone but themselves, and that they view themselves as the sole purpose of the world.

So this song is both true in context and text. Its a clear FUCK YOU to the critics, saying that they will not only remember their fans (which is the result of a metaphor for the earth) but also remember where they came from, who they are, and NEVER FORGET that they ARENT the sole purpose of the world.

That they were a "creature before I could stand;" That they will "remember before I forget." Remember where they came from, remember their fans.

Thanks, let me know what you think here :)

AFI – Miss Murder Lyrics 17 years ago
I dont think its related to Christianity...

Thinking metaphorically we can see Christian refrences in anything. For example, "I am going to pour a glass of water..." - water here can be seen as a creation of god, and his 40 day flood.

I am not a christian.

I think this song is about relationship troubles. I'm not entirely sure whats with the inconsistency of the gender...

"The stars that mistified; He left them all behind." I think the stars here are possibly a metaphor for beauty, and an extended metaphor for his "Miss Murder."

He states "Hey Miss Murder can I; Make beauty stay if I; Take my life." This here is a part of the song which MAY be viewed in a religious light, that is the sacrifice which is made in order to save someone else. His hero has sacrificed himself in order to directly benefit others.

This was my favourite song over a year ago now. I am very sick of it, but it remains catchy after 400+ plays.

Shattersphere – Inside My Head Lyrics 17 years ago
Hmm. The title suggests something about hearing voices "Inside My Head" imploring the possibility of insanity.

"Can't explain these violent feelings deep inside my brain." This further backs up my first suggestion, of insanity.

But I think the song is about the hardships he has faced... "Come into my territory and you can be my slave. Try to go through what I do and you wouldn't last a day..." This is suggesting that the responder 'walks a mile in the composers shoes' and attempts to see how they would cope.

I dont mind the song. I see its been a year tomorrow since this was posted and no comment, so obviously others dont share my enjoyment lol.

Anyways, let me know what you think, if anyone else posts lol.

Staind – Fade Lyrics 17 years ago
Its an awesome song!

"I just needed someone to talk to
You were just too busy with yourself." This I figure is about his parents never being there for him. It COULD be about a relationship too, but confiding in your parents is something a child needs to be able to do, and if parents are too busy, say working, then you are likely to build up anger.

"So where were you
When all this I was going through, you never took the time to ask me just what you could do." I think thats very deep, and possibly true in context. THis leads me to think it is more about parential relationship, than a love relationship. Compliments U2's Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own.

Great song Staind!

Goodnight Nurse's version shits on this...

However, you can't teach an old dog new tricks ...

KoЯn – Freak on a Leash Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is great. Duke from the first page is kind of fucked up ... He comes to look at a KoRn song then rips it off.

I think this is about the media, and their scrutinistic ways. "Feeling like a freak on a leash" - someone who is put on display for all to see and openly judge. That is what the media do. Hang people out to dry. KoRn are acknowledging this.

"You'll never see me fall from grace" - They are determine to never let the media get the better of them.

Very deep song. Very catchy. Great work. My fave KoRn song and thats a big call.

Skillet – Rebirthing Lyrics 17 years ago
Its a christian rock genre... Meaning that being "rebirthed" again is being born again, under the name of lord. I am not religious lol, so I hardly know anything about that kind of stuff.

"Breathe for the first time now; I came alive somehow." This is probably referring to being born again, and though this is impossible, they could be meaning starting a new life; starting afresh. Hence the title rebirthing - starting over again.

Cold – Just Got Wicked Lyrics 17 years ago
"I can't explain this little man, taking over." This "little man" is possibly a metaphor for a very strong emotion, i.e. love or hate. Love seems the obvious answer, due to the last line of the song ... "You are the love I never found."

Jester is right thre are a few incorrect lyrics there. It isnt set out very well either ... the chorus blends in with the pre chorus.

Yeah betrayal sprung to mind when I read the lyrics. "Everyone got behind my back and broke it."

Cold – Suffocate Lyrics 17 years ago
There are some slightly wrong lyrics posted here ... After the lead singer says "That your fake" The backup singer it is quoted here as saying "Im not a freak" ... It should say "I'm not a fake". Its kind of important in the context of the song.

I agree with Monticello. She does sound like Placebo's singer haha!!

Fairly self explanatory ... He is breaking up with her because she is too fake, and a liar. She denies it of course.

"This cloud will always hover over me; I'm leaving you today, because now I see..." Implementing that the cloud of lies and deceit weaved by his girlfriend will always hover over him, so long as he is with her. Thats why he attempts to cure the situation, stating "I'm leaving you today."

This is my favourite song in the world at the moment! IT is excellent. Its catchy, but you can listen to it hundreds of times and never get sick of it. SUch a pity Cold broke up :(

Soilwork – Soilworker's Song of the Damned (feat. Devin Townsend) Lyrics 17 years ago
I agree with Undignifiedromance. It is a realistc, "no-bullshit" point of view on life.

"Cause we're only listening with one ear now" - A metaphor for life. Listening with one ear symbolises living "half heartedly" or on the edge.

"Live for the moment, get killed for the thrill." This is saying how people must live life for what it is and not do anything stupid.

And going right back to the start of these comments, I agree with theotherness; this is a tribute to the fans of Soilwork and it is letting those fans know how Soilwork will always be there, with its music, to remind people how important life is.
