My girlfriend and I keep discussing this song. Because I love it and she doesn't. She thinks its about him cheating (she only listened to the chorus) and him trying to convince her that all he saw was her when he cheated.
I, however, think its about never letting go of that first love. When they were younger they didn't know it was real love but as they grew up and compared it to other, they realised it was. How all he saw was her in every girl he got with.
But now they have a second chance with each other knowing what they now know about love, knowing they were in fact in love. Maybe to begin with he didn't trust her or was just insecure about the feelings he had when they were 'in their teens'.
'We Try To Run Away, But End Up Coming Back' <<< My favourite line in the song. Maybe they have always felt drawn back to each other despite being opposites in personality? Never being able to let each other go, seeing this girl in everyone he sees or tries to love.
Just a few ideas but i truly love this song so much. |

hmmm... could be about a death? could be his gf who died? n she may have possibly said 'i hope heavens like santa monica' before she died? i rote a song about my cousin who died from luekimia and got sum stuff bout meeting him on the moon. so i guess its possible. but i do admit it seems to be more of a breakup where the girl was searching for something a little better. |

personally i am not in any way a christian. i never have been, and chances are i never will be, but my girlfriend and her family are extremely christian so i cn relate to everything. but to be honest i hate songs that can only relate to christianity (with the exception of all of the words by kutless coz its amazin) but this song can relate both in the eyes and in the relationship. and all in all, its an amazingly beautiful song |

Righty then. i love this song. tbh i think its bout some kid who paid a prostitute and wanted it to hurt, but ended up killing her. then a month on he was still living with the regret 'chokes that bottle down' hes tryin to forget wat he did. then that night hes sayin he cld end it, but its wat his father did but if he did his daughter would be walkin down that road alone which also gives me the impression that the prostitute had no father. but thats not important. hes claiming hes not his fathers son because maybe his father killed his mother and is refusing himself to be following in his footsteps. or his father was an honest man and hes sayin hes nothing like him, tho he wish he cld be. correct me if i wrong. but damn, wat a waste of whiskey |
