| Okay, this might be completely wrong but I've always wondered why on earth this song is called "Doughnut" and I was really excited 'cos I had an idea last night. I think it's called "Doughnut" because when you eat a doughnut you really like it and you want another one and another one but you know it will make you feel sick evenutally and this is what is going on in this relationship or it's past that point so that when they first got together she loved it and kept taking but now things have turned bad she feels sick. If you get what I mean, lol, phew! :] | |

My interpretation: They're singing about a guy that's after them but they don't think that they would be a good match. They use a clever play on words, letters, er numbers as they say XTC which is a nickname for ecstacy so what they're saying is that he's studious and knows all about his literature (ABC) and math (123) but not about how to have a good time (XTC/drugs). Not that I'm promoting drugs, lol!! Then again I'm not sure whether they're thinking he might be a good influence on them..? Basically, I think they are pondering over the guy in the song. |
