DJ Shadow – Midnight In A Perfect World Lyrics | 14 years ago |
What the heck's up with these lyrics, that's not right at all. o_O The main singer is "I don't believe you came into the garden of my heart planted seeds of love..." It's a lot clearer if you check out the original sample. |
The Mars Volta – Televators Lyrics | 14 years ago |
It might be wrong in the context of the theme but "cushioned his face" cracks me up every time. |
Ephrat – Real (Attempts 1-3) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Sleep tight, the child who cheated destiny... |
Porcupine Tree – The Sky Moves Sideways (Phase One) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Incidentally, I figured out what the really faint voice near the beginning is saying. In three sequential parts, it's "I don't understand, my lord." (I'm not sure about the "my lord" bit, but it's definitely "I don't understand".) "In the way of circumstances and background I had everything an artist could possibly want." "It was practically a blueprint." The latter two are part of a quote from English writer, playwright and humorist Alan Bennett. The full quote is as follows. - "I was an only child. I lost both my parents. By the time I was twenty I was bald. I'm homosexual. In the way of circumstances and background to transcend I had everything an artist could possibly want. It was practically a blueprint. I was programmed to be a novelist or a playwright. But I'm not." I'd say that's reflective on Steven Wilson's views of art, probably. |
Aphex Twin – Aussois Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Proper words - What do you do to this?/Would you drink to this? - You dance on one toe. - I [tie it to my heels?] and jump. - No. - Yes. |
Dream Theater – Repentance Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I heard that part of the reason why it's a slow song is because when they play them consecutively live, they will need a bit of a rest in the middle. |
The Mars Volta – Cygnus...Vismund Cygnus Lyrics | 16 years ago |
goxdie: I believe it was stated earlier. Cygnus has hundreds of little questions unanswered. |
Porcupine Tree – The Nostalgia Factory Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This really confuses me frankly. My version off On The Sunday of Life has none of the middle lyrics at all. Can anyone explain this? |
Porcupine Tree – Glass Arm Shattering Lyrics | 16 years ago |
At the start, it sounds like a record playing, and this has lead me to believe that it's the guy playing their song on his record player. He's finally letting go of her, but he's remembering the love they had one last time, and so he puts on their song. If it was a movie, the camera would move out so you could see the sunset. |
Chroma Key – Even the Waves Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This feels like it's about mental illness, about being isolated and ostracised from the outside world by that. There are also biblical references, with the 40 days of rain, and Judas. |
Porcupine Tree – Mellotron Scratch Lyrics | 16 years ago |
In my head, this song is divided into "Mellotron Scratch" and "Mellotron Scratch (Reprise), making it the only song I know that is its own reprise. And I like it very much. The keyboard is particularly beautiful. |
Nick Drake – Know Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The lyrics seemed a bit strange to me in their grammar, but I've worked out two possible ways that they make more sense. 1. They're from two different perspectives. Lines 1 and 3 are from the person in love, and 2 and 4 are from the object of their love. 2. Some of the "knows" are actually "no's". If it's this one, then that's some inspired songwriting. But a great song regardless. |
David Bowie – (Don't Sit Down) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
If it means anything, it's about keeping going, not sitting down. |
Porcupine Tree – The Sky Moves Sideways (Phase One) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I frankly think it's about air travel. We lost the skyline: No skyline in the air. We stepped right off the map: The map is the ground. You're off it. Drifted into blank space: Obvious. And let the clocks relapse: Time zones. In travelling far, the clocks relapse. We laughed the rain down: Flying above the rain. Slow burn on the lawn: Airplane landing or take off. Ghosts across the lawn: Don't know about this. Swallowed up the storm: Nither this. But storms and air travel sorta go together. |
Porcupine Tree – Russia On Ice Lyrics | 17 years ago |
There needs to be a cocktail called Russia on Ice. You know it would work. |
Porcupine Tree – And the Swallows Dance Above the Sun Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I am currently really obsessed with this song. I don't know why. Perhaps it's just that it has a really good beat. It seems to me like it's about the chaos of life, it's not slwing down, it just is rushing past. |
Pink Floyd – Echoes Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Overhead the albatross hangs motionless upon the air... I really love the lyrics to this song. The middle part is good, yes, but it (and most other songs) just pale before the singing. It's so hauntingly beautiful. |
