Michelle Branch – Til I Get Over You Lyrics 16 years ago
I LOVE this song. It's so sad she went to country music!
Anyway, I feel the meaning has basically already been said.

Vanessa Carlton – Half a Week Before the Winter Lyrics 16 years ago
I personally never thought that one song could create so many different interpretations. I guess that's what makes a good writer, right?

I have to agree with all the 'theories'. They all make sense, and while this isn't personally most favorite song on the album, it's still pretty good.

Vienna Teng – Recessional Lyrics 16 years ago
I thought of it as two people who used to be in love, and after breaking up a while ago, the meet, and the speaker is wondering if they will reconnect. In the end of the song, she kind of pulls the rug out from under him, by going "Yeah, I guess I'll see you later or whatever", which shows she may not be interested in getting back into a relationship.

I love this song, though. It's written very nicely.

Dido – Stronger Lyrics 16 years ago
I've seen this on other sites before, but it just doesn't look like it's hers. Is it from the songs she did with her brother's band?

I can agree with Onora and redasblue. I think it was someone who was close to this girl, telling her to be strong because in the future, she'll be better than the people that made fun of her when they were children. Her peers will want to be her friend (they'll wave to you), and because she endured ridicule as a young girl, she won't make fun of others. Hopefully. That's just how I think of it.

Dido – Give Me Strength Lyrics 17 years ago
Being the first one to comment on this song, I'm assuming that not many people have managed to find Odds and Ends. This is one of the better songs in my opinion.

This song always made me think of person who isn't proud of their past, and is asking for the strength to move on in their life.

Evanescence – The Last Song I'm Wasting on You Lyrics 17 years ago
Here's what I heard about the song:

"Sparkling gray, then my own veins"- I heard once that when people are choking to death, colors fade, and everything around them seems to be sparkling, and when they shut their eyes, they can see the veins in their eyelids.

"Anymore than a whisper, any sudden movement of my heart"- She has to be incredibly careful what she says and does so she doesn't make him mad. (Abusers are very aggressive, and they insist on controlling every single aspect of the victim's life through fear).

"And I know, I know I'll have to watch them pass away"- I think this means she is afraid that one day he'll get so mad at her, he'll kill her.

"Just get through this day"- She tells herself constantly to endure the challenges of her life, possibly because she is hoping to find her way out of this relationship alive.

"Give up your way, you could be anything"- She's telling him that he could be anything he wanted if he wasn't so aggressive.

"Give up my way, and lose myself"- I have always thought that she was talking about giving up always being a victim.

"Not today, there's too much guilt to pay"- She is putting off becoming a stronger person because she feels guilt over ever becoming a victim in the first place.

"Sickened in the sun, you dare tell me you love me"- He is in trouble now, probably because she wants to leave, and he's telling her how he loves her and he's sorry so she'll stay.

"But you held me down and screamed you wanted me to die"- However, he treats her horribly, and she knows he won't change.

"Honey you know, you know I'd never hurt you that way"- She's telling him that she would never push him down and them help him up so she could knock him down again.

"You're just so pretty in your pain"- She's saying that she would only hurt him so that she could see him hurt.

"Give up my way, and I could be anything"- She's saying she could be whatever she wanted if she gained control of her own life- staring with this relationship she's in.

"I'll make my own way, without your senseless hate"- She decides to leave him, and find a new path.

"So run, run, run, and hate me if it feels good, I can't hear your screams anymore"- She's saying he can deny he ever hurt her, and try to get her back, but it's useless. He can hate her if he wants, but she won't care, because she won't be around to hear him screaming at her.

"You lied to me, but I'm older now, and I'm not buying, baby"- He promised her everything, and she believed him, but now that she knows him, she doesn't believe a thing he says.

"Demanding my response, don't bother breaking the door down"- She doesn't have to say another word to him, and he shouldn't bother finding her and demanding a reason why she left.

"I've found my way out, and you'll never hurt me again"- She's moved on, and she'll never go back to him again.

Well, that's my understanding, and I suppose it's a more optimistic one, but the suicide theory works too.

I thought this was Song MEANINGS, not an open forum on who's better. Both side,s no offense, but you need to grow up a little. Seriously, is this what you would say to people on the street?

I agree. It sounds like the perfect little girl, but inside she has problems with herself, which to me sound like body issues or something like that, and it upsets her so much, that she jumps off a building.

Dido – Don't Leave Home Lyrics 17 years ago
I read that this song is about the difficulties of drug addiction, and that the song was written from the perspective of the drug actually talking to that person. The drug is basically coming in and is completely taking over this person's life.
This song is one of my favs.

Vanessa Carlton – Annie Lyrics 17 years ago
I always thought that the song had more of a spiritual meaning. lI thought that Vanessa was referring to the girl inside her dying, like she's growing up, and even though she may want to stay a kid forever, she can't. But, if it was really about a girl with cancer, that works, too...
