Caveman – In the City Lyrics | 9 years ago |
Should check out the video to this. Creeeepysauce |
Cherry Glazerr – Teenage Girl Lyrics | 10 years ago |
I love this band! Bloody Bandaid and Haxel Princess are great songs. |
Modest Mouse – Dramamine Lyrics | 10 years ago |
I understand, long lost soul mate ;) I was "learning a life lesson" from a crappy long distance "relationship" at the time too! It's introspective to listen to the songs now and feel the emotions again [from a different perspective.] Wouldn't change the past, but also would never want to relive it again. Ha. |
The Aislers Set – Mary's Song Lyrics | 10 years ago |
"with a smile wider than my arms could stretch in E minor" Ah, Amy Linton, don't go. |
The Aislers Set – Army Street Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Such a pretty song. |
Modest Mouse – Dramamine Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Ha, it's weird to see all these literal interpretations of a Dramamine trip to me. I had this album when I was 19 [which is a *perfect* age to have this album IMHO] and the thought never once crossed my mind. I just thought it was about a long distance, messed up relationship. "We kiss on the mouth but still cough down our sleeves" Sure, we swap spit but are still uncomfortable around each other. "Look at your face like you're killed in a dream" Listen, I haven't tripped on Dramamine but I know this feeling of looking at someone and there's a strange disconnect. We've all had dreams about someone, and know they're not real but sometimes that feeling you had in the dream remains. It's not a stretch for me to apply that to looking at someone in a different, surreal light. "I've said what I said and you know what I mean But I can't still focus on anything " The relationship may be unhealthy, but does that always stop someone from thinking about it constantly? I'm not saying there isn't some sort of drug reference, but I just can't see it as anything but a relationship. Have a good day, folks! |
Blonde Redhead – Equus Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Down vote :( And the comment below got off scott free. Oh wicked world! |
Neutral Milk Hotel – Oh Comely Lyrics | 10 years ago |
You forgot "reincarnation" too ;) |
Grizzly Bear – Speak in Rounds Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Thank you |
Grandaddy – Levitz (Birdless) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Oh, and that album is about a man who prefers to live in fantasy over reality so your "deluded reality" statement is spot-on! Ah, ELO... Grandaddy can quote you perfectly ::sighs:: |
Grandaddy – Levitz (Birdless) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
The last 4 lines are from an Electric Light Orchestra song off of the album Eldorado- which is a great album and definitely an influence of bands like Grandaddy! :) |
Cadallaca – The Trouble With Public Places Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Best song off the EP :) |
Cadallaca – Out West Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Where you have: "He only cries bloody grief"... "The blue was ? the sky was grey"... "Hid myself beneath the seat".... "God came upon me that day"... I always heard, "He only pays with bloody grief" and "The room was dark, the sky was grey", "Hid myself beneath the suit, for a man can steal a woman's due" and "God gave up on me that day" :) Otherwise, a pretty straight [ha!] forward, fun song. |
M83 – Graveyard Girl Lyrics | 15 years ago |
which half? |
M83 – Graveyard Girl Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Too many repetitions of the word "pretentious" here. :/ I think "melodramatic" fits better... cause the song is about a 15 year old... and most 15 year olds are melodramatic [hey, they have to be- that's how you learn by the time you're 'grown-up' what's worth your emotional effort and what's not.] I can't help but picture Winona Ryder in Beetlejuice during the bridge... ha... reminds me of the scene where she writes her "suicide letter". But she was kinda cute, so why wouldn't the narrator of the song find someone like that kinda cute too? And WHOOOAaaa... that comment about the grandfather and cancer up there... wow. If you think this is a whiny song, please don't listen to most radio songs. And also don't forget it's just a song. |
Jeremy Enigk – Return of the Frog Queen Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I couldn't agree with SVTristan more. |
Thao Nguyen – Big Kid Table Lyrics | 16 years ago |
But I never gave you nothing Not even to hold* Or wear around your neck Or rest upon* your collarbone And it is not as though I do not know it* hurts me It’s just I drink only That which makes me thirsty We are all locomotive* [like said above :) ] still a great song and i only drink that which makes me thirsty too |
Black Kids – I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance with You Lyrics | 16 years ago |
love it. my friends said they sounded "hippy"... losers. :::rolls eyes::: he does refer to himself as a "girl" twice in four songs. i like it. |
Les Savy Fav – What Would Wolves Do? Lyrics | 16 years ago |
this is the first les savy song that i've genuinely loved. aside from having a little "werewolves of london" singing-howl in it, it's a great indie dancey song. |
Pinback – Subbing for Eden Lyrics | 16 years ago |
this is one of the best songs on the album. i particularly like the "And I swear I thought of you" line. |
Throwing Muses – Honeychain Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i like the "warped children's fairy tales" analogy above. this is actually one album where i like the two tanya songs better than the kristen ones. i always loved her songs, but before there would at least be as many kristen songs i loved as much [if not more, of course]. this is another one of tanya's haunting songs. the image of the old man who misses someone very much [lost love? dead relative?] is something she relates to ["we got it easy" she sings to someone, perhaps in comparison to the old man who has "stared"/longed for many, many years for someone who is obviously gone for good.] i interpret the honey comparison to everyone's life, sweet, messy and sticky. |
The Long Blondes – You Could Have Both Lyrics | 16 years ago |
the most pulp song on the album, no doubt. though it manages to be a little less... twisted... than pulp would have made it. |
Tattle Tale – Glass Vase Cello Case Lyrics | 16 years ago |
not a lot lyric-wise with this song... but hey, it doesn't need it |
Belly (US) – Dream On Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |
this is probably one of the most unappreciated belly songs. "keep your head where you said it would be" is desperate and heart felt. |
Gossip – On the Prowl Lyrics | 16 years ago |
first gossip song i ever heard. i still love it... that saucy beth ditto! by the way, there's a line missing between" You betta hang on tight" and "I'm gonna treat you right". I have never been able to make it out. |
Secret Machines – Marconi's Radio Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i thought the last lyric was : "marconi didn't make the radio for me to stay home and say so" also, to Fryie, there are two songs w/Marconi in the title [off the same album]- this one and the reprise, which is just a calypso steel-drum sounding instrumental. you need to get this one cause it's better. annnnnd... this song is awesome. |
Sleater-Kinney – What if I Was Right? Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this is a hard song to understand [as in, what corin is saying]. still very good- in fact, maybe my favorite b-side. |
Sleater-Kinney – Lora's Song Lyrics | 17 years ago |
haha- i'm surprised anyone attempted these lyrics. corin and carrie both admitted they don't have any idea what lora is saying. i'll try here: and the more i lie, i'm perfectly still more or less... who can tell? and i lay my hand on the back of your face break a wish iron cage who are you? you must be real or happen to clone time are you... you two so real? switching through the places you find still, still perfect and round wear, tear you have to go won't you be delayed [late?] wait lost in your bed and make a wish rip it to shreds oh, you... you must be real or happen to clone time are you... you two so real? switching through the faces you find. well, that's just my take at least after years of trying to figure out what the $#&% she was singing |
Sleater-Kinney – Dance Song '97 Lyrics | 17 years ago |
well, you know... it's kind of got that feel of walking into a bar/club/venue and spying that particular someone that really does it for you. it's the crush you finally decide to act upon because you can't stop thinking about it. |
Missy Elliott – Gossip Folks Lyrics | 17 years ago |
thanks for the help with the chorus... i'd have never gotten that. ha. here's a slight correction: Ludacris- I live loud like Timmy! [timmy from south park voice] Fuck, have to clear these rumors I got a headache and it's not A TUMOR [arnold voice] Get up on my lap and get my head sucked tight Sprayed so I never let the bed bugs bite Hard to the core Core to the ROTTEN Drop down turn around pick a bale of cotton |
Grandaddy – Taster Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"If he's laying down saying he's sorry Tell him, "It's okay, we learn this way" something about this line gets to me. it's like, you have to sacrifice so much [in the taster's case... die] to learn something sometimes. i've been laying there saying i'm sorry a time or two. one of my favorite early grandaddy songs. |
Cat Power – Metal Heart Lyrics | 17 years ago |
now THIS is a song to listen to when you're down! lovely, though. haunting. |
764-HERO – Loaded Painted Red Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this song needs some more praise. praise! |
Helium – XXX Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i'm so impressed someone submitted this! best song on pirate prude. the whole album has this vampire/monster/predator theme going on... very dark and seductive. also, i always thought the "collect me like rubies" line was "collect me like rupees"... ha... guess i was thinking zelda! |
Helium – Pat's Trick Lyrics | 17 years ago |
great song. there really needs to be more helium on the internet. oh, and good luck trying to find anything by autoclave. |
Blonde Redhead – Equus Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i always thought it alternated between: "allow me to show you the way which i, i know you" and "allow me to show you the way which i adore you"... still, one of my favorite B-R |
