Cursive – Shallow Means, Deep Ends Lyrics | 13 years ago |
In keeping with the marriage/divorce concept, I think this song is about getting into a relationship too early. "Swimming at night, we've dug this hole..." > Swimming at night is comparable to being blind, because you can't really see much, and now the couple has dug this hole of a relationship that has gone on for so long with so much fucked up shit (lament of pretty baby/gameofwhoneedswho/casualty) they don't know whether to stay together or break up, hence "Which way is up?" "So let me up!" > Tim wanting out of the relationship. This should basically give you an idea of what this song is about. 'We've finally hit bottom' is pretty self explanitory when you think of it this way. |

Do you miss her...right now? |
Fear Before – Jabberwocky Lyrics | 15 years ago |
lol. you're wrong. Go Watch "The Weather Man" and tell me Michael Caine says, "This ship life" and not "This shit life" when he's talking to Nicholas Cage about the science fiction novel he wrote. The "This Shit Life" quote is a soundbite from the Weather Man. |
The Lawrence Arms – Recovering The Opposable Thumb Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Dont even mention Against Me! in a lawrence arms thread, they're fucking rubbish compared to Lawrence regardless if the intro is arpeggio chords like that fucking piece of shit song Miami. The song is back-and-forth sarcasm about evolution. "This is not a celebration of slipping through some crack." As in, by evolutionary chance, humans evolved to what we are today. Contrastly, no matter how much we think that evolutionary chance was a good thing, humans are the "resulting trash" because that evolutionary chance ultimately is causing the planets destruction. Toby Keith's horses and Toby Keith's men finally put us all in our place because he's making his money blissfully unaware of the destruction of earthkind going on around us, yet has a massive fanbase while he writes bullshit songs about tractors. TLA however has a message and a meaning yet still drives in shitty fans and lives the punk-band life (which is described by the "this is the fucking slop line/chowline lyric. They're all living destitute while Toby Keith is on top of the world.) I personally think thats the best "FUCK YOU!" line i've ever heard in a song. The "its a wonderful hug when there is so much more to love...when theres steaks and hearts jammed in your face." line is necessarily about veganism, but more about the sloth/glutton phenomenon that is American lifestyle. American citizens are among the most overweight in the world, etc. |
Fear Before – A Brief Tutorial In Bachanalia Lyrics | 15 years ago |
close. its a drunkard making a deal with himself to kill himself. one personality is hiring the other personality to kill his other one, all while sharing a few drinks. right before "a sick son of a bitch..." I think you hear: "drink to yourself, drink to yourself old man, drink up, drinkin' to yourself old man!" A SICK SON OF A BITCH... |
Fear Before – The Story Of The Curious Oysters Lyrics | 15 years ago |
this song is all types of ballin' "...she's fucked by a million viewers..." makes me think of that movie fear dot com. As far as the meaning of the song, I think it transcends the lyrics. The doctor could just be the image of someone you trust (We trust the local doctors, we trust the medicine.") Not exactly a gynocologist (doctor of fishes) is fucking her while a million people watch her, but someone you trust is caught. Or maybe it is. |
Fear Before – I'm Fine Today Lyrics | 15 years ago |
i like adiverdescends interpretation of "DANCING carcasses with awful stenches" it makes a tad bit more sense than stitches. I also believe david is having a conversation with jesus at the end of the song, jesus says, "Oh I've got to keep you away from making bad decisions" and david replies, "oh you're just a baby, jesus!" ;;; Consequently, the same applies if you look at it like jesus is spiteful and tells david to keep his own ways from making bad decisions (which is nothing, considering hes smoking and swimming) and david calls him a baby :p |
Fear Before – I'm Fine Today Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I've got: Ohhh....Ohhh...Ohhh... Floating in the ocean we were drifting all alone I was looking for the shore you dont know (?) the sharks came circling in The answer must be here Just relax don't look back You'll only make things worse The answer must be here The answer must be here Crawling on the water just because he couldn't swim I don't know how I got here but I'm glad I came Who do you answer to? Fear Before – Treeman Lyrics | 15 years ago |
in between Stranger and I COME AROUND! I hear: closer to the fire, call me shape shifter. |
Fear Before – Treeman Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Ok, this is what i've got: I'm bleeding but I'm alive I'm breathing but I could die I cant explain why I'm made this way Tell me you see we are all the same When I look at you I see all of you Not just the outside Some people stare but my eyes aren't there I hope you see a piece of me Cause when we look Into the mirror The face could always be better, better, BETTER! I think i thought about you inside one Just the same (But different) Still the same kid I think I thought about you inside one I didn't like it so I changed it call me shape shifter! There's nothing stranger than a stranger Strangely stranger than a stranger You like it bleeding, will you mirror me too? There's nothing stranger than a stranger Strangely stranger than a stranger I come around from time to time Just a little taste of what's to come I come around from time to time Just a little taste of what's to come I think I thought about you inside one Just the same (But different) But still the same kid I think I thought about you inside one I didn't like it So I changed it If only we were camouflage we could return to the trees (strangely stranger! strangely stranger! strangely stranger!) But you and I both know that we could never leave the scene |

Kanye West – Jesus Walks Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think its ballin how this song has absolutely no instrumentals except a little drum riff and bass hook. No special keyboards and shit like "Put on" or guitar like "All Falls Down" this songs rhythm is all that angelic chorus vocals and shit. Thats some fucking talent. |

A Day to Remember – Start the Shooting Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Brand New – Sic Transit Gloria...Glory Fades Lyrics | 16 years ago |
anyone ever notice how these lines switch? "...No longer cool, but a boy in a stitch, unprepared for a life filled with lies and failing relationships.." "Nothing that he tells her is really having an effect He whispers that he loves her, but she's probably only ready for so much more than he could ever give A life free of lies and a meaningful relationship.." life fill with lies/failing relationship life free of lies and a meaningful relationship kind of spooky, huh? |
Brand New – Limousine Lyrics | 16 years ago |
jesse told me it was a wedding procession leaving the church and was hit by a drunk driver, the little girl was decapitated, and the mother stood there holding her daughters head. and the rest of the song is jesses perception of it. |
Brand New – Jaws Theme Swimming Lyrics | 16 years ago |
alright, this just came to my head like 10 seconds ago. Someone said Deja Entendu comes from the whole Jaws Theme we've already heard from the movie right? Well I think the basis of this song is between a mother and daughter (parent and child) who're both living the same life through different eyes. Its Deja Entendu (already heard) because that song 'Good to Know if I even Need Attention..." is a mash up of an author and his character right? Something like that? Well apparently now we have 2 songs with the same premise. One song, two voices. 1 Jaws theme...two songs. That supports the Deja Entendu theory. "In a car outside, we stalk the idle kind If you're leaving just let me know Tobacco and peppermint, dusting for fingerprints A film in her eyes from the glow" In a car outiside we stalk the idle kind. The parent is in a car watching its child. the child is the idle kind because of idle youth. idle in the sense they're still young and not doing anything with their life. "If you're leaving just let me know" is a phrase we've all heard from our parents when we were young. 'Tobacco and peppermint..." kids smoke all the time but are scared of their parents finding out, so they suck on mints or gum or whatever. The child is trying to hide their crime of smoking, while their parents are very pryful and concerned. hence 'dusting for fingerprints' The chorus are the collective ideas of the mom and child "Some rules are made with all intentions to break and she defends it with a warped rationale And I've seen what happens to the wicked and proud when they decide to try to take on the throne for the crown" some rules are made with all intentions to break and she (child/daughter) defends it with a warped rationale (because children often think they know everything when they're really dumb and naive) and the mother has seen what happens to the wicked and proud when they decide to try and take on the throne for the crown - the mom knows what kind of path the relationship with her child is on, and shes just sitting by not doing anything because she knows that it'll only make her daughter hate her, because of her warped rationale and thinking her mom is too protective or whatever. "And we learn as we age Wait for nothing and my body still aches And you take 'cause they give Though I love you and my body it leaks like a sieve" the mom loves her daughter but all the shit shes doing is hurting her and time is only passing. "When it got cold outside, smoke beneath the playground lights If you're coming home just let me know Sucking on your breath mint, dissected and stuck with pins A film in her eyes from the glow Concrete and water, she's looking for her daughter at midnight in torrential downpour And everything I said about how messed your head is We're cut up and left in bits and pieces on the ground" 1st part (...got cold outside...) the daughter is smoking beneath playground lights...shes still a kid...going to the playground (Why else?) if you're coming home just let me know the mom knows there is no stopping her daughter, shes given up. sucking on your breath mint... trying to hide the smoke, the stuck with pins means even though the daughter thinks shes got it so bad with her life....we all know there are millions just like her a film in her eyes from the glow shes all glazed over from whatever shes smoking, whatnot 2nd part (concrete and water..) I ts begun raining over the playground and the mother has finally come out to look for her daughter (at midnight in torrential downpour) and everything i said about how messed up your head is talking down to her daughter we're cut up and left in pieces on the ground *This part is open to interpretation. Maybe the daughter was killed/murdered and the end of the song about jumping out of the window was the mother committing suicide, or maybe jesse lacey is just whacked and the rest of the chorus is the same shit and then the last verse: "Take the picture from the wall when you think that nothing matters (and we learn as we age) Take the picture from the frame and it's a long ways to the floor (wait for nothing and my body still aches) Cut your finger on the edge 'cause it's sharper than they told you (and you take 'cause they give) Take a leap from out the window cause it's way too far to go through the door (though I love you and my body it leaks like a sieve)" picture of her daughter (assuming shes dead) or maybe a picture of the mothers youth, wishing she was that young and could make the best decisions for herself she takes it from the wall, takes it out of the frame, throws it to the floor, and tosses the frame out of the window. OR FROM THE DAUGHTERS PERSPECTIVE: she takes a picture of her mom out of the frame off the wall, and leaps out of the window to run away. either way, thats my analysis. and im proud of it. |

The Spill Canvas – Bleed, Everyone's Doing It Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i disagree, look at everything nick has ever written. This song doesnt follow suit with any of them. The strongest message in this song is that humankind is still human, but even this song weakly conveys that. I'm not really impressed with this album with the exception of Hush Hush. But even that sounds like to Live Without It. |
The Spill Canvas – Battles Lyrics | 16 years ago |
yeah i found it pretty cheesy that nick used the DBW line in Battles. But then again, most of The Concept and Jugular became the Sunsets and Car Crashes album, so its not the first time nick has shimmied things together. |
Cursive – At Conception Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Father cole almost certainly did not perform an abortion on jeanie. The line "what happens in confession..." is in reference to him having sex. He didn't rape her. Like tim wrote, "...Father Cole has done his best to console the girl More so than some neighbors deem necessary..." Jeanie is torn up (heartsick) about her boyfriend leaving that shes confused and vulnerable (similar to the girl in Into the Fold. They're the same voice in each song.) And father Cole consoles her by having sex with her. Then Cole preaches the rape/abortion sermon because that term is a lot more socially accepted. The entire first verse makes the song seem to fall backward into time. "Jeannie's been throwing up all morning The poor girl's been so heartsick Ever since her boyfriend went to war Father Cole has done his best to console the girl More so than some neighbors deem necessary But you just can't measure young love." Throwing up all morning...morning sickness. One of the early signs of pregnancy, but she seems to think its because of her boyfriend off in the desert. Then the song shifts forward...and she whispers shes carrying. Lastly, an immaculate exception...at conception. |
Fear Before – Complete The Utter Confusion… Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The bolded letters in the liner notes spell out: "FAITH OR RELIGION. GOD CAN "HERE" YOUR CALL." |
Fear Before – Mouth Lyrics | 17 years ago |
InvalidPacket is 100% correct: "Because it’s not far from pleasure island where this pink flesh gets its fur" is a reference to Pinocchio where the kids become donkeys." In the lyrics sheet for The Always Open Mouth, every other page has certain letters bolded within the lyrics. Mouth's liner notes spell out, "WAATCH PINNOCHIO" |
