Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – The Curse of Millhaven Lyrics

Just to add to my earlier comment, I managed to sing this in front of a small audience of about 25. It was awesome, though what Nick Cave sings on the album version has many words slightly different to what's up there.
But that's just what I know from having learnt them well enough to sing the whole song by heart, heh. I do recommend it though, if you learn it now then you can sing it at any short notice stage thing! |

I think it's about what the fans think of him. If you see what I mean, we're the ones who think he's "epic", which is what he's talking about. |

I think it's about the obvious drugs in the music industry, but I wouldn't say it's a criticism. It's just he seems to take drugs himself, and I don't think he's aiming at being hypocritical here; it's just commenting on the issue. |

The song is self explanatory, and there's not a hidden beneath the surface, so I can't really add to the meaning. I just want to say I think this song is absolutely amazing, and I love how Cave will take on a character's viewpoint for a whole song. |

Mindless Self Indulgence – Clarissa Lyrics

Well, I think it's "Another little teenage bitch", or as Jimmy says it, "nuther lil' teenage bitch", which makes it fit the tempo.
There's a video of them playing this live, it's better with Jimmy introducing a pop quiz over the intro, I wish I could get an mp3 for that somewhere. |

Mindless Self Indulgence – I Hate Jimmy Page Lyrics

This is impressive. I'll add my 2 cents.
Old music is dull as crap, and I don't care how brilliant it was back then, this is /now/. And in the land of now, the radios have been broken with Kaiser Chiefs and pop. Because of this, credible talented bands don't get exposure, and so for what MSI's done (get so huge underground that they're starting on the charts without a single commercial play) in 9 years is good. And they're good in the now, as opposed to good in the then, and as such are against harder and heavier competition. I don't particularly hate Jimmy Page, but I don't listen to Led Zeppelin, because they have been hugely outdated by stuff that is so diverse with every band fighting for a niche, that every listener has their own band that will be perfect for them. Led Zeppelin was mainstream and thus appealed to as many people as possible, but MSI sit right where I want them to. So I, and all the other radio-phobics, consider them rightly successful, and in their own ways far superior than the oldies.
Hah, I justified my opinion :D When someone else does that without boring sales statistics for the old bands, maybe I'll reconsider... But I still won't like that music. |

He wants to be cool, pretty simple.
I must go up to a pretty lass sometime and whisper in her ear, "You make me hard." If she doesn't get it, she's not into MSI, and thus clearly not cool enough. |

Cheers Drexial. This is my fave MSI song, perhaps because I'm scared shitless of playing really weird songs ("I'm Your Problem Now", per se) and this one slides under the bar of being a 'normal' song :) |

Atreyu – Ex's and Oh's Lyrics

I think the name means something too; Ex's and Oh's. Basically, xxx, ooo, hugs and kisses when you're writing letters. And the song is about him getting hugs and kisses, and it sounds like he wouldn't want them if he was sober. Something like that.
And about the sound, it doesn't remind me of Atreyu, but I'm not fussed - they can try new stuff if they want to. |
