She is a really magnificent artist. Whenever this song springs up on me, I actually have to dance, which is exactly how I felt when I started hearing Dog Days. What is this magic spells she weaves? I think it's the harp.

This is one of my favourite songs ever. I love the way the calm but kind of irritated tone of the verse just breaks into a big chorus with "I'm not what I was last summer". It made me feel like my life is different now, even though it's not about me. I feel like I'm in a film, nay, a musical when I listen to this - it's immensely exhilarating!!

Ooh nice. I like the bassy synth at the beginning. At first I thought, "Oh no, FLA are trying to do a serious song? They can't!!"
And then we get to the end:
"I don't feel like playing this song again..."
And MayKay's in hysterics!! Woo! Now THAT's what I call Fight Like Apes. Much better.
No idea what it's about other than an ex-boyfriend, maybe, trying to win her over with his musical abilities? Anyway, v good song.

I love this (song? hardly) so much!! It just feels so tragic and sad... I suppose with so few words in the lyric it could be interpreted in many ways, but for me I conjure up the classic stereotypical "I-got-into-drugs/alcohol/high-getter of choice-and-it-was-a-bad-thing" kind of story, with some nice girl living life quite a bit more than she used to and now she's slightly more worse for the wear physically, but inside only she knows how bad and rotted she is. She'll never be as whole as the girl she used to be.
She fell out of love with herself. |

This song is an illuminous piece of music. It makes me feel like I want to drink it, and I'm sure it's
the best song that I have ever heard, in my opinion. I read about La Roux in loads of newspapers, magazines, internet... but didn't pay much attention to all this raving on and then just like that I looked her up on Myspace and I was simply amazed at how perfect this song is. It's purely... good, I suppose.
And as for the lyrics, I'm not exactly sure. It seems to be about having an affair with someone(a woman, I gather from the video, and a pretty seductive one, at that) who is with somebody else but seems to really want her anyway "you seem to have forgotten about your man". So she's confused as to what everything means, I think. Well that's what the lyrics are like on reading, but then with this song you have to pay attention to the beat and the chords, which seems to change the meaning and it sounds like being at the center of an exotic, beautiful and intensely sexual relationship which is a weirdly wonderful amalgam of pain, wonder and highness. |

No, Pull In Emergency are a relatively new indie(ish) underage band and I've seen quite a few reviews mentioning their "Florence and the Machine cover".
But I'm not sure if it really was hers to begin with, just because it sounds quite different from her other stuff.
I think it's a great song though, and my favourite bit is when the backing vocals kick in with "cryyyy-yyy-y". It gives me shivers every time. I wonder if it's based on a story of an artist or a folk tale or something, cause it really is a beautifully sad story. |

I agree with DannyZero, the best thing about this song is teaming it with that scene in Skinsand it's the reason got into Crystal Castles in the firt place, cause that was extremely touching.
But even though the song is actually about nothing, it's amazing how many different people have diverse views about it.
Which makes it great because, I, for instance, can imagine it's about my self-harm, and nobody can tell me my interpretation is wrong because, proven, it means nothing. Technically. |

I never thought about it as being on tour and feeling lonely or anything like that.
When I hear it, I think of what a brilliant soundtrack to some kind of epic fantasy movie about a couple of teenagers. I can just imagine two people running through a dark forest on a film trailer when I here the 'woah-oh-oh' bit. Maybe that's just me.
I just feel like it fits that kind of scenario. It should have been the 'Twilight' soundtrack maybe. Anyway, I think it's great. It makes me feel like I'm not the only lonely person wishing life away for love. |

It reminds of when I first heard it; watching the moon whilst driving through town. Which was also really pretty. Every time I hear it, I just can't help feeling happy. It makes me feel innocent and and like life's a big adventure. (I do think the 'ba-da' bit sounds a bit 'never mind'-ish too).

Why can't the lyric just be about doing real handstands?
I imagine just a little girl in a playground doing handstands to win the attention of a boy. When he starts singing, it's like it's when they're older, and together, and he's only just realising all the times she wanted him to notice her, and now that he realises this, he appreciates her more and does more nice things for the girl.
Too innocent? Maybe. But so is the song. |

when I listen, it sounds like 'I want your eyelids... Iwant your dress..." Or something like that, though the posted lyrics are probbly correct. But if you think of it that way, coupled with the slightly whismical and minor-key beats, it sounds like it's about feeling like desire for something is right, but others look at you in sadness, because your desire's leading you into a sticky mess. Am I reading too deep? |
