Amanda Palmer – Trout Heart Replica Lyrics | 15 years ago |
the song tells a story. that story is valid but it also has a deeper meaning. it's all real. also, why submit lyrics to a song if you don't know what they are? so that you can have your name up and people will think you had it first? wtf. |

Amanda Palmer – Blake Says Lyrics | 15 years ago |
learn what you're talking about before you accuse someone of ripping a "heap of lyrics" from a "book." Amanda referenced the following poem: "Acquainted With The Night" by Robert Frost I have been one acquainted with the night. I have walked out in rain -- and back in rain. I have outwalked the furthest city light. I have looked down the saddest city lane. I have passed by the watchman on his beat And dropped my eyes, unwilling to explain. I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet When far away an interrupted cry Came over houses from another street, But not to call me back or say good-bye; And further still at an unearthly height, O luminary clock against the sky Proclaimed the time was neither wrong nor right. I have been one acquainted with the night. |
Amanda Palmer – You May Kiss The Bride Lyrics | 15 years ago |
hitler and napoleon fought thirty years to have her hand bitter ends thy will be done disney magic kingdom come after all we've won is this the state we are reduced to it might make you sick at first it takes some getting used to her nails are polished but her hands are tied you may kiss the bride court is on the secret show the liver time and when we bomb the foreign town will she smile upside down walk her through an isle strewn with cigarettes and needles in the face of this devotion we are merely equals take her in your arm like cyanide a long black car is parked outside to take away the bride a tisket a tasket a green and yellow basket a tisket a tasket a green and yellow basket attract it attack it strike first and ask it after attract it attack it strike first and ask it after in the ruins of this brave new world we have uncovered remains the vestige of the bride who stared agahst and wondered who'd've thought we'd lose this easy fight it seems she's sleeping but her eyes are wide won't someone wake the bride |
Amanda Palmer – 1.1.94 Lyrics | 15 years ago |
we had written we would sit down and start again from the beginning it was finally time to stop whining and start doing anything something to make them believe we were living and we kept on bleeding long after the signatures dried on the paper i stole from melissa's macbeth and oh how i needed so much to believe in it isn't it sick how i thought that i knew you death how romantic ushering in the new year with our childish antics now soon after the gullible glimmer of hope turned to sarcastic laughter and we were intelligent people with eyes in our heads it's astonishing is it i thought you were just plain shy a quiet kind of guy with abandonment waiting behind every corner a delicate sort of a loner how lonely was i there is still time we could still try it's very difficult when no one's there to catch you in the rye you kept saying that the blackout were godsend at least it made living worth bathing you kept taking the bad with the worse like some curds that your mother was making oh and isn't it funny years later to look at it broken and shaking our heads laughing if we had known back then what trouble it would bring to actually want to create something beautiful now we've turned into those pitiful people too scared to touch and drinking way too much oh it's typical isn't it say it you cynic we asked for it didn't we ask for it didn't we want to be lesser and lesser and covered and down with it didn't it didn't it didn't it no there is still time we could still try it's very difficult when no one's there to catch you in the rye |
Mindless Self Indulgence – Played Lyrics | 15 years ago |
why do people insist on submitting lyrics they don't actually know? it definitely sounds like "i played it out to make up for all that i never really did" |

The Dresden Dolls – Pro-vanity Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Oh cool, the incomplete lyrics that I transcribed! Thanks for posting them, JF. |
Amanda Palmer – Runs in the Family Lyrics | 16 years ago |
^Exactly my point. Now these lyrics are circulated throughout the internet and we still don't know what they actually are. |
Amanda Palmer – Sandy's Song Lyrics | 16 years ago |
^Which is true for the songs that she actually, you know, plays. This transcription is from the only known recording which is a 10 year old demo, so no one has a version with different lyrics. |
Amanda Palmer – Runs in the Family Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It was very, very ignorant of you to submit these lyrics which you did not fully transcribe on your own, especially when they are riddled with errors. Now this incomplete, incorrect set of lyrics, which you at the least could have proof read, is circulated throughout the internet. You had no confirmation from Amanda that these were correct. |
Amanda Palmer – Lonsome Organist Rapes Page Turner Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Amanda has said that she is not passionate about music, but about the effect it has on people. |
Fefe Dobson – Bye Bye Boyfriend Lyrics | 16 years ago |
You posted them here; it's your fault. |
Amanda Palmer – I Believe in Aeroplanes Lyrics | 16 years ago |
No. You're wrong. This song is not intended to be played solo, it is to be played with Brian. It may wind up on the next Dolls album. |
The Dresden Dolls – The Gardener Lyrics | 16 years ago |

The Dresden Dolls – Have To Drive Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I have/know of two different versions to this song. The one with only Amanda & Brian, listed here, and the one featuring the ambitious orchestra which has very different lyrics. Since that is the one most readily available, that is probably why there is so much confusion. Here are the lyrics to the version with the Ambitious Orchestra which you can find on automaticjoy.com: I have to drive I have my reasons, dear it's cold outside I hate the seasons here I suffer mornings most of all I feel so powerless and small by 10 o' clock I'm back in bed fighting the jury in my head we learn to drive it's only natural, dear we drive all night we haven't slept in years we suffer mornings most of all we saw you lying in the road we try to dig a decent grave but it's still a morning to behave it is a delicate position spin the bottle pick the victim posing upright follow directions blast the network oh, an impossible decision we'll have to drive they're getting closer just get inside it's almost over we will save your brothers we will save your cousins we will drive them far away from streets and signs from all trace of bad mankind we suffer mornings most of all wake up all bleary eyed and crawl to find a telephone call in each ear meet me at the car |
