hated the guitar at first, but maybe your ment to , i think its used to symbolise the hurt/pain that was felt , the huge emotions / hate / etc etc that its not ment to be nice, almost like screaming at his mum! then calm, beautful calm like acceptance of it or even forgiveness. |

i just got married yesterday and requested this as my final song. not my first dance as thats something else but i wanted this to end the night. singing god only knows in my wifes ear whilst dancing at the end of a perfect day was, well, perfect! it was a song i fell in love with after hearing it on , yep you guessed it, the wonder years and could not believe it was the beach boys. a lot of people know the track but i dont think they realise how special it is , especially the harmonies at the end and a lot of people a the wedding where feeling this song.

this song reminds me of what an arse i was when i was younger!
it especially reminds me of one girl i was seeing and everything was going great but i got the chance to go to Australia ( i am in England) so i just finished her so i didn't have any ties incase i wanted to stay out there.
she was totally shocked and it hit her hard which is how i am feeling the girl in the song is feeling.

first off it sounds like marching in slush to me!! then it just builds and builds and just when you think its not going up any more, they hit it up one more time!! i actually play this as loud as i can and just get submerged in it all and it just makes me feel like nothing else, if i catch myself thinking though, its usually about my son, first love, my dads death, all the biggest things to have happened to me emotionally. if this doesn't get played at my wedding, it will be at my funeral. how many songs can you say that about! |

tome, this is just after a break up when your trying to be strong but the cracks show in the final verse. this is the song that i heard first by Rosie thomas and turned me into a fan. when she did this song at a live gig in England that i went to, she blened/mixed it in with bicycle/tricycle and i was nearly in tears. just wish i could get a hold of a recording of that!! |

well, finally understand what hes saying in this song!! i am listening to the live version and even though i couldn't understand everrything he was saying, i thought it was about him remembering a past relationship and time where he was caught out for cheating!!! does no one else think this?? now he may have found out she has died or is dying and this is the guilt coming out!?? maybe this just an English way of looking at it!? |
