I don't think anything suggests that rape is involved, but I agree with you that he's fantasizing about something.

Shinedown – I Own You Lyrics 11 years ago
To me, this has a feel of going to a psychiatrist (Come on in, take a seat, tell Mr how you feel this week), and resenting it after; seemingly because they feel that they've become weaker in the process by passing of the responsibility of "raising themselves"(I made you, dressed
And trained you ...
'Cause now I own you.). I don't think this song is about a dominant person having control over someone, but I think the "I" thinks that they're being made weaker by having a dependence on someone else. The verses seem to be someone counseling someone else; it's all said as advice. The chorus on the other hand seems to have a darker tone to it. To me it sounds like hes busy hearing a voice telling him that he's being repressed (But the voice takes on the the role of the counselor in his head), even if the counselor legitimately wants to help them.

I also like the bar/alcohol theory. It wasn't the first thing I thought of, but it makes sense throughout the song.

Hopefully I wrote that legibility. Its hard to check your writing on a mobile.

A Perfect Circle – Gravity Lyrics 13 years ago
Im just putting it right out there. This song in some way relates to drugs. 13th Step is about drug addiction. It could be related to "succumbing to gravity" (jumping), and dying, but only as a final result of the drug addiction.

A Perfect Circle – Pet Lyrics 14 years ago
I think this can be applied to either drugs or government as long as you realize that the song is about control based partly on scare tactics

Everyones also missing two keys elements.
1. Near the beginning of the song, "the force" says how it will protect the "subordinate" (sub) from bogeymen. Near the end of the song, the force says "the bogeymen are coming". This is the force using scare tactics to regain control. It's saying basically, "Your leaving me? Fine, defend yourself". This change, along with point 2 show how the force is losing control; either by the user abandoning drugs, or by people refussing to be suppressed by a government.

2. The beginning of the song is calm and soothing showing the subs complience with the force. The guitar picking up for the chorus could show the sub questioning the force, angering it. As the song progresses, the beat gets stronger, and heavier; showing more frequent, stronger revolts. Finally at the end of the song (extending into lullaby) it dies out, sounding sad; showing a loss of control of the force, and freedom for the sub.

I think that if you take both of those into consideration, the song is about healing and the ability to fight a force; more than soley the force and it's reign.

EXCEPT, this is a concept album regarding Drug Abuse/Addiction
A good interpretation nevertheless.

Dead By Sunrise – Walking In Circles Lyrics 14 years ago
Basically it means how we're blind to our mistakes (symbolized by "shut minds" and "sleeping") and we keep repeating them ("walking in circles"). It goes on to say how these habits/routines/mistakes are often sinful and bad. ("Trapped in a dream unhealthy unclean")

Yes?

Three Days Grace – Bully Lyrics 14 years ago
Not the most complex song, lots of repetition. Nevertheless, probably the best song on the album, hands down. Almost a shame to tear it apart, but here I go...
There's really two possible meanings to this song:
1.
The first Verse basically tells the story of a kid who's haunted by the thoughts of being bullied, and having to face it. As it progresses however it tells how he bascially has decided that he's had enough; it needs to end.
The Chorus says how when kids snap(when/if they do), whether it be suicide, shootings or whatever, everyone is blamed but the kid themself. Everyone seems to turn a blind eye to the fact that kids are capable of conscience decisions on how to deal with any situation. The bullies blamed for "forcing" the kid into the situation. The family is blamed for not caring enough to take notice about junior's problems.
"Blame me" basically says how everyone (including the abrituary "me") is blamed, except the kid.
Second Verse talks about a girl basically in the same possition as the other kid.

2.
The other meaning takes a completely different look at it.
At the bottom of the Verses where it says how they've had enough; this could be reffering to the kids stepping up and telling someone. That changes the meaning of the chorus to how blame can finally be placed. Regardless on whether it lies with the bully themself, or their parents, blame can be made, which helps resolve the problem. Only thing that doesn't work about this is the "blame me" line"...
In theory, because there's 2 characters, both could be right, and shows how the situation plays out with 2 different decisions. Please critisize. It helps develop it.
You would not beleive how long this took to write on my iPod XD

Avenged Sevenfold – Tension Lyrics 15 years ago
Pretty basic meaning, but amazingly put together.

First part of the song that sounds stressed and (as mentioned) 70-ish, it's about a "working stiff" and how bad their life is going, and how stressed and tense they are

The second more western sounding bit is him unwinding and relaxing over the open road (could be metaphorical, could be literal).

Love the MJ-ish opening :)

Avenged Sevenfold – Crossroads Lyrics 15 years ago
Great interpretation. As an Atheist, comparing your beliefs to a "whiskey hole" with drunks is a little unsettling, but I'll live.

I think this could also simply apply to any major decision that appears in your life though.

Avenged Sevenfold – Dancing Dead Lyrics 15 years ago
I'd readily agree with the titanic interpretation, except for the part in the chorus

"And while the world that they built, told 'em to change, told 'em to listen,
they just kept it the same."

doesn't seem to fit with that idea. Could be a duel meaning song thats supposed to be up for interpretation, but Im leaning towards fakeblood.'s idea.

Lostprophets – Last Train Home Lyrics 15 years ago
It may be a country of free speech and all that fun stuff but you seriously gotta calm tv down and stfu. In my opinion, bands like this (Along with TDG and Linkin Park) are exellent to listenn to when you are deppressed are feeling like you the only one with problems. Listening to songs where other people are expressing their problems helps assure you that you arnt the only one, and that your not alone. Ever notice how there are like 100s of genres out there? If everyone followed your Heavy Or Bust state of narrow mindedness, the enire music scene would suffer. Before you come on and deploy a uncalled for attack on a band, think shit through.

In my opinion,

Red = Anger

Black = Mental Numbness
Like he gets angry, than drinks himself numb.

And I agree, the Chorus sounds a lot like Chester. Nice voice whoever it is.

Velvet Revolver – Big Machine Lyrics 16 years ago
Im pretty sure the chorus refers to the fact that socially, we've created a international "machine". If any part of it "stops working", the whole thing falls apart. e.x. Asian countries quit selling us their stuff. All of a sudden, "OMGs, I needs a PS3 now!" and there arn't any, the Asians have them all.

Thats just a example cause my initial reasoning sucked.

Velvet Revolver – Just Sixteen Lyrics 16 years ago
Rolling in the street lights,
In his old man's ride
Head in his lap going, up and down
Up and down, oh no, cop lights
Standing in the courthouse
In front of God and every child
She said "Your Honor I plead to,
The crime of being satisfied."

Perfect, all I can say lol.

Serj Tankian – Beethoven's C*** Lyrics 16 years ago
One of the best songs, ever, in my opinion.

As for the meaning, seems to be another multi-meaning song; as the chorus and the verses seem irrelevant to each other for the most part. Any ideas?

Rocky, I see where your going with that, but doesn't seem correct.

Serj Tankian – Saving Us Lyrics 16 years ago
One thing that didn't make any sense at first was the contradictory chorus:

"Tearing us, youre tearing us
Youre breaking us, youre breaking us
Youre killing us, killing us
Youre saving us, youre saving us
Youre tearing us, youre tearing us
Youre breaking us, breaking us
Youre killing us, killing us
Youre saving us,"

Than I thought about it and this is the conclusion that I drew. He says how "you" are breaking "them" and killing "them", than he says how "you" are saving "them". I thought of the Middle East (Possible war song). Bush believes (or at least what he's saying is) is that by invading the Middle East, he's helping them, somehow, yet he's breaking them.

Only a small interpretation, I know.

I see how it relates to love...mostly. The corus (which sounds so smooth and creepy, gives me goosebumps) dos'nt seem at all relevent to love.

"The arms of time are breaking off,
Civilization is on trial,
The clocks eliminating time,
Do you believe, in me..."

Sounds more like he's insinuating that over time, love is beginning to rot society? Maybe. Like to here your opinion.
