Built to Spill – Nowhere Lullaby Lyrics 14 years ago
It's about life when it's unmuddled by religious fantasies. Such a beautiful song.

Okkervil River – Missing Children Lyrics 15 years ago
I think this song is about a nuclear war. It's a concept album. The theme works all the way through. The radio picked up the reception of the coming bomb before it actually reached him here. His own ghost tries to warn him later on in the past but he breaks the mirror and can't escape the radio.

An important line in this song is "Kids grow up and kids get numb and". It is the apathy that allowed the next line to exist causally. It's for sure the most meaningful album I have com across.

I think I'm right about this all.

Why? – By Torpedo or Crohn's Lyrics 15 years ago
That German guy is far put. Can you imagine actually asking the band something and then returning to songmeanings to say what they said it meant. Pretty awesome of that German guy.

Arcade Fire – Ocean of Noise Lyrics 15 years ago
I think he is actually talking about free-will and our lack of it. In the line "An ocean of violence between me and you.", Violence is an allusion to our animal instincts and their control over us. If an instinct which is innate takes hold of what we do then how can we say we chose that course. The relationship he is bitching about for example. I understand where all of you are coming from as well.

I tend to drift toward philosophy when analyzing songs.

The Magnetic Fields – Kiss Me Like You Mean It Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this song is about Jesus seducing a naive young lad or lady.

Belle & Sebastian – The Loneliness of a Middle Distance Runner Lyrics 16 years ago
I think its about how the future seems planned. When you stop to look around you see that you can change it. However, the path you are on is the "runners" path. We're all runners(players) competing on the stage of life. If you stop running and start contemplating different paths you fall behind and get lonely. The rat race passes you by.

Al Stewart – Year Of The Cat Lyrics 17 years ago
yeah, Its pretty dope. It, to me, is about finding someone you love but you have differences that will cause you to seperate. The end of the Year of The Cat is all the time you give yourself to be with her. Shes wild!

Andrew Bird – A Nervous Tic Motion of the Head to the Left Lyrics 17 years ago
I think everyone has figured it out together and I find that my original hunch was partly correct. The drug twist was a direction I hadn't entertained that was equally valid. The meaning of this song is, to me, that we are unlikely existant beings with consciousnesses that can't be appeased by the meaningless activities that the whole of existance seems to have brought us(history channel watching). Overprescribed is the monotony of it all; I agree with whoever said that.
The covering of blisters with flannel is an interpretation of the covering of pain with our bland soley accepted emotion of conformity or nonemotion. The reason not one of the words we speak can be a lie is because there is no truth outside of human experience, so objectively everything is true since objective truth is undefined. When I think about the depressing facts of life I almost have a nervous tic motion of the head, not necessarily to the left though.
