Amanda Palmer – Map of Tasmania Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I used to love Amanda Palmer. This kind of stuff is making me not so sure. Like others say, it smacks of "jumping the shark". Also, I'm not sure I completely feel comfortable with the sentiment. Who made it her job to judge whether or not being shaved makes you any less of a woman? It certainly doesn't make you look like an eight year old. As far as I know Amanda makes a bit of a thing about body hair being about choice, so why rag on those of us who make the choice - sometimes - to shave? |
Paramore – Misery Business Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Given how much she mentions being Christian it's hardly a very Christian sentiment, is it? She really is an unpleasant little gnome. |
Paramore – Misery Business Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I have to agree. I've always really hated this song, not because I don't like Paramore (although I don't) but because the lyrics are horribly judgmental and in some ways quite sexist. The whole song's utterly disgusting actually, the more I read the lyrics the more annoyed I get :/ |
Chris Bathgate – Every Wall You Own Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Oh man, this song is beautiful, I can't believe no one's commented on it. I think it's pretty self explanatory. Ahhh, love. |
Slipknot – Vermilion Lyrics | 17 years ago |
If I had to pick a favourite Slipknot song, it'd be hard. But I think this is it. It's so raw. So emotional and right on the nail with the pain in his voice. You can feel the hurt and intensity emanating from the speakers. Haunting. S x |
The Dresden Dolls – Colorblind Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I know everyone has one song that they feel like it was written about them. This one is the one I feel like was written about me. The most important relationship I've ever had ended in me discovering that he only really ever did lust after me, despite his protestations to the contrary, while I loved him in all the ways I knew how, to the point where it was having a physical effect on my health. I was so blind. I let him trick me. I love this band, I love this song. S x |
Ani DiFranco – Both Hands Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is the most poetic thing. It is beautiful, simple, perfection. I cannot praise it highly enough. I am totally in love with it. S x |
Hellogoodbye – Here (In Your Arms) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I kinda love this song, because, well... IT'S SO SWEET! It's like a hug. Awwwwwww. It just makes me very very very happy for no apparent reason. Aww. S x |
Hadouken! – That Boy That Girl Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I never usually comment on songs I hate but this one moved me to banging my head off a brick wall so violently that I just had to. Hadouken are part of the same scene the claim to hate. Most bands, when they reach a certain level of success or urban "cool", will state that they don't belong to the genre which spawned them (see nu-metal, emo) when in fact they have to rely on that scene following to propel them to any further success. As in this song. It makes some good points, I guess, but it's nothing most people who bloody hate stupid scene kids and the way they all think they're so unique, when it's obvious they're the same kids who were all listening to rap and hip hop back when that was "cool". Add to that the fact that it's completely unlistenable from a musical and vocal point of view, and it's just a MESS of a headache inducing pile of dung which I hope is forgotten as soon as it becomes popular. S x PS On a purely personal note, I can't STAND this culture of sticking exclamation marks all over the place in band names. It doesn't add to the effect. WHYYYY?! |
