I hate this song because it enforces traditional gender roles. Not all men behave this way. In fact the only reason there are jerk males is because women pick them. Women don't have to wish the roles were reversed, they can either become a bad girl themselves or better yet reject all bad boys. If they did this it would set off a social revolution. |

Some of the worst lyrics in the history of recorded music. This song encourages young women to choose thugs. There is a major crisis in the African-American community (and increasing in all races) where the traditional family has broken down. Instead of choosing good, decent men as partners and forming family units, women are choosing the roughest, toughest thugz they can find. Of course these hypermasculine "soldiers" leave women after getting them pregnant. Some of the "soldiers" go to jail, others die in gang warfare, others move on from one woman to the next. The tragedy is that so many children in the inner city grow up without fathers. When women pick "soldiers" there are no more fathers, instead we have "baby dadies". Boys in particular who grow up without positive male role models often turn out to be violent criminals. This song promotes this type of culture. Everyone involved with it should be ashamed. |

I was a Shania fan until I heard this song. This song encourages young women to choose alcoholic loser men. These are the type of guys who abuse women, destroy families, and ruin our culture. If women picked decent men instead of POS like the man in this song we would live in a near utopia. This song was a huge "stiff" on the charts. It wasn't a hit at all. Some would even say it ruined her career, it was her "jump the shark" moment. I for one am so happy about this. Shania should be ashamed for recrding this song. |

Before this song came out in 1986 women liked good, decent, nice guys. This song started what I would call the bad boy movement. Women picking bad boys over the decent men is the root cause of all family breakdown, moral decay, and social probems. In many ways I would call this the most destructive song in pop music history. |

I liked this song from the first time I heard it because of how catchy it is. Then after noticing the lyrics I LOVE this song! I love how non-politically correct this song is, it goes against everything young women have been brainwashed to believe There is a war against beautiful women, our culture encouages women not to look pretty or even look ugly. This song recognizes the forgotten truth that a beautiful woman has power. I especially like and agree with the lyrics about a "pool of light". |

I have the exact opposite take on the song that Saivi does. I don't think the lyrics are sad at all. Sweden is the only country in the world without a sexual double standard. Swedish women are free to go out and be sexy. It is such an advanced country that women are never called slu*s. Dancing Queen is a celebration of the feedom Swedish women have. At one time I thought the U.S and other countries would become as advanced as Sweden. I have long since given up hope. Whenever I hear a guy criticize a woman for looking sexy or being sexual I feel so depressed. It especially makes me sad when I realize most of the guys who use criticize sexy women weren't even alive when "Dancing Queen" was released. I don't think the Swedes theemselves fully appreciated how wonderful their culture was. They have allowed a large number of immigrants to move into their country who HATE independent, sexy women. The new immigrants are outraged that Swedish women arent "modest" They call Swedish women "hookers". This will change Swedish culture to the point where "Dancing Queen" will represent the way Sweden USED to be in an earlier, more innocent, time period. Yes I do think about all of these issues everytime I hear "Dancng Queen"..which is one of the best pop songs of all time. |
