davisonfire1 wtf are you talking about you idiot this song wasn't even written by scarbury he was simply chosen to perform it. it was written by mike post as a 1 min short song for the opening sequence to the show "greatest american hero" and with the show popularity was extended into a full length song. It's about the TV show nothing else. Take your homophobic crap somewhere else this song has nothing to do with being gay or aids. |

I like this song and the Aussie one. though the original Aussie one performed by Lucky Starr is a bit faster than Cash's one.
So here's a sum up of it though to clarify for anyone reading. This song(the original aussie one) was written by Geoff Mack in 1959 and made popular by Lucky Starr in 1962.( as stated by pop sux in an earlier comment) the north american version was written and originally performed by Hank Snow a few years later( about 1965 maybe? not sure) then covered as seen here by Johnny Cash. it is not a song about the places any of the artists have been personally it's about a guy who been everywhere and seen everything(or so he says lol) and at the end of the original there's is a sarcastic reply from the Truck driver saying " Ok mate you've been every place except one and ya don't need my help ta get there"(meaning get the eff out of my truck cos your know it all attitude is pissing me off).
And as for what CHarlatan Sin said " Is he serious when he says "I'm a killer"? Is that why he's on the move so much?" " the answer is no. I don't know about other places but in australia(where that line originated) saying "I'm a killer" means you are well versed in or really good at something in this case meaning he thinks he good generally not at anything specific. E.g. an aussie could say "Damn that Johnny Cash is a great singer, man he's a killer." or "damn that Johnny Cash is a killer songwriter."
So hope that clears it all up for anyone that doesn't already know :) sorry for the super long comment. :rant over: |
