I can't believe no one has commented on this song! It's so beautiful. Definitely about two people who desperately want to be together but never got the opportunity to be. "Where the road meets the sun" I think talks about a special place where the two can be together. Then again, where the road meets the sun doesn't really exist, so it's tragic in a way. | I just read "Ulysses" by Tennyson and, clearly, thought of this song and had it stuck in my head all class. The "I'm bored" I think is a callback to what Ulysses feels at the beginning at the poem. Like Ulysses, he wants to escape, so he gets high. However, he's no hero like Ulysses, he won't come home after his adventure and won't have great stories and feel fulfilled. I think. Maybe. This is in no way a full interpretation but it's a thought. :P | |

I've liked this song for a while but only feel compelled to post about the meaning now because it totally applies to my life haha. The first verse is setting the listener up for the situation. The speaker of the song, I'll just name him as Matt, met a woman under the said "false pretenses." She promised him more than he was going to get and he definitely wants more from her. He can't seem to get over her. Then, he goes onto say "you set my soul alight" which is pretty obvious in meaning. A glacier melting in the dead of night/superstar getting sucked into a supermassive black hole are both actions where a victim is undergoing inevitable circumstances. The glacier is melting, reserves are melting, lines are getting blurred, inhibitions drop. The superstar getting sucked into the supermassive black hole represents Matt getting sucked in by this girl. She's the black hole; nothing can escape her, not even light. The second verse is calling her superficial, saying he's a fool for her. He knows she's no good for him, but he still gets sucked in by her, hoping that on day the truth will come out and that she'll honestly want him. I hope this helped. :) |

| I personally think that the song means, no matter what Andy is doing, he does any task with conviction. He can do something important like talk to corporate and lead a workshop like a boss, which is great, because that would make him a worthy leader. He also chooses to do menial tasks such as sending faxes and eating bagels like a boss. He wants to make every moment matter, because if you're not being a boss 24/7 until the day you crash into the sun, then life just isn't worth living, is it? | |

Beautiful song. I just saw her in concert and before she performed it, she said, "This one is about my first heartbreak" or something to that effect. I definitely agree it's about an unhealthy relationship. She wants to be rid of this guy, but since he had such a strong power over her, she can't help but go back to him. Falling for him is just as natural as falling to the ground, like gravity. |

This song reminds me of a situation I once in, so that ties into my interpretation of it. Bear with me on this one haha. I think the speaker of the song wants a girl extremely badly, like everyone's saying, but I don't think it's strictly sex. There is a strong sexual overtone to the song, which I think is an essential part of the attraction between the two, but I don't thnk it's the only thing. He wants to be under her skin, in her thoughts, and he'll do anything he can until he gets her. |

I've introduced so many people to this song beacuse they were going through a hard time...this song really helps. The end is just SO comforting. This song is absolutely beautiful. I want it to be my wedding song, haha. I love how conversational some of these lyrics are, it makes the song so much more honest. I love how the day he met this person, everything changed. But, he doesn't fall into this love headfirst. He acknowledges it takes time. It's a perfect love song. Realistic, but still has enough of that magic added in. |

I listen to this song every time I feel like my world is falling apart and I can't handle it anymore...it makes me feel better every time. I basically think this song is about wanting to change, wanting to be something bigger than you are now. The future is scary, but you want to go forward and embrace it, no matter how hard the struggle is...but it's hard because you're constantly doubting yourself. I don't know if what I said was articulate enough to express what I'm trying to say...but this song conveys a feeling we've all had. We can listen to this song and it just completely hits this moment when we feel hopeless and need someone to find us. I especially like the part where he goes "I've been laying so low/don't wanna lay here no more" because it expresses the discontent he has with where he is in life...but he hopes it'll all figure itself out one day. I love it. |

I think that this song is about comforting someone going through a hard time. While we know what exactly it's written about, but I like to think of it as general..just because it can apply to more people and help more people through tough times. I definitely think this song is about a relationship that falls apart. The light that fueled our fire then has burned a hole between us so That line, probably one of the best ever written in my opinion, shows how lovers who were once close can fall apart..for the same reasons they fell for eachother. (Such as, I love you because you're headstrong...and then hating them for the same reason and wishing they were less opinionated...or something. :D) Undeniably a great song, though. |

I'm not sure if I can analyze this entire song...since it's absolutely crazy and wonderful. One of my favorites from the CD in fact. Anyways, my favorite line is "Sometimes I hate the line I walk." I think this song could possibly be about someone finding themselves, someone who's a little lost in life, but all the same restless to find some type of meaning or anchor, as to not feel so lost in this world. |

I especially ike the allusion to "I Will Survive" like she doesn't just want to move on but she does want to in fact shove it in her ex's face. I think this song is about a girl who just had a bad breakup or some "heartache" and is waiting for someone to save her from the things that have happened. She's waiting on a beautiful boy and eventually he comes "watch it now, here he comes" He doesn't look like Jesus, which I assume means he's not someone she expects to be saving her. But, I guess she knows he was meant to save her because he emulates qualities which she has been looking for since she was young. I think that these two people are developing a relationship and acknowledge the fact that there might be trials getting into it and helping her get over her heartache and save her, but they're willing to take it slow and try. He loses me with the burning and hurricane verse. :) I think the "devil's water" represents maybe the wrong that happened in her past relationship that she's working to be saved from. It's kind of like a bad addiction or something. I'm fuzzy on that part too. "But more than you'll ever know" I think means that he doesn't look like Jesus, but he will be the savior for this girl. Sorry that was so long. :P |
