Rilo Kiley – Capturing Moods Lyrics | 16 years ago |
The beginning of this song seems to suggest that ignorance is bliss, that he doesn't know what he's going through...he seems immature and unaware of the weight of his decisions. It seems that he has moved to the city for opportunities and she urges the fact that he had all the love and opportunity where he was (in the mountains-- where the population grows/ where the clouds meet the snow). This also reveals the difference in maturity between them. "You could sell your baseball cards just to pay your rent, yeah" is (to me) her describing how much simpler living is in the mountains, the country. To my boyfriend, this means that he would have to sell his baseball cards just to stay in the city as long as possible. Still, she loves him and is willing to wait for him to realize these things and return to her. |
Lovedrug – Down Towards The Healing Lyrics | 16 years ago |
okay, i'm not into stretching songs to have a spiritual twist that said, i dont see how this song can be interpreted any other way. i was raised in a religious home and at 18, i abandoned all faith for my own journey of spiritual faith. this song is the epitome of what i felt when i finally decided to believe in god again i thought i could stray from him and do good, but all sorts of evils filled my life. this song is definitely about surrender. it's so bold and honest. and haunting, like lovedrug loves. i was so broken inside for 2 years after i left all my faith, i find it enormously uplifting: i float away from evil and down towards the healing. |
My Bloody Valentine – Don't Ask Why Lyrics | 16 years ago |
at first i thought the anthem of the song was 'dont ask why' but then i realized 'turn around/ to the fool/ who believed/ dont ask why' always question. never settle. there may be no answers but still ask why. |
My Bloody Valentine – When You Sleep Lyrics | 16 years ago |
the structure and execution of this song has such a gripping honesty to it. it feels so perfectly subjective. perfectly objective. it makes me feel omniscient. makes me wish i were in love. |

reminds me of church for obvious reasons, reminds me of how they start you out with a set of guidelines from the get-go. but i suppose thats just how it relates to me. mmm mbv |

Youth Group – Lillian Lies Lyrics | 17 years ago |
You're a stranger in a country town The kids all stare, the cars slow down You didn't think you'd be so dumb To just grab a hold of whatever came along for some reason, that part just grabs me. i think it's because when i'm somewhere foreign, i always feel like people are staring at me, watching me, knowing i'm not a from around there. i think this song illustrates how alone lillian is. i like it though because she is brave, she is at least trying to escape, i think it takes guts to be able to go out on your own. |
Youth Group – Baby Body Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i think this song really captures what it feels like to be in a rut. the kind of... dull gray rut that comes with dissatisfaction with the way you look. i guess the moral is that although you can want to change everything, when you make external changes youre still not happy. when you try and alter who you are, it's still not going to bring you happiness. you may end up just feeling fake. anyway, i can relate to this song alot. i think it's excellent. =) !!! |
