Really brilliant in every way. The Lyrics have so much meaning and the way the song flows is amazing.
What really blew my mind a few days ago whilst driving home on CR 209 (a beautiful dark quiet country highway) was that this song is actually in 6/8ths time for the most part, but after the drum roll during the squelching guitar the song changes into 7/8th's time for the pretty part.
You can tell the difference if you count the beats and simply by the fact that one kick note is added per measure compared to the rest of the song's signature. It's incredibly smooth and absolutely blew me away when I realized it.
This song means so much to me, as does this album. I'd definitely have to dub this my favorite song if I had to choose on the spot. |

Oh this album is amazing. It does seem like all the sudden NIN has become some trapped resistance band and this is their message to the world.
This song is the most haunting musically since La Mer and most lyrically personal and beautiful since The Fragile and The Great Below.
A wonderful lead into the final 3, the coolest part of any NIN album. |

this is the falldown/ opposite of "We're in this Together" and uses lyrical references and concepts based on the rest of the album. It's only a continuation and finale/ conclusion to his whole Fragility Tour and the album "The Fragile" itself. |

Closer was dark... this is more beaty... like, you could dance to this, and not Closer. This is more asthetic, and a bit happier while Closer is a bit more of a cry for help. I don't believe he's atheist (and that IS anti - christian) OR agnostic (simple absence of faith...) Either way, Trent is amazing. |

Hypnotic. That is one good word to describe the intro and the tremolo (rapid volume changing) effect of that intro guitar. As for the meaning of the song, it is very similar to "We're in this Together," from "the Fragile." |

I see it as a whispery love song as he is telling his lover what he feels as the world ends. Kinda like a final goodbye, in a 6:15 sentence with piano in the background. Almost makes me cry, and i'm not the type who cries easily. I think because it reminds me of what I said to my girlfriend once, and that I would spend the last hours of our existance with nobody but her. |
