I love this song. It always gets me going whenever I hear it, it makes me think. I think it's "I got some fancy shoes to try and KICK away these blues" .. that makes more sense than giggle, I believe. Brett Dennen is such a talented and beautiful songwriter/singer ... this song has everything and more. |

I definetely agree with these theories, on waiting for somebody who still means something to you, and dwelling on memories of the past. I HEART KEANE! this song has a sleepy, mellow feel to it, but a slightly spooky element aswell! I love it! |

I LOOOVVE this song, it is the most played song on my iPod and I will never get sick of it. I think that this song could have many possible meanings, and I agree with most of the theories I've seen above: the 9/11 idea, the Native American tribute idea, the lover leading a second life, and divorce through the eyes of a child. It could mean any of those things. I think though that for sure the song revolves around the theme of a great, heart breaking and unfair loss, and the narrator feels torn apart inside. |

Yes that annoys me too.. I LOVE THIS SONG! Im a huge imogen fan. I think this song is about a relationship that both people knew was failing, that it wasn't supposed to last long anyways. When she says "This time I think it could be, triagulated" She's referring to a love triangle, like there's another woman involved in the picture. She takes his cheating with an old lover ("meeting someone at the bar/where lose ends still have uses") as an oppurtunity to end what both of them knew was never going to work out. |

I kind of disagree with what I see written here ... I think this song is more about a relationship ending because the guy is drunk, and the girl sees a whole new side of him. he got mad and started overreacting, becoming really violent and agressive, and he's decided to walk out on her and leave. "Just put back the car keys…or somebody’s gonna get hurt. Who are you calling at this hour?" (a reference to drunk driving/dialing) "I know what you're thinking .. but darling you're not thinking straight" (also referring to his drunkeness) "No hesitation…oh, I’ve never seen you like this. You’re scaring me…" (this side of him she's never encountered) She's trying to get him to stay for the night so he doesn't go do something stupid (like try and drive home drunk) and hurt himself or others. She thinks when he's back to his sober self they can work out whatever made him so mad. |
