beautiful song. really bleak outlook on the world. almost overdone, but the exaggeration just seems to show how desensitized we are to some of the things around and how miserable some things really are if we can ignore the fact that we're used to it. seemingly hopeless until the last verse "I keep on losing my voice / but it finds you somehow." through the turmoil, we can still reach those we care about. wonderful. maybe i'm under-analyzing it but just my $0.02. |

1st post. w00t anyway, good song - don't know if i'd say great, although my opinion could easily change upon a few more listens. I wish the song as a whole just had more of a crescendo effect. I feel like the song has an emphasis on nature again, like a lot of their other songs and a futility of modernity. The whole swinging of swords for show is only literally taking place in contests of fencing and i dont really thing thats where the song is going. I feel like once again they're just stressing the importance of simplicity. The song also seems to referrence some frustration with another person. "you will grow mad at me..." and "you just drive." I feel like the second line places emphasis on just which to me sounds like theirs a sort of impatience involved, but this is far too long for an initial analysis of the song so i'll leave it for now. |

regardless of whether or not you like it, at least they're changing. trying something new. i didn't like this song at first, but it's definitely growing on me. it probably helps that i think the video is really funny. theres a lot of difference between silent alarm and a weekend... and i'm sure we'll get something with just as much change and growth. and this song isn't all that straightforward, the lyrics aren't as complex, but not horrible, i don't think. i think the beginning reminds me a lot of version 2.0 a song which i like a lot less. |

| I get a pretty strong over the top love song vibe too, but also, if you can totally forget about the love song interpretation I can also see a loved one - like a family member, maybe still lover - on the verge of death. 'the scary day' 'We've both been very brave around with both legs' like the injured is trying to recover from whatever happened to them, and he's trying to cope with the idea of this person either being injured the rest of their lives or the injured person dieing. All he wants is to take them both far away from treatments and hospitals for the rest of the time they have together. Something like that. Just a different way of looking at it. If someone else already said that, I apologize, I didn't have the patience to read all 3 pages of comments on this song and halfway through the second one just decided to post this. | |

great song. I kind of get the vibe that it's about a couple splitting up. I would assume the woman cheated (unless the song is for some reason sung from the woman's perspective) and thats what slipped out causing the doubt. The second verse I gather is about them trying to work it out, but it doesn't get anywhere and the battle to keep their relationship alive only goes uphill. Also in "Forever ending, never done." even though their relationship is over, they have children (implied by the family part later in the song although it's not definite) and they have years of raising their children and with that comes interaction between them that would be a reminder of what happened. Also he would take down the pictures of the family if they split up/divorced. You get the picture. The last verse I don't really think fits in though so I could be totally wrong. Just my thoughts. |
