It's about the drinking culture in England. I think its a pretty good represenation (and hilarious! esp. the bot that's cut out here) - people seem to find it necassary to drink every weekedn, often weekdays, because eveyone else is doing it - and everyone is boring if they don't drink. Apparently. Its destroying the youth - my friends drink seemingly because their parents do, the kids on Skins do... Its stupid. |

I love this song - a lone (beautiful) voice rappingin the wilderness... Political songs are always cool...this makes me want to dance and weep! I think the meaning is quite difficuklt to extract but: "he had his way I'm bored of him I'm tired of him I don't wanna be as bad as him" Makes me think of how the Western world views supposed, accused terrorsits - kinda, who acers about the fcat? I think this song is pretty straightforward, but still I ADORE it. It's about being different, about not fitting in, a premise Willy goes into often. And to answer one of teh questions poised: what's so good about being good? well, if Willy doesn't know, NO ONE knows, becasue he's the BEST at beign good, lols. The pacifist undertones makes me smile. I esp. like the lines: So as you're laying alone tonight, What's so right about being right? Because that's what I do somtimes. This is a bit of an anthem for me - because sometimes I see someone or somethign and think, wow...and be annoyed - but then what's so bad about being bad? And I'll smile. |

This is one of Pallots more, um, upbeat songs. I wasn't sure about it as first, but then the lyrics got to me. " 'Cause all good people have a sense of themselves They never worry, they know what tomorrow will bring And all good people know the world is okay Why should we worry when we can do anything?" To me, its a kind of paradoxical; she's very upbeat about the fact all good people are like this (perhaps refering to people like herself), but the person she speaks of is sitting at a bar at six, their faces pale in the blue neon lighting. When she tlaks of how the person 'never wnt back' to whoever the ghost at teh bar is, I pretty sure its about an old lover, someone the person's left behind. The memories are symbolisd by the 'paper flower' and 'pill in your drawer'. If you just read the lyrics, its pretty dark. A ghost in a bar...but, the song is upbeat (ahh, said that word 3 times, cant think of any other!), the paradox of this suggests a pretty dark past, of levaing an so on...maybe how 'good people' wouldn't so such a thing as run away. |

It's so deep and meaningful, really gets to you...haunting and, I kid you not, close to the lyrical genius of, say, Muse or Willy Mason. LOL It's a bit of a joke; the video made me laugh, seriosly CHAVAFIED and totally Nu-Rave. I wish she didnt release this as a single, because I was very prejuidice aganist her for some time, but then I heard 'Merry Happy' (Cute!) and 'the Nicest Thing' (ah...those feelings) and I realised she wasn't trying to k-k-k-kill music (*grins* see what I did there?). |

This song is exactly how I feel about someone. I guess everyone has a 'someone' like that - and to people that think this song is cheesy; well, 'cheesy' or cliche things seem cliche because they're often true. It's simple, and so sad and I can listen to over and over again; I just get a bit annoyed with the line 'favourite beauty spot....' it's a bit uncomfortable, for soem reason (somethign to do with syllebles?). Only ONE other comment? How can that be? This song is AMAZING. I was watching Freshly Squeezed (the Lord bless that show!) and Willy Mason was on it...he is soooo cute...and he was saying that this song was actaully about how he litrally had to Save Himself, because he was broke and soemone had to put a house up for mortgage (his mother...?) to finance his music. So he saved himself through music. "when the vultures copyright the word free" I love this line. He's just got this way of writing; so...I don't know. Beautiful and direct and important. Not all about hunys and cars and stuff. And I thought it was 'seats' not 'seeds' - as in commerce seats. COMMENT ON THIS SONG - it's great. |

I can't believe no one has commented. Willy mason is so very underrated, let me tell you. This little tune is decpetively simple. Somtimes I think this song is just about someone who's too 'lazy' to conform and act like everyone else, and then 'they put me on drugs' so he could be like everyone else. And it's just not sane. But most of the time, when I'm not feeling all philosophical, I think this song is about how the mental health services are not sane themselves; locking someone in a room, putting you on drugs...a lot of people who just need to talk on drugs; that really isn't sane. Love this song. LOVE Willy Mason. |
