Cloud Cult – Story of the Grandson of Jesus Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"He said, "Do unto yourself As you do unto your neighbor It's not an eye for an eye It's a favor for a favor" I fucking love that line. It's like taking the whole philosophy of an eye for an eye and turning it into something productive. Put it in reverse, and it can be used to better the world. |
Cloud Cult – Hurricane And Fire Survival Guide Lyrics | 16 years ago |
That's a poor word choice really... poop? It kind of throws off the song. |
Honest Bob and the Factory-to-Incentive Dealers – I Get By Lyrics | 16 years ago |
A guy hopelessly romancing over a girl. Simple. He gets by... and that is all. |
Hot Hot Heat – Happiness Ltd. Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I wwouldn't say it's emo... It's portraying a truth of life in a mature way. It's not all "everybody hates me. life sucks" It's more expressing how, there is happiness in this world, but it never seems to stay. And that the misery can last forever if you let it. |
The Buggles – Video Killed the Radio Star Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Am I the only one that sees the irony in this? The music video to this song did in fact kill the radio star. |
The Rumble Strips – Motorcycle Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It's just genius because it's so damn simple! "If only this bike was a motorcycle." It's just the simple, vain, fantasy or riding a motorcycle. |
Cloud Cult – Everybody Here Is a Cloud Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It's pretty simple actually... We all came from the same place and will all return to the same place. Our time here is limited, but we will last forever in a way. |
Atmosphere – Yesterday Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I actually lost my dad about a week ago. He died instantly of a heart attack without any warning. I've been in total shock and denial. Then I just heard this today and the part "But I know it wasn't you because you passed away, Dad." stuck out. The whole song totally makes sense to me because of that... I see my dad everywhere. |
Great Northern – Home Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think I probably interpreted this totally wrong, because the terminal illness thing seems to make much more sense, but anyway, what I thought when I first heard it... I thought home was symbolic for finding your place in life. The mental state of being "home", not actually going back to your house. The "take all your medicine, it'll make you well" line, I thought was supposed to be sarcastic. Like the medicine was ways people tried to make themselves happy with material things. Like if you're depressed, "taking your medicine" would be like anti depressants, but also things like expensive cars, clothes, electronics, etc... But then, "you'll have to run till it's over" I thought "running" meant mentally running away from the fact that you need something more than materialism. If you just look to "medicine" then you'll just need more and more and have to keep on "running" until your life is over. You'll know it's over. And then, I don't know... I didn't look too deep into it yet. Am I totally off here, or did anyone else see this as a metaphor or something? |
The Bravery – Time Won't Let Me Go Lyrics | 16 years ago |
When I first heard this song on the radio... I got this odd deja vu feeling. Like I knew I hadn't heard it before, but it gave me this familiar feeling... like from a dream. Just the feeling that like... life was gonna be great. Like an epic feeling. Or the feeling that your whole life that you've been waiting for is there, in front of you, waiting for you to join. I got all that just from that beginning riff. There's something amazing about it. Then I started listening to the lyrics and... basically they're the opposite of that feeling I got... I see musicians do that a lot with songs. They'll give sad songs an upbeat melody to make it almost funny. Or maybe it's supposed to give some sort of effect? I'm wondering what that is supposed to be... |
The Fratellis – The Gutterati? Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Does anyone have any idea what this means? I love the song, but the lyrics... um? |

Does anyone have any idea what this means? I love the song, but the lyrics... um? |
Silversun Pickups – Dream at Tempo 119 Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Holy hell. I just listened to the whole thing the first time today. His voice is so powerful, especially in this song. I felt like God was talking to me. |
The Apples in Stereo – Energy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
It's just a simple, happy song with simple, happy lyrics. I love it. |
Irving – The Gentle Preservation of Children's Minds Lyrics | 17 years ago |
These guys are one of the best indie band I've ever heard too. Don't really know much about the song meaning though. |
Dinosaur Jr. – Little Fury Things Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I don't think you can ever say what it means. I think it was purposefully made to be not easily understood so that the listener could take his or her own interpretation from it. When I heard this, I got a totally different interpretation then the whole stalker thing because of what I was going through. The line "Tried to think what's over me, it makes me crawl Then she runs away from me, faster than I crawl" means, to me, like when you're trying to figure out where you're going in life and how to deal with the situation and you get so caught up with that you lose her as she runs away faster than you crawl. Crawling symbolizes moving through life slowly and confused while others run away. Beautiful song... Listen to it and make your own interpretation. |
Tenacious D – Destiny Lyrics | 17 years ago |
They must rock to get money to pay their rent. Oooohhh. Durr... |
Tenacious D – Beelzeboss (The Final Showdown) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
So I noticed JB and KG's part of the rock-off is what the song Tribute is a tribute to. At the end of the movie, they said something like "That was like the greatest song in the world... How did it go?" "I don't remember." Someone probably already said that, but meh. |
